UPDATE: These fresh stats are astounding. Summit Entertainment has a count of 4.2 million views for the New Moon trailer from MySpace, and another 1.6 million from MTV.com, so that's 5.8 million conbined views in the first 24 hours from its two domestic online launch partners. By comparison, the 3rd (and last) trailer for Twilight received 3.2 million views in its first 48 hours on MySpace, piddling compared to viewership for the sequel's trailer. This is what's causing the traffic jam:

that’s because those crazed Twilight fangirls have watched the trailer at least 30+ times…
Is it Nov 20th yet? Midnight show + million times thereafter. And no. I’m not a teen. I love Rob! He’s in NYC now in preparation to shoot Remember Me this summer, then Eclipse, followed by Unbound Captives then Bel Ami. News today reports he may play a hip, counterculture NYC gangster. Rob’s choices are amazing. I can’t wait to see all of these movies beginning with Remember Me on Feb 12th, Valentine’s Day weekend. Woohoo!!!
Hopefully after the dust settle from all of this, Lautner will emerge as the real star. He seems like a decent kid, and just look at the body transformation he underwent for this sequel in not too much time. Credit his rep for fighting to keep him in the sequel when studio brass wanted him replaced.
Kinda lame.
I wish them all the best. It’s a fun series, well-made, and I’m all about anything that will get people to read books.
i read the books just because i kept hearing women older than me raving about it (i’m in my mid-20s) and i wasn’t very impressed. actually, i was pretty pissed at myself for wasting my time on a woman who writes at a non-honors high school level. plus the movie version of twilight was horrendous (i watched the cam version online but the lack of talent in the editing and acting departments were unmistakable). can’t believe i’m saying this but i might have to go see this installment in the theater.
“Lautner as the real star.”
Really?? He’s a cute kid and obviously he has a great work ethic. He also LOVES the spotlight. But I’m sorry, I don’t think Taylor has a chance in hell of ever emerging as a huge star in the same way that is happening with Pattinson right now. I think that’s unlikely to happen with ANYONE anytime soon, honestly. People are drawn to Rob for many reasons, top of which I think is the fact that he’s not your run-of-the-mill, plastiscized, media-trained, Disney-fied robot. Just look at the interesting roles he’s choosing. Watch a few of his interviews. This man is different and refreshing and he’s got a good career ahead of him if he can follow through on this promise he has around him right now. There are a lot of people in Hollywood who believe he can. He also has a huge cross-over demographic of grown women (and even men) who are now following his career. I’m not saying Lautner couldn’t become a star…he vey well could. But as long as he’s in these Twilight movies, any star Lautner has will most likely be eclipsed by Rob’s. Uh, no punn intended! Bottom line, you’ve got a cute kid vs. charismatic man issue and I say the charismatic man wins everytime. Pattinson’s the “real” star and he’s already emerged.
Re: Kimberly
I definitely don’t disagree with you. I have nothing against Rob… from the trailer i’ve seen of the Dali flick he did he actually has some chops. I would just really like to see Lautner get more interesting work after this. Rob’s been able to make interesting choices because he’s been offered them. Lautner hasn’t had his chance to shine yet. This film will showcase a LOT more of Lautner so we’ll be able to see what he’s got. If he’s as good as I think he can be, I sincerely hope he gets some interesting offers as well.
I think Taylor seems like a sweet kid and Summit is clearly trying to make him equally as big as Rob with this, but that seems unlikely at this point. Plus Summit seems to be meddling in his personal life and causing distress, have you read Laineygossip’s report on Taylor’s relationship woes? Rob doesn’t even have a personality and for some reason people are obsessed with him, I have no idea what he has but it’s something…
worst looking CGI wolf i’ve ever seen.
wow…. this one doesn’t seem as crappy as the first one
Wow, I am amazed that you think Rob has no personality. Every interview he has done has been chock full of personality. Every interview has at least one hilarious soundbite of some sort. He has more personality in his little finger than most of today’s stars have. The man can act, play guitar and piano, write songs and sing them. Most importantly, he is smart and funny. The sex appeal is just the icing on the cake.
im going to be honest. im proud to not be part of that statistic.
…vampires DON’T sparkle.
Why does mediocrity always win out? I’m sorry, but those kids, Can Not Act. I agree with anonymous, the story is lame, and I agree they have no personality except angst.

I get it.
Eh. The werewolf looked terrible.
House of Night is much cooler.
I’ve watched it myself more than 20 times since it aired, analyzing every detail! WOO-HOO!
Poor Robert Pattison still needs some fiber in his diet.

Even their angst is lame.
I LOVE THE NEW TRAILER ! I love how there are so many people who hate on Twilight and talk negative about it all the time. I’m not a Twilight fan but the CGI on teh wolf looks cool to me.
JUST LET THE TWILIGHT FANS ENJOY what they love. I’ll be going to see the movie.
PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HATE BUT IT sure has a huge fanbase that doesn’t give a shit about we or you think.
There still going to make money and well instead of people hating how about concentrating on things we love.
This got 5.8 million views? What a fucking waste of time. An awful trailer for what is sure to be an awful movie.
Watch “Let the Right One In” instead. It’s an infinitely superior movie.
omg omg omg omg omg omg..
i so want this on my ipod!!!!! hahah
<3 im in love.. i want this movie so bad its not funny at all…. its the only thing i can think about,, i have read all the books and am craving for more!!!!
Lautner’s a ghastly cocky kid. He grates on most people as soon as he opens his mouth. Humble he aint.
Pattinson is the real draw on this franchise and always will be.
Pattinson has some interesting work lined up. The original script for Remember Me was good but I hear its even better now. Bel Ami also looks excellent (very good feedback on the script) and Pattinson is lucky as hell to be working with Declan Donnellan. A very talented director to coach an excellent performance out of Pattinson. The role of Georges Duroy in Bel Ami is a really meaty one for him. The role of the white indian in Unbound Captives will certainly be testing. While the script needs some editing Pattinson’s role is very well written – a scene stealing one infact if he can pull it off. He certainly knows how to pick a good project (beyond Twilight).
Only a seriously deluded person (or his parents/management)would think Lautner will be the real star from this franchise.
Whether people like the movie’s or not,New Moon will financially, be a record-breaker.
It is going to make more money than any other movie this year. EASILY.

Seriously?
This has to be a joke, right?
Was thinking that Thriving Ivory could provide great soundtrack music for one of the Twilight films. How do you make that suggestion and to whom? I can’t find a comment tab or a blog for Summit Entertainment.
I don’t think we’ve really seen enough of Taylor to make strong judgments about him. Hopefully we’ll get a little taste of what he can do with this movie. I suppose decisions could be made based off of Shark Boy and Lava Girl, but he was so young I don’t think it should count. I’m also confused as to why people think he’s cocky? I’ve read comments that have said this and I disagree. I think he’s still fairly “young,” EXICTED, and energetic but not cocky. If people consider Kristen to be more of a nervous person, Taylor could be considered someone pulsing with energy. I’m 17 and I know I’d make lots of mistakes and perhaps I’d rub people the wrong way, but it wouldn’t be my intention. I’d just be so thrilled that I couldn’t think straight (this is not to say Taylor does not think straight haha on the contrary I think he’s one of the better interviewers). He is always quick to thank the fans (something some of the other actors seem to need to remind themselves to do) which I think is very important. As many people have stated the first movie was decent/so-so to not good. I feel like it did well because people loved the books and wanted to see the movie succeed. I also think many people became enamored with the actors playing the characters and wanted to show their support. Even after seeing it once and deciding it was only okay, I feel like many fans kept seeing it with the hopes that if Twilight made money the second one would be better. I’d say that, from what is shown on this trailer, New Moon will be a step up. In terms of the books, I liked them. However, I was not paying much attention to grammar or writing style I just lost myself to the story so I cannot add to the discussion on Ms. Meyer’s. I believe I was searching for an escape from my everyday life and I felt that I found it in the little town of Forks and the human and fantastical characters that dwelled there. It was just for fun. Anyway that’s my take =) (sorry if this is posted twice I wasn’t sure if it worked the first time).
I am surprised at the many negative comments about this series. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. It is a story many readers have felt a connection to. What’s wrong with that? Most of us became fans of the actual books before even watching the first movie. To revisit scenes from our favorite books on the big screen is fun. I am even more surprised that the people leaving the negative comments took time out of their lives to comment on the Twilight series. If you have something better to do, then do it! The Twilight series is a waste of your time – remember? No-one is telling you to go watch the movies, read the books, buy posters or click on the links (but you clicked anyways). Seems simple to me……..
As for the rest of us – I can’t wait for NEW MOON!! ; )
love the novels & thank stephenie for writing something so near & dear to peoples’ hearts. know new moon will be better than twilight & like many others, addicted & obsessed to the twisaga. pattinson & stewart are already on their way to a bright future.
I don’t understand why people that are not fans of this series even waste their time reading these posts; let alone commenting on them. Let the rest of us have our fun without crapping all over it just so you can vent. Get a hobby for Pete’s sake. Thank you Stephenie Meyer for giving people of many ages an outlet…
robert pattinson is NOT a good actor. but i guess that’s never stopped brad pitt.
chicks are just swooning over the british accent. didn’t help hugh grant. and brits age v. v. badly.
This movie will probably have haters. Get over it ppl!! It’s not like everyone has to like or not like it. Ppl have their own opinions… That’s what separates us from robots.
to my peeps in hollywood:
1.) what agent signed these kids up for 3 movies (new moon, eclipse, breaking dawn) without seeing the scripts first? yeah the source material was already weak. but don’t you get a bigger payout by waiting for the first weekend numbers?
2.) why have kristen stewart and robert pattinson voluntarily typecast themselves. taylor lautner can’t help it because well, he’s got no choice.
yeah, these actors are shooting projects in between these other twilight films. but that will merely lead to overexposure of joe pesci proportion.
3.) if taylor lautner is sort of helping to carry the second film, why aren’t his agents all over finding him at least 1 new post-twilight saga project? waiting for ‘new moon’ to break big? well, opening day will be huge and it will go the way of ‘bruno’ once the tweens take a look at their new boy CGI movie with a weak romance plot.
4.) why is summit trying to fight stephenie meyer’s demo? no boy will see this film series no matter how much CGI is embedded into it. and no teenage girl will drag her boyfriend to see this film because she wants to spend the whole time swooning over edward cullen (notice, i did not say robert pattinson).
play to the demo or you will witness catastrophe.
5.) summit thinks it’s got a ’star trek’ on it’s hands not a ‘harry potter.’ and it would appear so do the actors. but the star trek conventions only started about 20 years after the series ended. 5 years from now robert pattinson will be writing the book ‘i am not edward cullen,’ echoing leonard nimoy’s first foray into writing.
6.) robert pattinson is horribly overexposed.
7.) a.)hollywood is suffering a talent crisis. there are only 2 male actors under the age of 35 who have star quality and could potentially open a film. shia and pattinson.
keanu reeves is about to cross the 45 year old line and johnny depp and tom cruise are pushing 50 dudes.
BUT we don’t know if shia can really open a film. because ‘transformers’ is it’s own thing. and we don’t know if pattinson can open a film at all.
tom cruise is (or rather WAS) the last big movie star. and there are no men up that pipeline to replace him. his initial films were well chosen to fit his limited acting range (top gun/tom cruise in a jet, cocktail/tom cruise in a bar, jerry macguire/tom cruise sports flick).
pattinson could be the next tom cruise, but these 2 indies that have come out this year haven’t really helped him. and his next round of projects will only showcase his limited acting range, not protect this, his great weakness. and who would sign on to acting in the directing debut of madeleine stowe??? the blandest actress on the planet?
pattinson runs the risk of going the way of brad pitt. pretty boy in an endless string of bad movies just collecting paychecks(’meet joe black’, ’seven years in tibet,’ ‘the assasination of jesse james…’ and so on) who needs women to salvage his career (juliette lewis, gwyneth paltrow, jennifer aniston, angelina jolie).
7.) b.)where are the reliable stars who could consistently open films? think back to the 80s and 90s? or is this chapter shut?
or are actors so resistant to becoming reliable brands now by doing loads of bad films strung between one or two films that people may actually want to see.
because (sorry to say) in the end, it’s about product, not art.
8.) brits can’t open films. sorry. it’s all out there for people to see. girls love the accents. but well, the bond movies sell themselves (as we can see that daniel craig easily replaced brosnan). case in point:
jude law, hugh grant, christian bale, ewan macgregor, hugh dancy, shall i continue? the batman films are all about finding the right director. schwarzenegger would’ve saved ‘terminator 4.’
9.) and it’s only in hollywood that a studio would take a film made by a woman for $35M that made almost $400M worldwide and replace her with a man who made a film for $180M that grossed merels $70M (the golden compass). is hardwicke really a difficult person? well i have 2 words for you, MICHAEL BAY.
from the trailer you can see that the whole look and feel of the film has changed. this film has warm colors. the other was like a gothic fairy tale. a look that has spawned an endless series of twilight parties. but i guess summit has thrown out the baby with the bathwater.
Hey knows anybody the name of the background music?
It’s just a score but it goes so good with the dramatic art of the scene/trailer
@peeps
you’re a pretentious idiot. using letters ‘a’ and ‘b’ in your examples? it makes you look more like a dumbass than what you were going for. meanwhile, your whole theory on tom cruise and his limited acting range in his initial films makes as much sense as your entire post…which is none. ‘jerry maguire’ was made 15 years after his career began. and have you ever seen ‘born on the 4th of july’ or ‘rain man’? try thinking before you ramble on and try to seem smart
The movie looks really good. I cant wait to see it. I’m a big fan and think Robert and Taylor are good actors. (:
To all the non-twilighters:
Get a life. If you dont like it why comment on it? And everyone on the cast has talent, they obviously wouldnt be on the movie if they didnt. Let fans be happy and enjoy the Saga. Seriously, you have nothing better to do than go on some website, watch a trailer you dont like. than crap about it online?
