3RD UPDATE: Endeavor has signed Jessica Lange and William Hurt, both from CAA. (Variety thinks Anthony Hopkins is a new sign when I reported that back in November...) In turn, CAA has signed director David O Russell away from Endeavor after he was there a long time. Other recent CAA signs I haven't reported include Private Practice's Kate Walsh from UTA and John Leguizamo from WMA. Plus some significant emerging stars, in competitive situations, like actresses Gemma Ward and Billie Piper. Jack Carpenter, who has the lead in upcoming feature I Love You, Beth Cooper. In TV, CAA signed producer/director Tommy Schlamme and showrunner Todd Kessler, both away from Endeavor. Also CAA signed film and TV producer Mike Tollin away from UTA. Meg Ryan is leaving CAA and taking agency meetings. Director John Dahl left Endeavor for UTA, which also just signed emerging star Anna Camp. Slumdog Millionaire's stars are in hot demand: CAA has signed Freida Pinto, and UTA has signed Dev Patel. UTA also signed emerging star Adam Sevani. ICM recently signed actor Taye Diggs away from Endeavor, Academy Award-nominated writer and playwright Jose Rivera, and UK writer/director/actor Noel Clarke. In terms of emerging stars, ICM signed Moon Bloodgood, who co-stars in Terminator: Salvation, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta, the Spanish lead of Love Ranch. Endeavor took Amanda Byrnes from WMA, and William Morris signed One Tree Hill's actor Chad Michael Murray who's also directing. Paradigm has signed Adrien Brody, Damon Wayans, and Lena Olin, plus emerging stars actor/singer Jesse McCartney, Lucas Grabeel, and Allyson Stoner, and directors Kevin Rodney Sullivan and France's Xavier Gens. And APA signed Clive Barker and his company away from ICM.
Finally, I was on personal leave when Endeavor's longtime in-house flack Michael Donkis announced his new independent PR agency with PMK/HBH publicist Joy Fehily, who as I previously reported left in December after 13 years taking clients McG, Seth McFarland, Joel Silver, and other good names with her.
Donkis always told me he'd be a lifer with Ari Emanuel, and indeed Endeavor is one of the flackery's clients. (Donkis has been approached over the years by several studios including Paramount, and NY-based PR firms like Rubenstein, but always turned down the many offers.) Fehily and Donkis have a long-standing personal and professional relationship: they've collaborated on a number of Endeavor-repped clients over the years including Aaron Sorkin, McG, Seth MacFarlane and Silvio Horta. For example, at a party last fall, Fehily introduced Donkis to House actress Olivia Wilde, also repped by Endeavor. Wilde discussed her passion for building medical clinics in Gambia and before the night was over, Donkis, Fehily and Wilde set a plan to bring petroleum giant BP into the mix to provide solar panels to power the clinics. Donkis and Fehily plan to provide pro bono PR services to a different LA-based non-profit each year. Their new company, called Prime, will be based in Culver City. I wish them well in this tough economic climate.

What a blow for Paradigm’s head of talent Andrew Rogers to lose Moon Bloodgood, who was a longtime client. Other than Michael Cera, whom one must assume is being courted daily by the Big 5, who does he have left?
Who would bother signing Meg Ryan and her freaky face? Her days of being a movie star are well behind her.
Does CAA losing clients ever really effect them? It seems like it’s more give-n-take on that as opposed to other agencies (ie. ICM, WMA, Par) where it matters more who they sign. A little surprised about the Jesse M. move considering he seemed locked at UTA – his mom must’ve had something to do with that…
Donkis is a good guy and the pairing is a smart move. Both pros, and hope they succeed mightily.
Moon was only on Andrew Rogers B list. His A list is doing just fine.
Adrien Brody signed with Paradigm?! Did I read that correctly?
Moon is very talented and on no ones B list and for some one to say that is petty and stupid and most likely works for Rogers.
very surprised of the jesse m. move – he was at caa for music and uta for acting, now apparently at paradigm for both. adrien brody at paradigm ya very surprising, but if you think about it he hasn’t been getting any big roles. much like cuba gooding jr his stardom after his oscar win has very much faded.
Many of those folks are angry disgruntled clients. Moon, CMM, Schlamme were well-repped but constantly angry. There is nothing an agent can do to make Moon Bloodgood a leading lady, or CMM a movie star, or Schlamme a winner outside of his Sorkin collaborations. Let them shuffle it up and see that it’s the same on the other side.
Other observations:
- older actors are shifting
- difficult directors are shifting
- writers who haven’t made it are shifting
Shocker. Someone should buy all these people mirrors.
On the Moon Situation Maybe you should know all the Facts
And as much as I dont Like Rogers, He did nothing wrong
Regarding Andrew Rogers’ handling of Moon Bloodgood, let’s look at the facts.
To put things in perspective, flashback to 2006 when a then-unknown Moon was in EIGHT BELOW, a film which grossed over $120M worldwide and which starred three entities: Paul Walker, Moon and the dogs. While credit for the film’s success was widely-attributed to the dogs, it gave Moon “heat” in the industry casting community. It was at this point that she should have launched.
Since that time, she went on to a very short-lived series called DAYBREAK, for which all the advertising focused on Taye Diggs. So after it was cancelled, she had nothing to show for it.
Then she moved on to another very short-lived series called JOURNEYMAN, for which Kevin McKidd got all the press. So after it was cancelled, Moon again had nothing to show for it.
Then she did a small movie called WHAT JUST HAPPENED which was billed as a “Robert DeNiro film” and no one saw it.
Then she did a flop called PATHFINDER which no one saw.
And she’s got STREETFIGHTER (in which she’s billed below Kristin Kreuk?!) coming out as well as TERMINATOR, which will be huge, but she’s like the 6th lead, and therefore will get zero credit for its success.
Some might say, “hey, at least she was working.” Others might say that any heat she had has been lost and they will point to all of the young female actresses who have “popped” since 2006 – Megan Fox, Evan Rachel Wood, Emily Blunt, Ellen Page, Miley Cyrus, etc – and say, “what a wasted opportunity, what bad agent’ing by Andrew Rogers.”
So…to Another Real Agent I say…those are the facts as I see them. If you’ve got any to add, please feel free.
Oh please
She’s eye candy. She’s not an actress. Seriously.
She should be the coroner in CSI: Albuquerque
No loss for Paradigm. She’ll be the 2nd lead in the same crappy pilots at ICM
IT’S MOON BLOODGOOD PEOPLE!
I’m sure all of the kids that lined up to SNOW DOGS wanted to see Moon, just like everyone who lined up to see JURASSIC PARK wanted to catch a glimpse of Sam Neil. And the heat she got off of SNOW DOGS was ruined when she went to go audition for something that required her to act opposite humans and exposed her as a 40 year old talentless hack who has the emotional acting range of a carrot. It’s a miracle she got the 2nd, not 6th lead, in TERMINATOR SALVATION!
But I am sure she will have the glamorous breakout career that was rewarded to Kristanna Loken from TERMINATOR 3.
There is always pilot season. Oh wait, she can’t act..nevermind.
“…just like everyone who lined up to see JURASSIC PARK wanted to catch a glimpse of Sam Neil.”
I always thought people went to see JP for Wayne Knight.
Was that just me?
