EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the Faking It season one finale tomorrow night, I’ve learned that MTV has ordered a 10-episode second season of the scripted comedy series. Faking It is the highest-rated new series launch on MTV so far this year, averaging a 1.5 rating among the network’s target demographic of persons 12-34 and 1.4 million total viewers each week. Airing at 10:30 PM, it retains nearly 90% of its lead-in, MTV flagship comedy Awkward, and regularly ranks as one of the Top 10 most socially-engaged primetime cable series on Tuesday. “Faking It has proved to be the perfect companion show to Awkward,” said Susanne Daniels, President of MTV Programming. “We’re excited about Carter Covington’s delicious plans for season two.” Created by Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov and executive produced by Covington, Faking It is a romantic comedy about two best friends, Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk), who love each other – in slightly different ways. After numerous failed attempts to become popular, the girls are mistakenly outed as lesbians, which launch them to instant celebrity status. Seduced by their newfound fame, they decide to keep up their romantic ruse. Gregg Sulkin, Michael Willett and Bailey Buntain also star. Here is a sneak peek from tomorrow’s season finale:
