UPDATES 'Southland' Set For Pick Up By TNT -- If NBC Doesn't Screw It Up
UPDATES Wells Looking For New 'Southland' Home
UPDATES Wasn't NBC Boasting About 'Southland'?
People working on the show were told to prepare for good news on November 2nd. And they got it. One minute NBC was boasting about this sophomore cop show. The next the network was dumping it. And then NBC wouldn't let it go to TNT. For weeks now, TNT and NBC were negotiating moolah terms. "This behavior from NBC has been unbelievable and amazingly fucked-up -- even for them -- which is really saying something..." Anyway, that's all over. Barry Meyer did a solid for John Wells so TNT has the exclusive rights to run the 6 unaired episodes of Southland as well as all 13 produced episodes starting January 12th. TNT still has to decide whether to continue the series.

Nikki,
Are you surprised anymore at how NBC is negotiating with others and having to deal with those idiots on an everyday basis? maybe it’s wise for Comcast to take NBC to cable, once they get a hold of that network, fire most everyone there in upper management includingn ass-clown Zucker and try somehow to improve that failing network. Leno doesn’t seemed phased by his bad ratings…what morale there!
Somebody paid for a bill of goods.
NBC is peering through the slit, buyer beware.
Woo-hoo!!!! Thank you TNT! Southland is gonna be even more awesome now that it can fully flex its muscles on a cable network.
Well, TNT needs another cop-centric show and NBC was all-too-happy to get rid of it. If it performs well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it replacing “Saving Grace” once that show’s final season airs next spring.
Let’s just hope TNT invests in more episodes.
SO NBC gets to get a little back on their investment on a crap show that nobody watched. As for TNT, unless it gets better ratings, they will canned it faster than NBC did.
Um, what good news? If I read this correctly, TNT can show season 1 and the 6 unshown episodes. Then they can choose not to produce anymore of the series. The episodes they can show are probably pretty tame for a cable network (there was some bleeping of language but unless there is a directors cut lying around somewhere the audience may be a little disappointed (much the same as the network audience was). Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the show and it could be great on cable but I don’t see 100% TNT support for this.
Yeah – love the show!!
