SUNDAY AM: Warner Bros' The Dark Knight continues to power drive the North American box office and grossed a whopping $23.2 million Friday and $28.2 million Saturday from 4,366 theaters. That's down only 65% and 41% respectively from its record-smashing debut a week ago. With a $75.6 million weekend, down only 52% from the best-ever Fri-Sat-Sun, the Christian Bale-Heath Ledger actioner directed by Chris Nolan broke the record not just for the best first week of all time, but also the biggest 2nd weekend of all time. The PG-13 pic will make $314.2M in just 10 days, the fastest ever (beating Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest which did it is 16 days). All anybody can do at the studios is keep repeating the word, "Amazing". And it is. There are even whispers starting whether Dark Knight can beat the incredible worldwide numbers posted by the all-time $1.8 billion benchmark of Titanic. "It can be the first movie that has a real shot," one rival studio bigwig told me cautiously. Because not only do people like the movie, but it's getting incredible repeat business. Even occasional moviegoers are curious to see what all the fuss is about.
Once again Sony Pictures is able to open a low-brow comedy big at the box office -- this time the Judd Apatow-produced Step Brothers from the Talledega Nights team. The Adam McKay-directed reunion of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly made $11.9 million Friday and $10 million Saturday in 3,094 venues for 2nd place and a serious $30M this weekend. The opening weekend audience was 54% male/46% female and 66% was under 25. The film, financed by Relativity Media, was made for about $65M.
No. 3 was Universal's Mamma Mia! which only fell 44% from its debut a week ago to earn $5.5M Friday and $6.5M Saturday from 2,989 runs. With $17.8M FSS, down just 36% from its opener, it had one of the best second week (non-expansion) holds for the summer after Memorial Day weekend. Its new cume is now $62.7M.
It was surprising that this TV series-based sequel, The X-Files 2: I Want To Believe, was made a decade since the first installment came out. Especially after all that litigation. Still, rival studios thought the pic could make high teens/low 20s since the gangs all there: Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson. Instead, the 4th place sci-fi pic underperformed by a wide margin after opening to only $4 million Friday and $3.4 million Saturday from 3,185 plays and only a $10.2 million weekend. (Fox claims the negative cost on the film is $30 mil. "Movie was made for a price and will be more than profitable with overseas b.o.," one of the filmmakes emails me.)
No. 5 was close behind: Warner Bros' Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D made $2.7M Friday and $3.6M Saturday from 2,688 theaters and finished the weekend with $9.4M and a new cume of $60.1M. In 6th place, Sony's Will Smith starrer Hancock will pass the major $206.3M mark after an $8.2M weekend from 2,550 dates and surge past $500M worldwide by August 1st. Disney/Pixar's Wall-E is in the 7th spot and just days away from its $200M cume after earning a $6.3M weekend from 3,044 plays. The toon will end up the #5 film of the summer behind Dark Knight, Iron Man, Indiana Jones, and Hancock. No. 8 is Universal's Hellboy II: The Golden Army, which eked out another $4.9M weekend from 3,018 dates for a new $65.8M cume.
At #9, Starz/Fox's Space Chimps squeezed out a $4.3M Fri-Sat-Sun (-39%) from 2,538 theaters and a $16M new cume. And rounding out the Top 10 is Universal's Wanted in 1,754 venues: it had a $2.7M weekend and new cume of $128.6M.

If it’s still making $20M+ in its 8th weekend, then we can talk about whether or not it has a shot at Titanic. The benchmark for TDK should be $500M domestic to see if it can become the second movie ever to do that. If it makes it to $1 billion globally, there’s just no way it makes ANOTHER $800M. Titanic should still be considered well out of reach.
“If it’s still making $20M+ in its 8th weekend, then we can talk about whether or not it has a shot at Titanic.”
It’s major bullsh*t. Titanic reached 200 million in its 48th day. Dark Knight in its 5th.
Did anyone read this in Rupert Murdock’s Wall Street Journal?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121694247343482821.html?mod=opinion_main_commentaries
A cry for help goes out from a city beleaguered by violence and fear: A beam of light flashed into the night sky, the dark symbol of a bat projected onto the surface of the racing clouds . . .
Oh, wait a minute. That’s not a bat, actually. In fact, when you trace the outline with your finger, it looks kind of like . . . a “W.”
There seems to me no question that the Batman film “The Dark Knight,” currently breaking every box office record in history, is at some level a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war. Like W, Batman is vilified and despised for confronting terrorists in the only terms they understand. Like W, Batman sometimes has to push the boundaries of civil rights to deal with an emergency, certain that he will re-establish those boundaries when the emergency is past.
Shame to hear about the X-Files doing poorly. I was a fan of the show when it first came out. It probably could have done better with a later summer/early autumn release to avoid the pretty direct competition with The Dark Knight, but that’s just some Monday morning quarterbacking.
The fact that “The Dark Knight” has made 23 million on friday should be seen a sign that it isn’t going to surpass “Titanic”’s record. The moment it reaches 300 million, numbers are going to decrease, as it always does, especially considering that August is the month where box office numbers are at its lowest.
Wow, Dark Knight $70m+; X Files 2 doesn’t even make the teens.
Hopefully this idiot won’t trouble us again http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/rival-studio-dark-knight-48m-saturday/#comment-93343
Still very diifcult to see Titanic being de-throned, but TDK should be the closest since and break $500m domestic, $1.4bn intl. a fantastic result whichever way you look at it.
Runaway production victory! I’m surprised though pleased that X-Files 2 is bombing. Any film whose setting is in the U.S., that can afford to pays its actors tons of dough, but then shoots in Canada to save below-the-line crew and production costs should bomb. I boycott them all. I wish the general public cared as much. Fox is more guilty of this than any other studio. This is also one of the reasons why us IATSE folks don’t like actors. Their multi-million dollar salaries are rarely ever sacrificed and who can work all over the world, but it’s us who have to go on unemployment here in LA while they take our jobs in Canada or Bulgaria.
Even I, who absolutely loved Dark Knight, and want badly to see it beat Titanic, must admit to myself that there is absolutely no shot of it doing so. Titanic was just some sort of crazy anomaly that will probably never be matched until the day when movie tickets cost 20 bucks a piece.
As for this weekend, I expect DK to pull off a great multiplier and beat Shrek 2’s record for second weekend gross.
And last week on these very message boards, someone made a bet with me saying that X-Files was going to gross 70 million this weekend. Good thing for him we never discussed what the loser would have to do…
I saw The X-Files yesterday, and I loved it. I was actually surprised at how complex the storyline was. The parallels between the A and B plot and the layers to the story made for a fascinating movie. I was actually shocked to then read some reviews by journalists who just didn’t get it (or didn’t try to– maybe if they had used explosions it would have worked for them). Seemed like the audience I saw it with did get it though, since they actually applauded at the end. Excellent film!
I got a chance to catch The X-Files movie yesterday afternoon with 4 other people in the theater. To my surprise I really enjoyed the film. It’s a well crafted little thriller that is a good choice for a movie goer who enjoy’s a solid detective story. Why Fox released it one week after The Dark Knight is anyone’s guess. It should have been held back till the end of August were it would have had a shot to find an audience.
Even with “only” $11M opening weekend, X-Files will still make a good profit. Budget was only $30M (no big star salaries to pay, no particularly elaborate effects), there doesn’t seem to have been tons of saturation TV stuff, DVD revenue will be solid, and the original did 105M overseas to 83M in the U.S.–I expect that’ll be lower ratio this time since the iron isn’t hot and this film is much “talkier” than the previous one, making it less appealing internationally.
The Batman movies typically don’t do well overseas. I can’t see it beating the global number.
Three pro X-Files comments in a row, minutes apart, early in the morning, trying to put a positive spin on the bomb that the film is…on every conceivable level. Hi Tom Rothman!
I’m glad some of you folks liked X Files. I was reading those mixed reviews on it but actually really enjoyed it. I was a major xfiles fan from the very beginning and I liked how this went back to its roots. Bummer that it didn’t do so well this weekend.
I saw the Xfiles movie last night. There were only 30 people in the theatre, all of whom applauded at the end. I was prepared to be disappointed after reading the reviews…but was pleasantly surprised instead. It was a nice little murder mystery with just enough of the old for fanatics, but not so much as to be confusing. But they really have no shot going against Batman. Bad timing…and they waited too long. If they make another, they need to do it soon, not wait another 5 years.
I saw the new X-files movie as well and loved it. I think a lot of people are reading the negativity and writing it off before they even attempt to see it. With a production budget of only 30 million, I am sure that the movie will make that figure back, plus more once the movie is out worldwide.
My brother was saw the X-files — he said it was horrible.
With a 31 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (almost as bad as George Bush), a rotten title, bad marketing campaign, and stars who are apparently not supporting the film – oh, and that runaway production thing – it’s funny to see some of the Fox employees and their highly-paid spinmeisters cram this comment board with all kinds of crap. Since when is Fox News running the film division too?
I was an X-Files fanatic while it was on the air and enjoyed the first movie, but I have to admit, I’m just not all that interested in seeing this movie. I’ll definitely rent it on DVD, but it’s not worth the ticket price/hassle of going to the theater.
Now I’d get myself out to the movies if they made an “Alias” movie that looked decent…
The Dark Knight is on pace to gross $450-$550. A huge range I know but alot depends on its legs from the 4th weekend on out. There are alot of people who want to see this film once the crowds die down so expect good business throughout August and September. The question remains whether The Dark Knight can beat the inflation adjusted figures for Spiderman (2002) and Shrek 2 (2004)
Spiderman ($492m)
Shrek 2 ($503m)
Before we get caught up on The Dark Knights boxoffice hype, remember that the above films put up huge numbers as well and they came out only a few years ago.
I had a great time watching Step Brothers. Clearly a lot of thought went into making it seem so stupid. But you really get a sense for just how talented this crew is with improvising the most inane lines. Some people will absolutely hate it, but I sure enjoyed it.
does anyone really believe the negative cost was 30M? The dollar exchange sucks in Vancouver. The three stars had to put at least 15-20M in their pockets alone. Would be amazed if they brought the picture in under 50M. The good part about this franchise is the bulk of the costs will be covered by greater than normal worldwide DVD sales. Still, hard to believe this picture will open at 10M.
How do so many “fans” know how much the X-Files cost in the first place? I didn’t know this many people scanned the IMDB pro database like that. Come on guys, just take the L and move on. This was a bomb.
I am an X FILES fan and rushed last night to see the flick. I was surprised it was playing at one of the smaller AMC screens the theater was half full, a bad omen as well.
I was quite disappointed with the film, a dreary, pedantic relationship drama with serial thriller overtones, obviously the film – though strikingly shot – was aiming for an existential, faith versus science motif, it seemed just over 90 minutes and lacked any action, tension or interesting set pieces.
A far cry from the original which made over $100 million and played the larger screens, don’t expect any FBI buildings exploding, massive saucers hidden under ice caps, swarms of bees attacking our principals, and the other big setpieces in the original – this is a very intimate, small film revolving around an uninteresting premise.
It’s a real pity, because Gillian Anderson is amazing in it. Duchovny however was surprisingly glib and weak in this film, relegated to puns, getting his ass kicked several times…
Exhibitors aren’t stupid, they saw this flick and realized it didn’t deserve the largewr auditoriums, flick is way too cerebral and tedious for the summer masses. Fox couldn’t have opened this no matter how much money they threw at the marketing.
Pretty sad really.
I don’t even think even rabid X-Files fans will enjoy this.
The new X-Files movie is getting exactly what it deserves. I don’t think it would have performed much better if released earlier or later in the year. Viewers became very disillusioned with the show once they realized that Carter was stringing them along with a completely nonsensical “mythology” of storylines that were never going to be properly resolved, were never planned out properly in advance, and were being made up on the fly — poorly — by a hack who probably spent more time surfing than writing. Some of the monster-of-the-week episodes were well-done and exciting. People liked those because they usually had CLOSURE and proper resolutions. But you can’t get viewers to watch a show for nine seasons and never wrap up your storylines properly and then expect them to come out for a stand-alone movie six years later. Also, once the show’s quality plummeted downhill after its 5th season, and especially after its terrible 8th and 9th seasons, very few fans were still on board. The show’s ratings in those last two seasons were miserable. It is still a mystery why Fox renewed the show for a ninth season.
In its favor, the show had excellent film-quality cinematography (errrr, teletography?) when it was being filmed in Vancouver, but after it moved to L.A., it never recovered a lot of that eerie, strange, unsettling atmosphere. It used the Vancouver settings perhaps more effectively than any other show ever has. (Sorry L.A.) I might watch this movie when it reaches cable, because that element of it should work well. But as a whole, the X-Files is over. The public at large just doesn’t care any more. Even many of its fans don’t care any more. They’re done being ripped off by Carter and his anti-closure, anti-resolution writing attitudes. It hasn’t been off the air long enough to build up any sense of nostalgia, either.
Firstly Batman movies have always done well if not better overseas, espiecally within the UK. But i also agree i would love to see it over take Titanic, although i very much doubt it will, although for a movie costing £145 million and promotion was proberly at least 20 mill you can still say its an amazing result. Thats not even including TV rights and DVD sales in the future hindsight….
Having read now dozens of box office analyses of the X-Files 2 debacle, it’s clear that the line the studio is pushing is that the production cost was “under $30 million.” Over and over and over again. This is clearly an outright lie. It’s possible that the physical production cost was $30M, but if you include the salaries for Carter, Duchovny and Anderson et al, it would probably be closer to $50M, and that’s probably still on the low side. The film is a BOMB.
Hey, Yosemite…
I wish I was close enough to tell you exactly what I think of you trying to associate Batman with that pinhead of a president.
Go to Hell. Go directly yo Hell. Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200.
I think it’s silly to get all caught up in the Titanic debate. As if any one of us will make any money off of TDK! As far as I see it, it’s a fair film (2 out of 4 stars) and people are entertained by it. Great, but this crazy obsession with box office is ridiculous! As if it’s going to open the door for new and emerging talent to bring their vision’s to the screen, very very doubtful…
I would hope that a majority of the profits help put art, writing and music back in LA schools. But that will never happen with today’s money grubbin’ climate…
Isn’t it typically American to try to make a competition where thiere isn’t one. TDK vs. Titanic is the header. Why? Appreciate them both for the enormous profit$ that we have given the corporations that have created them. Our desultory meanderings about “which will take more of our money” will make them very happy. Probably, there will be some of you out there who will spend more money going to see TDK just to help it become “the biggest money maker of all time!” So. Will that make anyone’s life more worthwhile or better?. Sooner or later, some movie will bring in more money than Titanic and then what? On to the silly conversation about what movie will break that movie BO. Get lives people!
I really don’t see all this Fox bashing here (I’m not a Fox supporter, just an X-Files fan) and complaining about them being cheapskates, etc. Carter and co. wanted to shoot the sequel in Vancouver like the first 5 seasons of the show were. Plus, there is news that both Carter, Duchovny, and Anderson signed on for mimumum pay (plus backend percentages from the film’s total gross). Plus, the cast and crew were lucky to get a chance to do another film (unlike Universal which killed any potential for sequels after Joss Whedon’s “Serenity” grossed $25 million domestically).
And it’s only the opening weekend. Who knows, XF-2 could have legs if it has good word-of-mouth. But I am genuinely surprised at just how well “The Dark Knight” is. It’s very good, but it has no shot in hell to beat “Titanic”’s top spot, in international or domestic ticket sales.
X-Files is a good, though not great film. It’s unfortunate that Fox released it when it did–October would have been perfect. And the critics need to cut the movie some slack. It’s pretty good–and it manages to tell a good story with great acting–all without explosions and CGI. Go see it. And pray for a final, third X-Files film so we can find out what happens in the final invasion!
The only reason why Titanic made so much money was due to gossipy housewives. Get them to watch TDK 5-15 times like they did a decade ago and we might have a new #1.
Just saw Xfiles this evening and must say I am really disappointed. Honestly, after this much time they really could have come up with a more satisfying storyline.
It may grow on me – but I am disappointed nevertheless.
I feel a lot of wasted potential here and seriously doubt developing a 3rd film would be a good move.
Anyway – the theater was 2/3rds full and the viewers reactions were indiferent .
What I want to ask – is there really some post-credits footage of mulder and scully after the end credits roll ?
And second – wikipedia refers to the development hell that this movie project went through.
Does anyone here care to write a few lines about it , or provide a link to some information on this ?
And yet David Duchovny will still be treated like a star (just like his no-talent wife) and continue to get offered movie roles when he should stick to that dreadful cable “comedy series” of his. No idea why all involved thought the public could give two shits about another X Files movie when the first one didn’t exactly set the world on fire.
Hey RonS, I posted it because I couldn’t beleive someone could even make that compairison. I thought it was the funnest thing I ever read. Ever since ol’ Rupert took over the WSJ that is the type of shit they put out.
FYI I am a die-hard Union Democrat.
Ah, I am heading over to see XFiles today, right now if it has an approval rating equal to George W. Bush. This means the movie is right on and must be good to excellent. Its seem nowadays Presidents who do a Great job and movies that are good get negative response from critics which means critics don’t know their butt from their brain. Anyway, The frenzy surrounding TDK at the boxoffice is just that. I was over at Universal Studios theater friday and all I saw lining up to see TDK were teens who act and behave if they are attending a concert or a social gathering more so than a movie if you get the drift. But in the end its just more mulla in dollars for WB.
Yeah, I checked out The X-Files as well and was pretty “meh” about the whole experience. While it was great to see Mulder and Scully back in action, the nostalgia wore off after about 45 minutes and then i just got bored. And it’s not that i “didn’t get it” or anything, it’s just a really boring movie.
And yes, there is a post credits sequence that has Mulder and Scully riding in a row boat towards a island and as the camera flies over them, they look up and wave.
I liked the X-Files movie. Nothing earth-shaking but it was an entertaining film. I enjoyed catching up with those characters. I’m sorry that its bombing but hopefully with that small budget it will turn enough of a profit to get another sequel in a couple of years.
X FILES ROCKS!!!
Wow, I saw “Dark Knight” today and it was spectacular. I understand the hype on this one. And Heath Ledger is incredible as the joker. Posthumously, he deserves an Oscar for that performance. If he were still alive, he would deserve the same. He was just amazing and his role is absolutely memorable. It was the subtleties of his mannerisms that were jarring. I really wish he were still amongst us. What a great artist and likeable person. He was the icing on a very entertaining flick.
X-files might have the approval rating of Bush, but it’s not nearly as low as the approval rating of the Democrat Congress.
Have not seen TDK yet. I will when the crowds thin out. This film would have been a mega-hit anyways, but is more so because of Heath Ledger. And that the only reason why (I am not comfortable with the type of violence described in the film)I will see the movie.
The reason Titanic was so successful was of the teenaged girls. Leo was the heart throb at that time….and it was a very tragic love story.
Netposter08, since you live in an alternate universe where everything GWB is good, some mental health treatment might do you some good.
I LOVED MAMA MIA…no blood, no guts, no crashing cars, no awful aliens, no dead people, no villains, just pure fun and joy. I am glad it is still hanging in there. The audience I was with were laughing and singing and having a great time. That is why movies used to work….they were fun and escape….not scary, creepy junk. Thank you Meryl Streep and Company, it was a real blast!
titanic is a piece of garbage, I watched it once and threw up in my mouth.
I saw the dark Knight Monday, its good but not like alltime good, had movies been charging what they do now, Star Wars would always be number 1
Give me a movie like X-files: IWTB over a silly, special effects orgasma any day of the week. It’s amazing how much of the old “monster-of-the-week” type epside feel they were able to capture, from the bleak and beautiful environment (it’s snowing almost the entire movie), to the nicely encapsulated story that doesn’t leave a lot of loose ends (unlike the alien mytharc storylines), and the two leads give endearing performances. It’s a different kind of chemistry though, this time, you can tell the characters have aged and matured (as well as the actors), there’s more conflict than a typical TV episode of the XF might have had, but it plays out beautifully. If you’re looking for a fairly unique (but not too out there) thriller plot with overall solid performances and a great atmosphere, check it out. It reminded me a little bit of the movie Fargo, but with an element of romantic-tragedy that film did not have, to go with the thriller/crime-drama.
Very sad to see that X-Files 2 isn’t getting the love it deserves. It’s a great, chilling, little thriller.
This reminds me of when Universal decided to release The Thing just as E.T. came out.
It’s really a shame…
Adjust all numbers for inflation and “Gone With The Wind” is still the all time Big Dog ……
I saw both TDK and Mama Mia. TDK was solid. Performance by all actors were strong although I would have preferred to see Katie Holmes as Rachel. Will go see in IMAX next week. Don’t think will pass Titantic… who cares?
Mama Mia was a different story. The theatre was small and very few were in attendance and NO ONE enjoyed the movie. My teenage daughter was not impressed and would have walked out of the theatre…definitely not a DWP movie which we have seen many times. Who ever thought James Bond would be in a musical…UGH.
Do want to see XF-2 even though it sounds bad, just won’t rush to the theatre.
My girlfriend and her mother saw X-Files last night and they both loved it. I wasn’t too interested in seeing it before, but now I’m curious. I haven’t read any reviews of it, but the word of mouth thats gotten to me has so far all been quite good.
Gas prices, will not allow batman too put up numbers, that beat titanic. Because if it wasn’t for that. I would have gone back too see it already!!!!!! Economy is too bad right now. People, want too see it, and simply can’t afford it. I saw it luckily!! want too see it again, and haven’t been able too afford too do so.
I’ve seen Dark Knight, and I was ready to have my socks blown off. It never happened. Christian Bale’s acting seems muted for some reason, almost as if BatMan was a minor character. Ledger’s Joker was good, but not great, and I never felt the “Oscar Worthiness” of Ledger’s portrayal that everyone IN THE PRESS is howling about.
Frankly, it just wasn’t that good of a movie. This is all the result of marketing hype.
Ledger’s Oscar hype was not for portrayal of the character, it was for acting. He transformed himself into the character by changing everythign from his voice to his laugh to his body language.
What on earth are you smoking?
Titanic brought out little old ladies who had not seen a movie in a theatre in years. Dark Knight will never do that. So consider Titanic the champ….still.
Am I the only one who really didn’t like The Dark Knight all that much!?
Now I read that it might break ‘Titanic’’s Box Office take! Why!?
The film (B-T.D.K.) was too long and strangely edited! The Joker character was left hanging, (didn’t the Jack Nicholson version fall off the clock tower at the end of the first Batman picture!?)
The Dark Knight is really just a vain exercise in ‘grabbing the greenbacks’ in my humble opinion!
Show me some real quality please Christopher Nolan … Banished to the Bat Cave! You’ve got the money now make the masterpiece!! (Please don’t make me beg!)
Gone With The Wind is tops in adjusted gross revenue, but don’t forget Birth of a Nation, which actually sold the most tickets ever in actual quantity.
Re TDK as Bush—and here I thought it was like *Israel*—The Good Guys know it’s doing right (the best you can do living in a terrible neighborhood), but it has to be reviled to be PC. Let’s hope the country sticks around as long as the sequels.
Joe Gillis,
Isn’t your view rather parochial and nationalistic? Don’t Canadians have a right to work?
When FOX says the negative was 30m, do they actually mean that ALL costs for the film only cost 30m? marketing and everything?
I see the studio plants have arrived on this blog. Was probably only a matter of time. Can’t you get a studio-plant comments filter, Nikki?
P.S. Are they so dumb as to make it so obvious? Multiple mentions of how audiences applauded only comments apart.
I’m really disappointed that The X-Files bombed. This was a movie that was actually from the heart of the creators and actors, rather than cheap attempts to cash in on old shows like Get Smart, Starsky & Hutch, Bewitched, etc. that just want to mock television from the past.
It feels good knowing that the fans got a farewell, while the characters now have a sense of closure in their lives.
I saw The Dark Knigth and it was great, I loved Heath as the Joker, but I don’t know he seemed more like the main character and Batman as a minor character…. Maggy Gyllenhaal was aweful, I didn’t like her so much…. This movie was great, but not awesome… I think is all the hype is getting….
If this movie is ‘paean of praise’ for Bush, it’s propaganda. But’s it’s certainly no ‘Triumph of the Will’…There are some weird connections, though. The ‘temporary’ illegal surveillance…’enhanced interrogation’ techniques…’leader’ to believe in (no matter the real truth, which is actively hidden by those in power to prevent staining a public ‘ideal’)…
As a Canadian I whole heartedly agree. Most times I realize a film was made here (Toronto) I know it’s going to be shite.
I watched Duchovny on Letterman Thursday night, and I was surprised how boring and unpleasant he seemed. There was just a lot of endless talk about him moving back to New York, and then he told this kind of creepy story about his son being stung by a bee on his penis. That took up both segments and they barely even talked about the film. I was a fan of the show, and semi-interested in seeing the sequel, but that kind of killed it off. Apparently everyone else who saw it felt the same way.
Can’t believe the sloppy marketing on X Files 2. They had such a great mythology to pour from to get the old fans excited again, maybe via some public stunts, some leaks, something – but they sat on their ass.
In the public perception, the mediocre first movie was a burden here too. That should have been adressed somehow as well.
As one of those rabid X-files fans, I didn’t see the movie yet. I’d say most X-files fans are older now, pretty much have to be since the shows been off the air for so long. Not many rushing off to the theaters but we’ll get there eventually.
It will probably do ok but isn’t going to be a blockbuster.
Batman is going to be pretty near impossible to beat for the year but I doubt it will come close to Titanic. Titanic had incredible longevity and did start out at a slower pace but just kept going and going and going….
“Don’t Canadians have a right to work?”
No. “It’s not even a real country, anyway.”
These batman fanboys need to get a grip. Until you start talking about INFLATION ADJUSTED dollars, then this “10 days to reach 200 million” is a waste of time. I paid 10.50 to see batman. I paid 7.50 to see titanic. Off my rudimentary calculations, batman would have to make at least 2.5 billion to be even.

You can’t go by the CPI to get inflation adjusted dollars because the CPI is a total fraud. The BLS has never put out an honest number.
We should just use “units sold” to calculate records like the music industry, but we don’t do that because it would be embarrassing for everyone to find out how even with with a gazillion screens, less people are going to the movies than ever.
BALE LOOKED AT LITTLE BORED in TDK (maybe it’s because the “Joker” overshadowed him), but the film was awesome and can’t wait for the DVD with extras and maybe alt…ending?
Show me some real quality please Christopher Nolan … Banished to the Bat Cave!
With witticisms like that, you might be more comfortable with the Schumacher versions.
The Joker was left hanging in front of a Swat team to be taken into custody and not be knocked from the series. There was kind of a long conversation about them needing each other. That’s one of the main points of the entire comic series.
Why you chose to even bring up the end of the Burton Batman film in reference to the choices made in this one can only be explained in that it was brought up by a person who uses “strangely edited” as a descriptive term.
That X-Files total is just weird. I’m not a fan but I remember a couple of my friends in high school were huge fans, talked about the show all the time. And I know the show had a very vocal fanbase while it was still on, so I can’t understand why this didn’t make more money solely based on the nostalgia factor. This wasn’t a show no one watched or cared about. Only thing I can come up with is that they shouldn’t have released this movie during the summer in such a crowded marketplace. Maybe if they’d held off until fall or spring where there’s not much else to see.
Hey RonS:
YOU go directly to Hell, you and all the Bush Derangement prolls.
The symmetry between Bush and Batman is something that caught my attention as well, in that both are vilified for doing the right thing, and saving peoples’ lives. But of course, scumbags like you would not lift a butt cheeck to help anyone else, so you hate those who do. I’ll tell you this much: The similarities are not missed on the average movie-goer. No matter what, people still appreciate the guy for standing up to terrorism, no matter how shrill his detractors remain.
I’m glad to see X-Files tank. Terrible TV series, the money should have been saved to make a better movie.
WTF is DC up to by making a movie of “Watchmen” next? Don’t they realize they should have gone with one of their top-shelf franchises instead to capitalize off The Batman? Perhaps even a Superman movie that is remotely watchable…?
Green Lantern’s emotional journey with his alien ring is much like Cheney’s in the early days of the Afghanastan wham bam -
think about it
RE David and CJones, I fail to see how the movie didn’t live up to the hype. I was seriously concerned the hype would deaden the film for me, but I got just the opposite: an engrossing crime thriller that poses intriguing moral questions and delivers the kind of nuance the Nolans demonstrated in all their previous work with a scale the size of Gotham to work on. The writing was carefully constructed, the plot was top-notch, and Nolan’s directing was at once stark and haunting and action-packed and riveting. For a director who doesn’t do action films, or even studio films, the remarkably assured manner in which he did the set pieces was phenomenal. Bale’s performance, as usual, was one of a haunted man trying his best not to let it show. While he’s not the best actor alive, he fits the character nicely enough for me. Ledger’s joker – “good not great?” Compared to what? It easily goes down for me as one of the top 5 or 10 perfs by an actor in cinema history. You want Nolan to deliver the next time? He admitted that he didn’t think in terms of two additional films because he wanted to put all of his quality into TDK. I cringe to think the team behind “Following” and “Memento” would engage in a “vain exercise in ‘grabbing the greenbacks.’” The Nolans wanted to make a quality film, a movie that wasn’t just a good Superhero film, a light breezy summer actioner, but a movie that was Batman and was good of its own right. I just wish everyone in the industry tried so hard to make summer films quality and not just effects-heavy.
RonS and Yosemite… both of you are dumbasses. I would bet though if they made a reference to the Obamassiah in the article then you both would be messin your panties. Jeez, its just a movie…. lighten up Francis..
“What on earth are you smoking?”
Same stuff he’s been smoking for 8 years now.
The macro-political point is pretty clear; You run around playing superhero, you’ll always generate an oppostional force of equivalent power. Batman running around town flexing his muscles leaves the people he’s hunting with no choice but to increase their own level of violence.
Batman turns the city into a nightmare. He yanks out every crazy from their basement to street level. Everyone wants a piece of the action, and it’s Batman who ultimately determines the what and how of the action.
Joker minues Batman is a petty crook. Joker plus Batman equals brutal destruction, everywhere.
It’s just a shame that with the Dark Knight, Ledger’s last hit was his forehead on his living room floor and Bale’s was his shoulder into his mother’s face.
Dark Knight=Overrated.
What a snoozer and Ledger’s performance was only a myth hyped up by greedy companies that wanted to make a quick buck off his death. Those who saw it and praise it must have been smoking something excellent they failed to share with me.
Mr S, clearly you don’t understand acting. ledger transformed himself for the role, he disappeared into the character, it was character acting at it’s finest.
@ Crystal Diane Stevens:
Have you actually seen “Californication”? It’s a perfect vehicle for Duchovny’s wry, self-deprecating humor… and he actually deserved the Golden Globe for that role. Not to mention that he and Gillian Anderson reinvented themselves ever since “The X-Files” went off the air to avoid being typecast… they’re very much NOT in demand right now.
In fact, Duchovny and Anderson had signed on to do the sequel for significantly less than $1 million upfront (but you also have to take in consideration that they have backend deals in place too).
I can understand how some people just can’t see any reason for us to cheer each time TDK makes a few million dollars more.
But sometimes an artist performs so well you literally throw money at him, it has been a tradition in many parts of the world for countless years. Sometimes a movie is so good you want all your friends to see it, and even people you may not know. Sometimes a movie redefining its genre that performs so well at the box office, means that you can hope for even greater things to come.
This has to beat Titanic. It has to.
Too long??
It wasn’t long enough!
TDK absolutely has a chance at beating Titanic’s record. We’ll have to see how it does after the first couple weeks of August to have an idea. It’s too early to tell. I really don’t see the big deal about Titanic. Yeah, it’s a good movie, sure, but is it really THAT great?
Can’t wait for Heath Ledger to win the oscar for best supporting actor!
Fox wanted X Files to bomb. It should have been released in the winter and it would have found an audience. I am very disappointed it is not doing well, as I really wanted a 3rd movie to wrap up the mythology. Maybe people will realize it’s a smart thinking-man’s thriller and go check it out in the coming weeks.
hey yosemite
i dont why you would make a comparison btw batman and g.w. (the first a hero, the latter a douche) but you just make yourself look like the biggest idiot. if anything g.w. should be compared to the joker but no, now that i think about it, thats is not a good one either, since the joker was too fascinatingly brilliant. i guess that dirt bag cannot be compared to anyone…
on a different note, heath ledger was so amazing in this movie. really the performance of a lifetime. whenever he was not in the frame i would just ache, i wanted to see this guy act so much. no vanity and no reservations. a really good performance. totally oscar worthy.
“It’s major bullsh*t. Titanic reached 200 million in its 48th day. Dark Knight in its 5th.”
But Titanic did not follow the normal pattern. It only made $20-some million it’s first weekend, but it’s second and third weekends it continued to rise. Pretty much every other movie (I think every other movie) makes huge money it’s opening weekend and then drops off pretty quickly. Dark Knight dropped 66% after the first weekend and that was considered low, considering the massive opening. It could still reach Titanic levels, but a lot will depend on repeat business. Titanic has huge repeat business with people (usually young and teenage women) seeing it 3, 4 and 5 times or more. I saw it 3 times in the theater, I plan to see TDK at least once more, but I’m a movie freak. What matters is what regular movie goers do.
Heath Ledger was phenomenal as the joker. The movie is pure entertainment so the big box office numbers surprise me not in the least!
Nolan has been a pretentious wanker since “Following,” and “TDK” shows that he hasn’t changed his stripes any.
I don’t think there’s been a movie as overhyped (and overrated) this decade.
Eckhart is the best thing in the film.
If you want to see a truly delicious commedia dell’arte performance, check out James Franco in “Pineapple Express.” Like everything else about “TDK,” Ledger’s performance has been ridiculously oversold.
DARK KNIGHT!!! Good movie; yet, nothing hands down first-rate Oscar deserving.
The issue with beating Titanic is completely staying power and not initial success. Titanic’s biggest week wasn’t its initial release – it was a totally anomalous box office pattern. Dark Knight has thus far acted like a standard blockbuster – a well-received blockbuster that’s declining slowly, but a blockbuster nonetheless. But Titanic came out, essentially, in a dead season (running post-Christmas for the most part) and dominated the box office through the dead season. Dark Knight came toward the end of the summer blockbuster season, but it still has to content with Tropic Thunder, a Star Wars movie, and The Mummy – all of which pull a $30m that would unseat it, and two of which – Star Wars and The Mummy – are going for the same demo as Dark Knight.
It is entirely a case of gym rats to compare the box office of a 2008 film to one release in the 1970s. Ticket prices have gone up over 1000%.
considering that titanic actually sucked and would not make any money today because it was stupid, I hope the Dark Knight does beat it.
This is all titanic was about. A brat of a girl with red hair and JACK! ROSE! JACK ROSE!
BORING!
To those who poo poo Titanic I give you this: There has never been a movie released before or since that almost guaranteed ,as Titanic did, scoring on the first date. I went to it 4 times with 4 different women and went home satisfied each time, and it wasn’t because of the acting.
Now as far as Batman beating Titanic or setting a new box office record, I doubt it. Other than Australia or Great Britain, Batman is not really that big of a deal to foreigners.
Another note is that even if it were to surpass with todays dollars it still won’t surpass it with inflation adjusted, and forget even sniffing Gone with the Wind which sold 200+ million tickets in the US(almost twice the total US population), twice that globally(it has one of the longest runs in theaters in the UK in history at 4 years).
sounds like a windfall profit…maybe congress should tax it!!
You know, I adored The X-Files. I watched every episode, and I saw both movies on their respective opening nights … and even I was underwhelmed by the second film. I wanted to like it – I wanted to love it, I wanted that potential third film to be made – but it disappointed me.
“The only reason why Titanic made so much money was due to gossipy housewives. Get them to watch TDK 5-15 times like they did a decade ago and we might have a new #1.”
wow, took the words out of my mouth. i still wish TDK would beat it. titanic sucked..
and as for x files bombing? i couldnt care less. looks terrible, espceially with the horrible reviews its getting.
Once the teens gets the Jokers “Jack Sparrow” syndrome out of their heads the movie will die out. The question is will it be at 400m, 500m or 600m?? While I agree that the film is above standard for its genre I think the kids and some Hollywood Pundits and blogs are intentionally out to make it the record breaker it has become for whatever reason and not so much that they are in love with the film. I could be wrong. Actually I am ticked off that AARON ECKHART isn’t getting more or as much credit for the success of this film as Ledger is. Eckhart was the best thing in the film. I am also ticked off that I have to see the newly released films in smaller screening rooms as TDK is still soaking up the bigger screeing rooms due to its boxoffice success. When will this sickly hysteria die out?
Ticket prices for Titanic were in the 5 per head while current prices are over 7. Every new quality block buster will have record returns with rising ticket prices. Why the big hububaloo here?
Re: Box office comparisons between different films.
It seems a lot of people aren’t aware fo the difference between films released in different era’s.
You can’t simply compare grosses. Gone With The Wind was realeased in theaters 10 times, Star Wars 5 times plus the SE. No modern film is re-released in the same fashion.
Second, there was no widespread access to TV (pre-1950’s) and home video (pre-1980’s) adding to the movie’s revenues – you can’t say one film grossed more *in total* just based on inflation-adjusted cinema admissions if you are comparing different era’s. films earned dollars in deifferent ways.
Also note calculating # of admissions from average ticket prices across the industry is unfair to films which skew to child admissions, vs. one’s that skew to adults.
There are absolutely parallels with President GW Bush and Batman. Both risk their own reputations to save the lives of a bunch of ungrateful citizens that turn on them the moment times turn tough. I just knew all of your sniveling, liberal pansies couldn’t keep up the “united front” more than a couple of weeks after 9-11. Bush said back then it would be long and hard…99% of us said “yeah, we know and we support you!” Yet, here we are. No one likes war…Bush doesn’t want our guys being killed…but he’s a big boy and knows sometimes in this world war IS necessary. Now for the rest of you Woodstock rejects or wannabes, keep supporting the left wing community organizer from Chicago for president. That idiot thinks we have 57 states and makes Bush look eloquent when he’s speaking away from a teleprompter…not that the media ever shows Obama’s stuttering bumbling.
Those who think the Dark Knight was a good film also seem to think Barack Obama would make a good president. In other words they’re all slobbering knuckle dragging morons.
Dark Knight has to be the most overrated piece of garbage since Phantom Menace. 2 hours of boredom and a non-existent Oscar worthy performance from a man who overdosed and yet receives praise. Go figure.
Actually, I do like the fact that you implicitly admit that Bush is a miserable speaker in general, Chad. Very refreshing.
Hey Chad and the rest of you Bush apologists. In case you have not been paying attention; IRAQ DID NOT ATTACK US!!. And Bin Ladin and the resurgent Taliban are doing just fine in Afghanistan/Pakistan. I guess Bush’s approval rating in the mid 20’s is some type of mass halucination. I don’t know how this pitifull excuse for a president can sleep at night, knowing that the blood of over 4100 young Americans is on his hands because of his war of choice. Are we sure the Batman/Bush comparison is not from Mad magazine? No reputable publication could suggest such a thing. It must be satire.
TDK’s run is impressive, but we’ll see if it has the legs to keep it up after week 4. Titanic was not frontloaded in it’s grosses during it’s phenomenal run. In the end, I think TDK ends up no.2 domestic with $525mil. The Mummy, that new Star Wars cartoon, Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, and others are coming in the next few weeks and they’ll eat into theater/screen counts and box office revenue. Anyway, TDK was awesome, my only complain is Batman’s Voice. It was ok if he was saying 2-3 words, but when he was speaking in long drawn out sentences it was just painful.
Gary K…Germany didn’t attack us in WW II either…I guess you would have been against that as well. Saddam Hussein was a sworn enemy of the U.S…his removal is nothing but a positive. Do I think things could have been handled better after the initial invasion? Yeah. But good grief, hindsight is 20/20…the same people bashing Bush now in Congress are the same ones that supported him initially when they saw the SAME intelligence he did in Iraqi WMDs. Then, when times get tough, the Democrats want to slip on a pair of panties and start whining. Based on the info the CIA was giving him, Bush would have been playing russion roulette with U.S. security by NOT going into Iraq. Was it bad intelligence? Maybe…but after 8 years of clinton budget cuts to national security endeavors, it wouldn’t be surprising.
As for Bush’s speaking ability. No, he’s a horrible public speaker…which has been his biggest downfall…his lack of ability to convey what needs to be laid out to the American people. But Obama is the biggest joke in presidential politics since Howard Taft. (look it up)
Gary K-
It isn’t worth arguing with Chad. He’s just spouting Rush Limbaugh’s talking points, and obviously doesn’t have an original thought in his head. It’s both ironic and fitting that the Republicans have become this desperate.
“Those who think the Dark Knight was a good film also seem to think Barack Obama would make a good president. In other words they’re all slobbering knuckle dragging morons.” – TheRealSouthernMan
OK, well TDK has made over $300 million in the past 10 days, and reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. I guess that means McCain is SCREWED. Don’t like it? Then feel free to cut and run off to another country, RealSouthernDBag.
who cares how much money this movie is going to make (unless you are all studio execs, actors and producers) – all that matters is that The Dark Knight is a wonderful movie (much better than Titanic).
Actually sean, you and your hate America Liberal buddies have been more than welcome to leave the country if you guys hate it so much yet you all remain here. Hmmm..
And heaven forbid I disagree with the almighty critics. I hated the film and didn’t see this phantom Oscar worthy performance from the late Heath Ledger. He was OK but man talk about overrated. But hey I guess I’ll hop on the next plane to France since apparently I’m supposed to agree with the supporters of the DO NOTHING Congress. Besides Sarkozy loves the US more than its citizens do anyway.
After all the hype… Dark Knight was a bust. An overrated portrayl of the Joker by Heath Ledger, a monotone, sounding totally bored Christian Bale and a plot that was destined to go nowhere admist some clunky actions scenes. If this is what passes for quality movies that is just the saddest of sad.
If Ledger wins an Oscar they might as well hand a belated award to David Spade for Joe Dirt since the two were equal for quality.
I saw TDK on Friday to see “what the fuss is about”, and I’m still wondering. It was good, but not great (same with Titanic). Joker was a great character for the first 90 minutes, but for the last hour it was “enough already”. Editing was choppy due to obvious cuts to get to PG-13 — often hard to tell exactly what happened. A shame that Titanic and TDK will be 1 and 2 — rather than quality, sometimes a film just gets lucky (public obsession with Ledger’s death, Celine Dion’s song).
“But as a whole, the X-Files is over. The public at large just doesn’t care any more. Even many of its fans don’t care any more. They’re done being ripped off by Carter and his anti-closure, anti-resolution writing attitudes.”
Amen, Ike. Anyone who followed the original show for any length of time knows that what made TXF truly great in the first place were the episodes written by Morgan and Wong and Vince Gilligan. Those guys introduced most of the elements that really made the series click, and if they had written an XF movie without Carter’s interference, we might have really had something.
please don’t brag about spending $7.50 to watch a movie that you already knew the ending too forget $$ We all make mistakes but go see TDK in Imax Dark Knight was ten times the movie that sappy Titanic was. Its a lot easier when you have 80 plus years of history documentaries plus to use as the basis of the film The Dark Knight was the greatest comic related film ever and will outgross Spiderfluff etc on an inflation basis. People complaining about the movie making $$ why do u think they make movies? All this discussion only makes TDK more and more $$ the amount of $$ spent in production on spiderfluff3 was also $100 million higher
The Dark Knight making all that money just goes to show you what people consider to be a good films anymore. Pity. I’ve never seen so many have such low standards.
30 mil to make IWTB?? I swore I saw the cost in Wikopedia as 80 mil. I remember showing my husband ( so I have a witness, too bad I didn’t save it) and doing a comparasion w/ FTF which was 66 mil. and wondered how, even without special effects they could do a movie for 14 mil less, ten years later. I wonder if they just changed the numbers to make the profit margin look better.
Yo Joe Gillis.
The X-Files was shot up here for 5 seasons, and has Canada’s gorgeous scenery to thank for its signature look and feel. Many fans and critics felt it lost its eerie otherwordly feel when production moved to LA. Money issues aside, if the filmmakers chose to return to Canada to recapture that original look and feel, well, what’s wrong with that? I understand that you see filmmaking as a business, but remember that it’s also an art.
Also: Uhhh… Canadians are “taking” your jobs??? So, you were hired by The X-Files and then some nasty-wasty Canadian came along and ripped the job out of your bitter little hands? Look buddy, we need to work too. We consume TONS of American media… if you want our money (which is pretty much as good as yours nowadays), you’re going to have to stop biting one of the many international hands that feeds you.
“Don’t Canadians have a right to work?”
No. “It’s not even a real country, anyway.”

I hope this is a joke.
anybody bashing tdk, either does not really understand the significance of the characters, has never read the comic, doesnt understand the undertones that exist in it,is not familiar with the actual relationship that exist between the characters and doesnt see that heath ledger buried hismelf in this character, the part he played was so far and beyond the actual person he is , its hard to beleive its him in the film. those who say his performance wasnt great does not know who the joker is, what he represents, and what he symbolizes. and if u dont want to look in it, u look like a bigger douche because the theaters continue to be packed, i went to see it in imax once again last thurs 2 weeks after the initial release and its still sold out out here in manhattan. it still gets applause, and still stuns people in a way i havent seen in yrs. and im a huuuge movie guy. i see em all, blockbusters, thrillers, dramas, epics, i love em all. none wowed more than the dark knight(only thing that comes close is return of the king in recent yrs). maybe those who bash this movie fail to consider a comic book movie to be a serious movie, but realize this, take ur history lesson, in x-men, batman, the watchmen, superman, etc and u will see the sophistication of these very complexed and well constructed stories that still holds the attention of vast varieties of people who read comics. the joker represents who everyone truly is deep down inside. hes not just challenging batman physically or mentally, hes challenging his very existence. batmans existence attracts the worst kind of people and he has to deal with it.i would like to ask for anyone bashing tdk, hear what is being said, try to understand what the movie is trying to say, and if u dont, then ur just not that bright! becuz if all u saw was trucks tippig over, and things blowing up,lack of dialougue, a dull plot then u need to go to an intro to theater class and learn how to watch a movie, becuz all of my prof said the movie is surprisingly deep and dark and complex and i told them it would be good for them to see and i was right. maybe the douches dont want to give credit to something they dont respect(like comics). who cares if it breaks titanics record or not. titanic is a good movie, but inferior in regards to reading into characters, situations, psychology, and pure movie making. there was only one scene in the dark knight that used cgi heavily if not none at all which was the dive scene, other than that it was shot old school, they really flipped a truck, they drove actual cars down actual roads, this was a movie not a comic book movie, i wouldnt say its godfather 2 but its the godfather 2 of comic movies. batman is the most romantic of comics ever produced and nolan delivers. it has its flaws just like everymovie because opinions r like noses, everyones got one, but u cant deny that its great, for the very small percentage of the people hating it, its ur choice to hate but it would be better to stay the silent minority who will be looked at like they have three heads.the fallen white knight the hero that gotham was ready for fell, the best of everyone, the best of all of us was corrupted, and embrace the dark knight, the hero gotham isnt ready for, the tormented vigilante, the silent protector(who will save u even when u dont wish to be saved, he will be hunted, hated, but he will still watch over u. and why did he take fall? because he can handle it. yea try to tell me spiderman had anything close to that jack!!!! or any other movie this yr for that matter, and if u dont think heath deserves an oscar i would loooove to know who wins it and i would pay to see that performance. but ive seen practically everymovie worth watching this yr, and heath blows anybody away. the joker is a murderer, a man with no sound voice, a man who cant be reasoned with, and thats a man who will force u to change the way u think about dealing with madmen. u have to go farther than he would to stop him. this was not heath ledger a mild mannered quiet nice guy, sure he had his problems, but doesnt everyone? but heath wasnt in this movie, he was the joker. and if u think he was weak in the movie then maybe u never heard of the joker in ur life! the joker lives for the applause(hes been getting it), he lives for bad jokes, and he lives to see the world burn for no particular reason and he nailed it all the way!
Erm.. Javier…
Your rant would have made more sense and taken more seriously if you had bothered to use spell check and not bash away at the keyboard as if you were hastily typing a text message to your home boys. And Dark Knight was an overrated mess of a film and I continue to marvel at the money wasted on it.
The x files: I want to believe felt exactly like a two part episode of the original series. A ‘monster of the week’ with same cerebral elements contained in the original show. The cinematography was very much in line with anything from the 5th or 6th season and the dialogue was amazing throughout. Only those with a vocabulary should even attempt to see this film. Everyone else can go see the Dark Knight. I honestly don’t care if the film bombed or not, because the difference between the X files and batman is like the difference between a book on esoteric philosophy and a romance novel. One is designed for the few who understand, the other is designed for the masses.
Newsflash: Titanic isn’t the biggest movie of all time – that is 1939’s Gone With The Wind. According to figures, approximately twice as many people saw GWTW in US as Titanic
I finally saw the new X files movie after reading many a negative critique. However, after the Time review and Ebert’s take, I gave in and attended the show. It was excellent. Perhaps CGI has forever colored the worldview of critics. Nevertheless, the X Files I Want to Beleive is a solid thriller with superb acting. It is indeed a “thinking man’s” scary movie.
Joe Gillis
What is wrong with you? You do realize that the Dark Knight was mostly filmed in the United Kingdom. But hey as long as it is filmed anywhere but Canada you’re fine with it. Try thinking for once in your life, you cannot honestly believe that Canadians are taking your jobs. Have fun boycotting ever movie that is made outside the U.S. I think you should never watch a movie unless the entire cast and crew are from the U.S., have fun with that. You deserve to be unemployed if you are that dumb. By the way the Canadian dollar is higher.
Saw The most awaited X-file movie, and it is very entertaining, it hasnt lost its magic to me. I love it!.I will buy DVD of it to add to my collection.
X-Files is still the best sequels and very entertaining thriller ever made.I made sure to watch the X-file movie in my busy life and schedule. Those who have not watch it yet, go and watch it.It is worth it.!
um…. why is everyone talking about batman and gearge bush have in common? 1. george bush is real, batman is not real. batman is a fantasy character. batman is good. bush is evil. batman doesn’t kill good people. bush kills innocent people. bush doesn’t care for his country. batman cares for people in Gotham. bush admitted that he like to be a warhead(sicko movie). batman doesn’t cause wars in other countries. batman wears a suit. bush doesn’t. i just don’t see what they have in common. dark knight is my fav. movie.
the ever greatest and inspirational movie ever made
