‘Starlet’s Sean Baker Sets ‘Tangerine’ With The Duplass Brothers Exec ProducingEXCLUSIVE: Indie Spirit Award-winning helmer Sean Baker moved from the streets of New York in Prince Of Broadway to the suburbs of the Valley in 2012′s Starlet, and he’s stuck with the City of Angels for his latest feature. Details are staying under wraps on Tangerine, but the LA-set pic is set on Christmas Eve against the backdrop of the city’s different subcultures. Baker cast first-time actors Kiki Lee Key and Mya Taylor as his two leads and tapped Starlet co-stars James Ransone (The Wire, In A Valley Of Violence) and Mickey O’Hagan to star alongside Karren Karagulian, who appeared in Prince Of Broadway.

Try gleaning any plot clues from this quote from Baker: “I think this film is a response to those who told me that I’d go soft if I moved to LA. It’s a wild, colorful ride through sections of this city that has rarely or never been captured on film.” Chris Bergoch co-scripted and Mark and Jay Duplass are exec producers on the film for their Duplass Brothers Productions banner alongside Marcus and Karrie Cox of Through Films. Darren Dean and Shih-Ching Tsou are producers. Freestyle Productions’ Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri are co-producers alongside DP Radium Cheung. Baker and Mark Duplass are repped by ICM Partners.
