With the No. 1 and No. 2 shows of the night, NBC handily won Tuesday. The network’s America’s Got Talent was the only primetime program to top the 1′s in demo ratings, scoring a 2.8/10 for its two hours. AGT was so dominant it beat combined competition that included ABC Extreme Weight Loss (1.1/4), CBS’ NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles repeats (1.0/4), and Fox’s Riot (0.4/2) and I Wanna Marry ‘Harry’ (0.4/1) combo. AGT retained 93% of previous week’s 3.0 premiere rating, and finished within 0.2 of a point of last year’s second episode, which had aired later in primetime in order to enjoy a The Voice lead-in.
NBC’s The Night Shift (1.5/5), while losing more than a ratings point off its AGT lead-in, did retain 94% of its previous week’s premiere, which had been NBC’s top summer drama debut in five years. Fox’s Riot, meanwhile, tumbled 33% from the previous week, though it held steady in the adult 18-34 demo. I Wanna Marry ‘Harry’ held steady compared to previous week.
ABC took the No. 2 spot for the night; Extreme Weight Loss slid 15% from last week’s season debut, but Celebrity Wife Swap’s (1.4/5) season finale climbed 17% week-to-week, besting last season’s finale by 27% in the demo and 38% in total viewers (4.04 million vs. 2.9 million).
The CW’s debut of its latest stab at a reality TV series, Famous In 12 (0.3/1), tumbled 25% compared to last summer’s Capture debut (0.4/1) in the slot.
