• Real Time became irrelevant somewhere around 2007, when it devolved from being a bipartisan discussion/debate show to Bill Maher’s Let’s Clap for HuffPo Talking Points & Boo at Religion.

• Odd: When BM signed off on his last original show in early October, he said new episodes would return Feb 19. So HBO puts out an announcement about the series’ “renewal” now? If HBO were just stalling to announce closer to the show’s return, that would mean post-Jan 1. Wondering if there was a contract dispute, either over HBO’s new plan to run the show at both 9P and 11P ET (originally it ran at just 11P, this past year it went to 10P and 11P) or over the show’s odd format changes last season, which often fell flat (sometimes just 2 guests…sometimes a guest drop-in to the panel conversation…sometimes entire shows of just BM doing 1-on-1 interviews). How this all is playing out doesn’t feel right.

• I am confused by those arguing about a political slant to this show. Are there no radio shows or cable talk shows that have conservative angle or bias?

• What a shame Bill Maher had to take his excellent brand of humor to cable after ABC kowtowed to the conservative suits. Much like they did over the T.O./Nicolette Sheridan pre-Monday night football game skit.

  Network television sucks! Jay Leno being the exception of course.
