There's now official confirmation. I'm told tonight that, in today's latest round of layoffs and firings at the Los Angeles Times, the newspaper has shown the door to Chuck Phillips, the paper's most controversial writer. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his investigative journalism about a scandal in the music inustry, but then he became the scandal for wrongly linking Sean "Diddy" Combs to the shooting of Tupak Shakur. Most recently, Phillips came under criticism for what is alleged to have been his professional and personal relationship with convicted Hollywood P.I. Anthony Pellicano and biased reporting on the Pellicano scandal.
