Amazon Studios‘ director Roy Price told attendees at a Mip keynote today that filming is starting in Paris this week on its pilot The Cosmopolitans. A chronicle of the loves and adventures of a group of young expatriates in the City of Light, it hails from The Last Days Of Disco filmmaker Whit Stillman who wrote and will direct and executive produce. The cast of the half-hour pilot includes Shaun Evans Adam Brody, Chloë Sevigny and Carrie MacLemore.
Shed Media Group‘s Watershed TV has appointed Emma Morgan as its first Creative Director. Launched in 2011, Watershed’s credits include factual formats Extreme OCD Camp, Show Me What You’re Made Of, and Show Me Your Money. The UK-based producer is currently working on shows for the BBC, CBBC, Channel 4 and Five. Morgan joins the Warner Bros-owned subsidiary from Mentorn Media where she is currently Director of Development and Executive Producer. The exec was previously with Twofour Broadcast. She’ll board Watershed in May and be responsible for growing its slate of factual and factual entertainment formats.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment has sold cooking format Game Of Chefs to Germany’s Vox. Constantine and ITV Studios will co-produce the show for launch early next year in a primetime weekend slot. Game Of Chefs is a product of the ITV Studios and Reshet partnership, The Lab. Its finale aired in Israel on Tuesday night, drawing a 49.2% audience share with an average of 40% across the 22 episode series. A second series has been ordered. In other ITVGSE news, the company has sold more than 500 hours of programming into China and Thailand, including via a multi-year drama output deal with internet giant Tencent. It has also pacted with Shanghai Media Group across a range of genres. And, Chinese VOD service Sohu has acquired U.S. drama Rectify. In Thailand, ITVSGE has pacted with pay-TV broadcaster Next Step for 300 hours of factual and nature programming.
