I'm told that actor Jason Bateman recently flew to NYC to do press for his upcoming film, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. "But Bateman refused to do the scheduled interviews for Conan and The View as those are struck shows. He wouldn't cross those picket lines," a source close to the actor explained. "Just wanted you to to know that though we have a no-strike clause in our SAG agreement, we CAN make some stands and SHOULD." That said, I can't help but wonder how the marketing and Oscar campaigns for movies coming up are going to be affected by so many talk shows going dark. Or the hosts' soon-to-be replacements.

Welcome to the party, Pal.
It’d be kind of weird to see actors doing movie promos from the picket line. I mean, the writers are looking for internet revenues (and they should get them!) but internet promotions? Probably not so wonderful by themselves.
That’s great about “The View”, but even if Bateman were to cross the picket lines for “Conan”, he’d find that, thanks to the strike, the show isn’t airing episodes these days.
We love you Michael Bluth!
You rock Bateman. Now lets see if Will Smith and Tom Hanks have those kind of stones when it comes time to sell their Christmas movies. I think all the posturing in the world by the studios will show some weakness when “I am Legend” start suffering in the pre release marketing. Get off the sidelines big time stars – those studio heads have a real hard time saying no to those top 10 power players – it’s time for them to get involved. Let’s end this thing soon but stay strong WGA, stay strong showrunners, stay united creative hollywood.
Or he could be refusing to promote the film because it looks like one of the dumbest movies ever made and he no longer wishes to be associated with it. Just a thought. It also may have the worst title of the year.
Wait… are you saying Conan is taping interviews while the show is in re-runs?
Someone should tell Ellen Degeneres! I can’t believe what a turncoat she is.
You rock, Jason!! Nikki… How about a story about all the people around town NBC have been begging to guest host The Tonight Show next week?
If Michael Bluth ain’t down with it, neither am I…
Thank you Jason!
You rock Jason Bateman!!!
Is Conan taping?
I thought Conan isn’t on anyway? Does that mean NBC really wanted to have both Tonight Show and Late Night back on next week?
I’m not surprised about Jason Bateman, his sister, Justine, has been out on the lines with us at CBS/Radford the whole week. Clearly, there’s a strong moral streak running through that family. No wonder they’re the only two child stars who never ended up in rehab.
I always liked you, you smirking son-of-a-gun!
Jason Bateman was also at the Fox rally on Friday. Seems like a really good guy.
Way to go Jason and sister.
What’s with all those mega-stars staying silent on the strike? I mean, Angelina Jolie, “best woman in the world,” dressing up for premieres and not saying a word about the strikers who helped get her where she is? These premieres are major press opportunities for stars to open their mouths. Charity begins at home.
i always did love that Hogan boy…
