George Stephanopoulos, Barbara Walters Come On Strong Day After ABC News On-Air ShuffleOne day after George Stephanopoulos was not named to replace Diane Sawyer as anchor of ABC World News (the gig went instead to David Muir) but did add Chief Anchor to his ABC News duties — only some skeptics suggested that was a gesture on the news division’s part, and both Stephanopoulos and Muir would be seen anchoring big news — Stephanopoulos tweeted he was traveling with President Obama on Air Force One,  watched the US vs Germany World Cup game with Obama, and his exclusive interview with POTUS would air on Good Morning America tomorrow morning and Sunday on This Week, which Stephanapoulos hosts. Muir did, however, get to fill in for Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America, where he unveiled the first portion of Barbara Walters’ interview with Peter Rodger, father of Santa Barbara mass-shooting suspect Elliot Rodger. One day after Diane Sawyer announced she was stepping down as anchor of World News in order to lead a team to create and commission original reporting and major interviews for all ABC News programs and platforms, ABC reminded Sawyer she had formidable competition within the network, announcing it had booked this Walters interview for a special edition of 20/20 tomorrow night:
