Ti West’s Jonestown-esque found-footage thriller The Sacrament was acquired in a seven-figure deal by Magnet Releasing in Toronto after a strong festival run that included a buzzy premiere in Venice, where it drew praise for its take on the genre. The pic centers on a fashion photographer whose sister has joined Eden Parish, a community in an unidentified foreign country. He sets off to visit her with two journalists from Vice who intend to film the goings-on. It doesn’t go well. Joe Swanberg, AJ Bowen, Kentucker Audley, Amy Seimetz and Gene Jones star.
