Yada, yada, yada, we all know that Entourage's Ari Gold is based on Ari Emanuel. And that Emanuel's client Mark Wahlberg is the exec producer of the series which HBO recently picked up for a 6th season. Now life is imitating art because Endeavor has just signed Adrian Grenier, aka "Vince" who right now is cold as ice in Hollywood. But I gotta ask: does Adrian really have that big of a career ahead of him?

as soon as “Entourage” is off the air, he’s done. No one cares…
Yes, I think he does. He is quite charming and natural on film, and the documentary he directed was well done, and well received.
No. He doesn’t. He will make a MINT off of Entourage, and then sit on a pile of money (if he’s monetarily wise) for the rest of his life. All you need is one hit TV show and wait for the DVD money to come rolling in (which it has — big time — for Entourage).
He’s a completely average actor and that’s sort of the point of why he was cast as Vince on the show, at least thus far in the show and in my eyes in general.
However, he was GREAT in Jimmy Toback’s Harvard Man. The acid-trip scene is one of the best (if not THE best) movie trip-outs ever captured on celluloid. They got everything right during that 20 minute section. It was like he really was on acid. It was perfection.
Please amend the assertion “Ari Gold is based on Ari Emanuel”. It should be “Ari Gold is very, very loosely based on Ari Emanuel”.
That’s because Ari Gold seems that at his core, has some sense of decency and socially-redeeming qualities. I’ve never heard any acts of legitimate likability (the type that doesn’t involve charitable self promotion) about Ari Emanuel. Basically, the guy is among the most loathsome of pricks in Hollywood. And that’s saying much.
That’s an interesting story! I always said that the hardest part on Entourage is that of Vinnie Chase, because you have to believe to some extent that Adrien could be a big movie star in real life. Personally I don’t think so. Like his character, Im sure he has the potential to get a starring role in a film that has big main stream appeal, but I don’t see him as a movie star long term. He did a good job though in the supporting part of Anne Hataway’s boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada! He’s cetainly good enough on this show for me to despend my disbelief!

The man that starred opposite Melissa Joan Hart can barely get arrested in Hollywood. He doesn’t act nor knows how to act. All he he needs to do is look pretty and uninteresting on the show. He has by far the most boring character on Entourage and can barely act his way out of a paperbag. Good luck Endeavor–just what you need-a mediocre actor on a series you can’t comission.

No. See “The Devil Wears Prada” where the producers, obviously bent on ruining Entourage, made Vinny the sensitive housewife to Anne Hathaway (the show hasn’t really been the same since and I’m surprised this connection has never fully been explored). Underrated though is Grenier’s LSD scene in Harvard Man.

They kind of tried him out in Devil Wears Prada, and he functioned as a servicable actor. He never struck me as a leading man, and Entourage would be a sh** show if it was all about Vince. I watch for Drama and Turtle’s adventures. I’d personally like to see Kevin Dillon get more work.
He is the most uninteresting actor to me. He is the reason I’ve never been able to get into ENTOURAGE. Piven is great but then he out stars his “star” on the show. I don’t get the feeling that “Vince” is worth anything. And, he was the only weak link in DEVIL WEARS PRADA. You were supposed to feel her dilemma of choosing between her career or her “fantastic guy”. The only problem was that he was weak on screen and I kept thinking…”no brainer. leave him already.” Just another example of how sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason to why some people have a career and why other more deserving talents do not.

Of course everyone outshines Vince in Entourage. The show is, afterall, called “Entourage” and not “Vince” or “Movie Star.”
Anyway, I can’t really him see him having a Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp or Tom Cruise kind of career. Maybe an Ashton Kutcher shitty rom com career.
He’d be smart to take on some small, meaty supporting roles in film.
AG will do just fine. He’ll get supporting parts in features and will continue to work in television. I don’t know why people measure acting success as movie stardom. All of my fave actors (and actresses) are from television.
So maybe Endeavor is trying to package an Aquaman movie for real?
He’s just another pretty face who’ll disappear off the face of the earth once the show goes off the air. He may one day turn up on convenience store surveillance because of a robbery or on some God awful reality show. But he won’t have a film career that’s for sure. He’s tried that in the past and bombed every time and whatever talent he does have doesn’t show up onscreen.
Did anyone see The Adventures of Sebastian Cole? He was AMAZING in that. Kid has chops, just hasn’t been given enough to do in Entourage (or Prada for that matter).
Let’s see what the folks at Endeavor can bring to the table. Personally, I’d be happy to see Entourage season 25 grace my TV in the coming years as the show is both reflexive and creative in terms of its relationship with Hollywood.
No one would want to see a show strictly about E, Turtle, Ari, Drama or Vince. Vince ties them all together, provides a warm unity and allows them to shine as the various storylines and characters strut their stuff. But Adrian’s quiet charm and sensitivity can go beyond romcom fare if the right role came along.
Uh, no. Adrian is a likeable guy, but there’s no chance in hell he’ll be a movie star. He just ins’t a strong actor and he lacks that dynamic character that other bad actor “movie stars” possess.
And let’s face it, Entourage has seen better days. The episodes this season have sucked balls. Johnny Drama’s character has really fallen off and no one cares about Eric the midget’s burgeoning management career.
There isn’t anything that screams MOVIE STAR about Adrian, he’s very dull. It’s amazing he has even had success on TV.
Hey Crystal Diane Stevens…do you ever have anything positive to say, about anything? It seems like every comment I read from you is critical and negative. Surely, there must be some movie, tv show, actor, actress, director, or writer that you actually like. Otherwise…why would you visit a site about the business of Hollywood? have to be honest, don’t get the AG haters here. i can think of a dozen actors of his generation who are working and i just shake my head and wonder why.
the show is an ensemble, and AG contributes. does he have a future beyond HBO, of course. i have never heard him say he wants to do the classics.

Personally I thought anyone could fill the Vince role. When I saw him in ‘Prada, I kept thinking oh, this is Vinny Chase, that guy from Entourage. He suffers from what many TV actors suffer from, Typecasting. acting classes would help to. Entourage to me will always be Piven’s show. If he wasn’t on it, I wouldn’t watch.
I like him. He looks great with a beard.
As briefly mentioned above…if Ari/Endeavor was smart, they’d take their new client straight to Warner Bros, along with a big writer, and help them out with their “new mandate” of developing more DC properties and package AQUAMAN.
Seriously, it sounds like a joke, but if they could pull it off, everyone would win. The marketing for the movie has already partially been done by Entourage…it would be a brilliant move.

Interesting question. There’s something about Grenier that I find appealing, and no, not just his looks. Sure, he’s overshadowed by his scene-stealing co-stars but that’s hardly his fault – Ari, Drama, Billy Walsh, even Lloyd.
There are plenty of good-looking actors who leave me indifferent but someone with that ineffable “something” can overcome lack of stunning talent. And I really have no sense of his talent from Entourage – he hasn’t had much of a role so far that can really demonstrate range. I’m hoping that the upcoming season where Vince finally has to confront failure at long last will give us a better sense of Grenier’s talent by giving him a meaty role at long last.
He’s likable, can do light comedy, and women ADORE him. Why can’t he have a decent career? Plus, given the money he’s making off the show he can probably just do the projects that interest him from now on (like hosting Planet Green.) Plus, he was plenty likable in that documentary he did about his dad.
In a town full of real a-holes, Nikki, why pick on someone considered a nice guy?
What’s to like? Most stars are every bit as dull as him. It’s the brand-promoting vested interests who create, sustain and defend the interesting PR and marketing veneer.
Perceived professional charisma is directly related to the figures on their product and their continuing algebraic proximity to a history of success when being cast.
They are their context.
Can’t strategise charm though, or wit, which is why it’s so seldom seen.
He’s a rude little douche that was nasty to one super nice gal I know. So rude, in fact, his entourage cronies that were witness to his pricky behavior had to apologize for him. He and Endeavor deserve each other if you ask me.

The funny thing is the actors behind the scenes don’t really get along too much. They have huge demands and ego’s to boost and most of them don’t want to appear at ANY Entourage events together unless it is in their contract with HBO to show up. If they do decide to show up it is usually with a heavy cost or something ridiculous like “You have to pay Ferrara $15k to wear your sponsor’s shoes on the red carpet, plus $15k to show up for 20 mins minimum, plus free top shelf booze and gift bags for the star as well and his friends and assistants.

Adrian Grenier is actually the most down to earth one of the entire cast. Rex Lee probably being the second. I know Kevin D. wants nothing to do with Piven off screen…same thing with Connoly…a lot of bad blood…a lot of what you see on screen tension wise exists in real life off the screen.
As for Adrian’s career…he will have a good 10 year – 15 year run at best and it will be dominated by Entourage. HBO wants the show to run at least 10 years for syndication dollars ala The Sopranos. The key is whether or not they can keep them in check to do so. Piven has stated behind the scenes that he really doesn’t want to go past another 2 seasons…without him the show dies a fast and immediate death. Grenier is open for 2 more seasons to let the story play out and gives it a proper send off. At this rate HBO “hopes” to have Entourage on its line up for Sunday night’s until 2011.
Spot on with the “Vince” being the weakest link on the show (followed by E). He is extremely uninteresting to watch but the show itself gets past that in a big way. Was discussing how the cast probably doesn’t get along in real life; nice to have that “confirmed”. Adrian will not have a career in the exact same way that any actor attached so heavily to their “character” on a show does. See the “Friends” cast.
So when is someone going to make the real Medellin? It could be the modern day Scarface.
Personally I find Kevin Connelly to be the weakest or maybe just least believable character in the show.
