I've learned that Paradigm, CAA and WMA were all pursuing a deal to acquire the independent music agency Ellis Industries based in New York. The reason was Matt Galle and his client list. But then, the tenpercenteries changed their strategies and began to pursue just him. In the end, Paradigm won out -- and then hired Ellis Industries founder Andrew Ellis. "We now represent what was the entire client list of Ellis Industries without acquiring Ellis Industries," an insider tells me. "All parties are very happy." Galle and Ellis begin in Paradigm's NY offices Monday morning and bring with them their entire music rosters including My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Boys Like Girls, Alkaline Trio, Metro Station, Hellogoodbye, Circa Survive, Thrice, New Found Glory, and Say Anything.
Sought-After Music Agents Join Paradigm

wow – Ellis represents EVERY ONE of the shittiest bands in music today. And I mean EVERY ONE. What a list.
The absence of the challenging Avril Lavigne in this sizzling rundown is an egregious twit rock oversight.
Why buy the whole farm when you can get the cows at a discount?
Paradigm has the best publicist in the business. I am sure it was really APA, Abrams, and Silver Masetti that was after Ellis and in an effort to make Paradigm sound much more interesting and relevant that they really are in the community.
Paradigm is quickly building the hottest music list in the game. Whether you like these groups or not they are immensely popular.
Sam Gores has a huge commitment to the music side of things, no question – between Monterey, Little Big Man, and now Ellis, they have a decent roster. And whether you like these bands or not, they still sell. Smart move.
That being said, they still need to get their shit together on the TV/feature packaging side to compete with the big boys. The culture there between the agents is thin at best; everybody at Paradigm throws their weight in but the film/tv people. It’s a joke in LA, and the New York office had made shitty personnel decision after shitty personnel decision (losing agents, buying bad ones, firing them, buying more bad ones, not promoting, getting poached, etc).
