And a special reunion from the cast of “I Married Dora!”
Nikki, the AMPTP took out a big ad in the trades touting their side and saying they already pay for streaming downloads. Are you going to cover this? I’d hate to think you’re getting scooped by the Associated Press.
A big tip of the hat to all those that put faces on the words for their support.

Oh really AMPTP… easy to prove.
Open the books.
“show me the money”

I have to say if the star marches are organized to help the WGA with the public, bad move. It’s enough that the big known hyphenates march..but celebs do not garner alot of sympathy. Indeed if you are trying to scare the AMPTP with star power, you gotta amp up the names. Not a movie star in the bunch, tho Jason Bateman deserves some sprinkle for his move.
No one is afraid that Ray Romano won’t work for them.
Its nice that those actors are standing in line for a day, but it wont really do anything to help end the strike. FORCING the other side requires raw power. If the top 20 acting names refused to close a deal until this strike was over, you may see mountains move. But it’s not like they are going to do that.
Good for Ray Romano. Eighty-six years old and still out there every day with a sign in his hand.
There are plenty of TV stars walking the picket line, but why are there so few movie stars doing it?
While I admire the enthusiasm of WGA members I meet walking the line, those of us old enough to remember the strike of ‘88 know that those picket signs are going to get heavier every day. Been there. Done that.
I remain hopeful that our leadership is working behind the scenes to get us back to the negotiating table. This dispute can’t be resolved on the street. It can only be settled through negotiations.
I am delighted the actors are showing up. During labor disputes, strong public shows of support lead to action. The next thing is to keep the publicity going for several weeks. Consistent momentum is critical.
I love that basically only TV actors are picketing. Guess why? Their bosses are writers! In features we’re still short order cooks taking everyone else’s orders!!

I would say the movie stars aren’t there because they are working on movies, written by WGA members who were already paid for the work they performed.
It’s the same reason crews are still working on shows with scripts.
Most, certainly not all, of the actors at the lines are ones who aren’t working, or are maybe off for that day.
No one from 24, though. Not that its surprising, given the stuff that Joel Surnow is saying.

Ouch?
You guys are in for a world of pain. We are getting calls by the dozens from tv actors’ agents who want to know if their client can do movies during the strike. These actors that you think are supporting you are going to get paid out of their contracts and be able to take movie roles while you’re walking the picket lines.
Why has the DGA been so quiet regarding the strike?
