Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest once again was the top dog among New Year’s Eve specials both in late night and primetime.. The long-running ABC program averaged a 10.1 overnight rating from 11:30 p.m.-1:15 a.m. That was down 5% vs. last year when the special featured tributes to original host CDick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Evelark. From 11:30 PM-12:30 AM, NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly (5.2) was up 6% versus last year to match the annual special’s highest rating ever in its nine years on the air logged on December 31, 2009. Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live (2.6/6) from 11 PM-12:30 AM was down 7% vs. last year.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest (7.1 rating in adults 18-49) was down 8% vs. last year. NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly (3.1) was up 11% versus last year to hit a four-year high. Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live (2.1) was up 5% vs. last year.

In primetime, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest averaged 12.1 million and 3.7 in adults 18-49 from 10-11 PM. It was down 10% in the demo from last year but posted the special’s second best 18-49 result in 13 years and the third largest audience ever and topped CBS and NBC combined by 17% in total viewers and by 61% in Adults 18-49 in the hour. Also, from 10-11 PM ET, the primetime segment of NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly (1.8 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) soared 64% in 18-49 and 53% in total viewers vs. last year to a primetime high for the special.
