ABC 2008-2009 PRIMETIME SCHEDULE, For The Record
![]()
As I reported earlier, ABC had strong comedy development this time around. And the fact is that most of ABC's new stuff will need to go midseason because not only have few pilots yet been shot, but most are still only in the casting stage. As a result, this is a much safer and less costly schedule than last fall's, when there were new scripted series galore. This time around, some of those fall and mid-season shows are being given a second chance to find an audience.

Did they not find room for ‘Lost’ on ABC? If this was just the fall schedule then I wouldn’t expect to see it, but this is 08/09.
Lost is going to be back mid-season ala this current season. That’s the new plan for Lost. Debut not in the fall but in mid-season and then run non-stop new episodes till the finale. That would’ve happened this season but due to the strike and all, that didn’t happen.
Lost will be back in January 2009 in a unknown timeslot. When do we expect to here about more of there new shows going to air in midseason? Over the Summer?
Eli Stone is never going to be a hit. ABC only renewed it to keep happy Greg Berlanti, who turned Brothers & Sisters into a hit (with or without Jon Robin Baitz) and kept Dirty Sexy Money alive for the network. Women’s Murder Club was a much more commercial and fix-able series than Eli Stone, but ABC was probably fed up trying to deal with insane James Patterson.
What happened to Captain Cook’s Extraordinary Atlas?
Nikki, what about Good Behavior, which was one of the 3 Rob Thomas pilots that were commissioned (a remake of a New Zealand series called Outrageous Fortune)? At one point, there were stories that Kristen Bell was being recruited for one of the lead roles?
Thanks.
Hmm…guess I can ignore ABC altogether this season. What a stinker!
Why was Big Shots so unappreciated? I honestly think it could have made it had it been given more publicity…
why did they renew According to Jim for midseason?
I’m sort of sickened by Life on Mars being picked up. There is absolutely no way a remake could do justice to the original.
Ah, well. At least Spaced didn’t get picked up.
I will watch only Private Practice, because Tim Daly is in it. Although I wish that he was on better show. It’s a waste of incredibly talented actor. Sigh.
Now we get to see whether ABC can do a better job promoting Scrubs than NBC did since they actually own it.
