I heard that Conan O'Brien's producer Jeff Ross was telling Hollywood yesterday that "having Jay at 10 PM is better than having Jay at 11:30 PM and competing against him." Then Conan addressed the Leno situation tonight on his Late Night show: "I wanted to make something very clear here on the show this evening. I've known about this for a while. I've talked a lot about this with Jay. I am thrilled. I am absolutely thrilled that Jay is staying at NBC. He has been my lead-in on this program for 16 seasons. He is a fantastic lead-in. He is a huge part of my success. I am indebted to Jay Leno. And I love the idea that that relationship is going to continue. He is going to be my lead-in continuing, I hope, for a long, long time. So congratulations to Jay Leno."
Conan O'Brien Weighs In On Leno Deal

what a load of horseshit, but what else can Conan say about the matter?
I believe him, that goes beyond the normal statement and was pretty gracious and Leno and O’Brien have always had a fine relationship.
Conan is a classy guy. No surprises here.
I agree that Conan is classy and sincere.
Please clone Conan. We need more Conans.
Conan clones. Have you done that skit yet, Conan? Could you do that for me?
Sure he is….until!
A list guest to Conan booker: Would love to guest but I’m on Leno in Prime time.
Then when Conan (whose demos are jumping up) gets pulled and Leno has tanked the 10-11 slot; out goes Conan and back to 11 30 goes Jay….OR if he fails at 10 and Conan somehow makes it…then Jay gets bumped and goes to ABC, FOX or Syndi and picks up a load of cash and is right back in the 11 30 slot!
No more non compete clause. It’s a brilliant win win for Leno and stupid Zucker will get it in the end.
The big question nobody is asking is what happens if NBC’s experiment fails? What if “The Jay Leno Show” gets cancelled after a year? How does NBC fill the gaping hole so quickly?
Conan’s just putting on a good face, NBC screwed him over in so many ways. If Leno gets the good guests Conan could get the b list leftovers, and Leno’s show could hurt O’Brien’s ratings. But Leno’s got problems of his own, what network is going to let one of their actors appear on Leno’s show and appear opposite themselves on Leno’s show. If say, an actor appears on Leno promoting a movie what is the point of going on Conan O’Brien’s show? If I were Conan I’d be royally pissed right now. He’s probably putting on a good face for the press. I understand why NBC is putting Leno on in primetime it saves them a lot of money. But I can’t help but suspect it will be a colossal failure. Which is par for the course on NBC.
