UPDATES Elisabeth Declined Dad's Request To Rejoin News Corp
Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine enjoyed a profits jump after its purchase of Ben Silverman's former production company. Her indieprod gained £115M in revenue over last year directly coming from Reveille. It also had an operating profit before amortization of £24.5M, according to The Guardian citing documents due to be filed with Companies House yesterday. The firm said its business had been "transformed" by the deal in February 2008 to buy Reveille, which makes the U.S. versions of Ugly Betty and The Office. Shine also said its UK business was "going from strength to strength" with shows such as MasterChef, Merlin, and Spooks. Altogether, it said it had produced more than 1,000 hours of programming in the last year for broadcasters such as the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, NBC, ABC and MTV, while it also set up sales and distribution arm Shine International. "2008 has been a year of unprecedented change for the Group with substantial growth both organically and through acquisition," the firm said. This year has also started positively for Shine with the acquisition of Metronome Film and Television, the Nordic region's biggest production group, in a deal worth nearly £60M as well as launching start-ups in France, Germany and Australia. No wonder Elisabeth doesn't want to rejoin her Dad's News Corp board of directors -- word is her husband Matthew Freud also advises her to stay clear of it -- since it would hamper Shine's ability to, well, shine. I've always called her the smartest Murdoch scion.

Smart, rich and at least in this picture, hot… When does she take over Fox?
Right after Shine gets so big, it buys Fox.
I bet that pashmina cost more than my car.
Shine was a relatively small company, how it afford £60m acquisitions can only be down to the billionaire heiress owner and her millionaire husband. Anyone could have a company with revenues like that with endless money to buy other companies.
