I'm only reporting this because NBC is trying to keep all details about the show under wraps. The spin-off now with the Baby Mama and SNL star debuts on Super Bowl Sunday in February 2009 after NBC's The Office.

This is perhaps the best news ever.
Good news, but I have to wonder what this means for her SNL career. She can’t keep them both up.
I think I’d rather see her take Conan’s spot rather than that Jimmy Fallen guy. That’s how you spell his name, right?
Amy’s really funny. I hope the show includes another funny lady from SNL… Rachel Dratch. She got screwed over by NBC on 30 Rock. This would make up for it.
FALLON.
And she was leaving SNL anyway.
Any Amy Poehler anywhere is good news.
But she is so much more than Steve Carell!
I used to see her in theatres in New York with 8 or 9 people in the audience.
She’s spellbinding.
She is every bit Lucille Ball with the talent to method act as well. In “Baby Mama” the camera was drawn to her in the same way it was to Katharine Hepburn. And I’m serious.
The woman can do anything that she sets her mind at doing.
Mike Nichols should do a Lily Tomlin/Whoopi Goldberg-type show with her.
Dave Becky! (Great guy, great manager!) Mike Nichols! It’s a great idea and they have that Chicago improv connection!
Amy, all good things to you and yours.
No, that’s not right. You spell “Fallon” w-a-s-t-e o-f a-i-r-t-i-m-e.
Why “Only reporting this because NBC is trying to keep it under wraps?”. If they weren’t trying would you not care?
If Lorne Michaels had any sense, he’d give Bill Hader the Weekend Update slot.
No, that’s not right. You spell “Fallon” w-a-s-t-e o-f a-i-r-t-i-m-e.
Waste O Fair Time?
WTF?
Nikki..this is the damn best news I have read so far this week.
Enough with unfunny men from SNL hitting it big and only to falter later. Yes Carell, you are next in line.
She so deserved the attention and her time is now.
I think a spinoff is a horrible idea, but if anyone could save it, it’s Poehler.
And I think NBC made the right call with Dratch. I just can’t see her pulling it off like Jane Krakowski has, she has been hilarious on the show.
And when Dratch was on every one of the first few episodes in various bit parts, it sometimes worked but more often than not it was just distracting. I’d love to see the original pilot though, has it leaked anywhere?
Sometimes the network is right. And you can’t hire someone just because they’re a friend.
And I have to agree, the “‘m only reporting this because NBC is trying to keep all details about the show under wraps” comment makes no sense at all.
“What are you laughing at? And if you say Jimmy Fallon, I’ll know you’re lying!”
She is the best on SNL and I hope she maintains on SNL. But I can’t wait to see this spin-off. It seems too good to be true about the casting. I just hope the show is good.
(Steve) Carell’s not FROM SNL, so WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???
Now I might actually start watching “The Office”.
“No, that’s not right. You spell “Fallon” w-a-s-t-e o-f a-i-r-t-i-m-e.
Waste O Fair Time?
WTF?”
Waste of airtime, schmuck. Observe the spaces between “waste” and “of” and “of” and “airtime.”

For being my moron, you sure have some attitude doncha!
Sorry, my mistake. Was referring to Ferell.
But I am sure Carell is not far-off. Over-exposure anyone? And please..he is NOT that funny but seems only moron will get his jokes..LOL
I don’t know what you all are talking about. She is the definition of a hack. She is unfunny and annoying. The only reason she has any career is due to Tina Fey.
That “unfunny and annoying” woman just got an emmy nomination for SNL…although considering they also gave a number of nominations to Two and a Half Men, I’m not sure what that says…
Back on topic, it has been reported that the office spinoff is dead. NBC is talking to Pohler, but for an original show from Greg Daniels.
I’m so glad to see I’m not the only person in the world that doesn’t understand how Amy Poehler is supposed to be so talented and funny. Rachel Dratch, Kristin Wiig, Maya Rudolph – that’s talent. But Amy Poehler? I’ve never understood why she’s the most famous of them all. She rarely makes me laugh.
