What’s so sad? It’s a just a movie just like any other movie. Movies aren’t some great piece of art, they are a just product, produced and sold, much like a car, Ipod, a book, the only difference is Summit Entertainment won the Mega lottery many times over on this one.
Not even a good film. (Although the middle Star Wars, Rings and Indiana Jones and two of the Potter films were not world-class like their brothers and sisters, either.)
Well, women of all ages finally have their tentpole series. I’m happy for them.

Well, girls of all ages and genders, and their boyfriends..

Just a sad state of affairs to wait X # of days to see a film that will still be out there by the time Christmas rolls around. Shameful!
Or, you know, a very political tool for social indoctrination with a main character who is not a character at all but rather a cipher through which the young girls want to live.
It’s all good, clean fun…except that it teaches so truly horrible morals.
I’m happy that SOMETHING is catching on at the box office. I’d rather see Twilight movies generate this kind of response than to see the movie industry go the way of the music industry. That would/will suck, big time.
Wouldn’t this be considerably more interesting if the source material weren’t anti-strong-woman, repressive, penny dreadful treacle?
Anybody remember ‘The Hunger’, with Deneuve/Bowie, back when vampires looked cool as hell, had actual sex, drank lots of blood and had a good time doing it?
Excellent. The power of movies bringing people together. I hope everyone had a great time, maybe made some new friends and was sufficiently entertained.
Don’t make too big of a deal out of it, folks. There’s a lot of worse things in the world than people going to see a movie.
hurry for the TWIHARDS AND TWILIGHT.
YOU BROUGHT IN THE $$ NUMBERS.
TO : Studio Execs. wake up and start making movies that WOMEN AND GIRLS WANT TO SEE. Start by hiring more female execs and writers and GET RID OF THOSE METROSEXUAL WOMEN HATING loosers you guys have on staff that say that making MOVIES FOR WOMEN IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME AND INVESTMENT.
CHECK OUT THE NEW MARKETING DATA ABOUT WOMEN !
WAKE UP or suck it!
They already know this. It’s been proven time and again not just with Twilight. Everybody knows teen girls made Titanic what it was; this goes way back. So it’s not that metrosexual male studio execs don’t ever see this marketing data it’s that they deny it. Exactly because it would mean hiring more female executives, female directors, female writers and producers. It panics them and perhaps even repulses them.
Just because trekkies don’t get into the same frenzy as that of the twihards does not mean they’re any less loyal. Slightly more grounded in reality, perhaps. And that’s saying something.
I don’t know which movie theater line is more predictable: the line for a “Twilight” movie (mostly teen and tween girls); or the line for a Metropolitan Opera Live in HD moviecast (almost exclusively senior citizens)…..

Personally, I hate the books, hated the first movie, but a friend of mine went to the midnight screening of “New Moon” in her small town and said the fans, although numerous, were friendly, excited, and polite, and even though she was only there to escort her niece, she still had a blast.
This is a way for fans to connect, and although it’s not my bag, I’ve given up trying to disrespect it and just let the fangirls have their day.
People who think this is “sad” or calling them names are sooooooo stupid…you cry because business is slow, but cry when there is commercial product that entertains people. Unless you have an Oscar on your desk, stfu! There is finally an exciting movie phenomenon… And you’re still not happy… Oh if these kids would just turn out in the tens of millions to see crash or milk… Gimme a break!
I would maintain that neither Crash nor Milk was a very good movie. Now, if these kids would show up in droves for a rerelease of THE HOLY MOUNTAIN…then we might be on to something.
I am SO glad my daughter is only 18 months old, and this crap will be long forgotten and the O-NEG hopefully turned into guitar picks by the time she’s a teenager. I will teach her that NO movie and NO actor is worth sleeping on a dirty floor for…

“Movies aren’t some great piece of art, they are a just product, produced and sold”
I must say, that’s a pretty depresseing way of looking at a medium that has brought us ‘products’ like The Godfather, Casablanca, Seven Samurai, La Dolce Vita, Some Like it Hot and Schindler’s List. To name but a few.
Having said that, I think you’re actually on the right track concerning this whole Twilight-’saga’. New Moon is not a film, it IS a product. A marketing concept aimed at separating adolescent girls from their hard-earned babysitting money. And they’re playing this game to perfection. As long as they’ve got strapping young lads walking around all bare-chested and hunky, who needs story, character-development or even half-decent filmmaking?
I mean, come on, everybody knows the books are crap. The films are crap. This sh*t ain’t gonna last. In twenty years time, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings will still be celebrated, and Twilight will deservedly stand on a dusty shelf next to Roller Shoes, mood rings, Vanilla Ice and the Macarena.
C’MON – YOU GOTTA LOVE THESE PHOTOS!! JUST THINK – with the hundreds of millions of Dollars Summit Entertainment is going to make off this movie – just think they’ll increase the amount of films they’ll be making this year & next year and the year after that! THAT’S WORK, YOU MORONS. THAT’S MORE JOBS – MONEY TO KEEP OUR HOMES, PAY OUR BILLS, GET OUR KIDS THROUGH SCHOOL.
All you jerks who dislike this movie – fine – but you should admit that it’s a great bonus for the industry, the workforce of Hollywood.
This illustrates just to what degree Hollywood, MTV and the likes of VH1 have influenced our youth into a twisted immoral mindset of poor choices and poor priorities. I have two daughters from Thailand, both straight ‘A’ students, respectful, helpful, kind, thoughtful ……and motivated toward any and all things not advanced by the Hollywood leftist stranglehold on our youth. Hold your response to my comment until you raise your own children to the age of 21….then you can comment.

Oh my gosh, this is no different than anything else made for teens over the last several decades. When I look at these photos I see bright happy faces of girls using this movie as a way to bond with other girls and go out and have fun. Your perception of these girls is way more dark and creepy than the movie could ever be. I don’t need to raise a child to age 21 to respond, because I WAS a teen girl who enjoyed the horror genre and alternative culture and music. I am well educated, have a wonderful husband and child, a great life and do very well, thank you very much.

wemadeamistake, what is your issue ? The movie was a smash hit which in turn is good for the the film business which in turn is good for the economy.
I completely dont understand all the Hype for this movie and books.
I havent read any of books. But have seen Twilight movie. It was very average in every way to me. Like watching single episode from some US created series.
I am very surprised and struggling to understand why this became such a phenomenon.
But watching this photos i cannot deny and not to admire such a passion for something. This film really connecting those girls together. (im even jealous a bit)
haha
Anyway. Who am I to judge YOU!
if You enjoy Twilight. well… that is Your buisness Your Life!
But please dont go completely crazy and delusional with this(or anything in your life). Any of You can have your own Edward or Jacob.
Good Luck and ignore the Haters
I don’t see the big deal with this. And I love how all of these people who think they are so bright don’t even know how to put a proper sentance together. I went to New Moon 3 times. I own Twilight. I own all four books… Soo what is the harm? It is not your money the “obese suburbanite prepubescent white girls” are spening? Not everyone enjoys the same movies. Name a product that is NOT aimed at a specific age group. So PLEASE think before you speak badly about these girls.
Twilight = # 100 – Stuff white people like
You are offensive and ignorant…
Actually, I thought that was kind of funny…
As a white person, I’m offended you think I like this swill.
this is sad
What’s so sad? It’s a just a movie just like any other movie. Movies aren’t some great piece of art, they are a just product, produced and sold, much like a car, Ipod, a book, the only difference is Summit Entertainment won the Mega lottery many times over on this one.
do you know what a philistine is? if not, look it up.
a movie is not a commodity!
Movies are an art. Anyone who doesn’t understand that is delusional.
Twilight = Star Trek for girls.
very very sad
To Josh, you are out of touch. Where I live, there were a lot of Hispanics that liked it too.
FANGIRLS are more fanatical and loyal then FANBOYS.
This Is Madnesssssssss !!!!!!!!!!!!
No. This. Is. NEW MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ second two commentators
If that’s how you really feel, then the crowds in those photos are right to ignore you.
Not even a good film. (Although the middle Star Wars, Rings and Indiana Jones and two of the Potter films were not world-class like their brothers and sisters, either.)

Love this!! Way to go New Moon fans!!
Folks wish their movies made half that it’s entire run, let alone 1st weekend…..
Good for those who know how to have a great time and live their life. It’s much too short for all this hater nonsense……
Great to see a bunch of kids having fun! They take it for what it is: entertainment.
Or, you know, a very political tool for social indoctrination with a main character who is not a character at all but rather a cipher through which the young girls want to live.

Wow….you need some fiber in your life, sweetpea….

Yes. It didn’t do shit at the box office. Next!

Check the frenzy in a movie theatre in Brazil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-flms-ID94
This scene is way more scarier than the whole “Paranormal Activity” flick…
Glad I didn’t go cruise the lines for hot chicks.
I’d rather camp out for Cedric Diggory than Edward Cullen. Just sayin’.
LOL at Josh’s comment. So true.
Wowsa. Why don’t they just wait a couple of days and then go see it?
hurry for the TWIHARDS AND TWILIGHT.

GG, if you start making movies only for girls than the only actors that would ever get cast are male model types.
They already know this. It’s been proven time and again not just with Twilight. Everybody knows teen girls made Titanic what it was; this goes way back. (bad movie, bad book *sigh*)
What a bunch of skanks. I see fangirls are just as losers as fanboys.
A lot of really big fans.

This feels (and looks like) the boy band craze of the ’90s, and will probably have the same longevity or long term meaning.

Hunter D, you are entitled to your opinion but both Crash and Milk were Oscar calbier films and are widely considered great films.
