EXCLUSIVE: I've confirmed there's no director hired yet. And the two productions won't be back-to-back.
But that hasn't stopped Summit Entertainment from newly scheduling its Twilight threequel for release on June 30, 2010, not long after its Twilight sequel New Moon set for November 20th this year now being helmed by Chris Weitz. Summit also officially changed the name of its vampire movie franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series of novels to The Twilight Saga. Here's how Summit descibes the plot of the threequel Eclipse:
"As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death."
Regarding The Twilight Saga, my sources tell me that director Catherine Hardwick's claim in her diary that she didn't want to helm New Moon isn't accurate because Summit decided not to hire her for New Moon. And I've also learned that Summit only had a deal with Stephenie Meyer for the first book, Twilight. So the start-up film studio had to make individual deals for the other books in Meyer's series, including the new 4th novel Breaking Dawn -- and the author got top-dollar, trust me. To date, Summit's low-cost blockbuster Twilight has earned $363 million in worldwide grosses -- almost evenly divided between domestic and international -- since its release on November 21st, 2008.

Isn’t it a bit too soon to start thinking about a third movie? I mean, they haven’t even started shooting the second film — why not wait to see if it makes money before doing the third (and possible fourth) film? “Twilight”’s success could be a fluke until this winter.
The success of the first film doesn’t exactly qualify as a viable film franchise — I mean, look what happened with “Fantastic Four” and the underperforming sequel (bad example, I know).
No way is it too early. Twilight was a huge money maker for them. It brought in an audience demo that they generally can’t manage to attract. And their cast of never aging vampires is aging.
Whoa already?? I’m really excited for that but New Moon comes out in November, and then they’re going for Eclipse in June?? Thats way too early. Hope they make it good because that is not a lot of time to try to make a good and successful movie.
ahhhh OMG!
yay i dont think its too long….
cause they finish filming in what september?
rite soo….they can start in novemeber….or october…
AND have it ready for june!
2 movies next year! i am so happy
i am such a big fan!
Summit can do what it wants, but it seems to me that this formula just hasn’t worked in the past. “Matrix Reloaded” hit big, but “Revolution” fizzled when it opened later that year. The third “Pirates” also opened less than a year after the second and grosses more than $100mil less.
You can attribute this to the general decline of threequels compared to sequels, but less time between movies just does not seem like the best model.
so what about breaking dawn…..i hope it will come out as well b/c it brings everything together. I read somewhere that Robert might work on a play in 2010, wonder if that will mess him up w/a possible breaking dawn movie. He also kept saying in his interviews the 3 movies…..what does anyone out there think about breaking dawn also getting filmed. i hope it does
Can you smell the desperation? Come on… Summit is hurting. They want to get their shit ton of money out of Twilight as fast as they can to keep themselves afloat. They made enough with Twilight to pay for the next two, they want to get them out the door as quickly as possible. It’s really that simple. Get it done and let Stewart and Pattinson move on to new stuff.
No offense but they’re too eager for the money. Eclipse is being released June 10th 2010? Not even a year after?! If they keep this pace they series will be over before it even got to it’s peak
I agree with CW’s comment. It’s not too early at all. They decided on New Moon, right after Twilight come out!!! They know exactly how to make their money, and seeing all the Twihard fans they have, including myself….. every single movie they make for the Twilight Saga will be an extreme success!!!
no it’s not too soon, Matt, Twilight is a profitable franchise and they want to milk out as much money as they can from it.
No way! I can not wait!
I agreed with the other two person that had put their comments. It’s currently to early to make Eclipse when you just barley released New Moon. Some of us fan will think that you are trying to compete by make these movie at the same time. And also releasing it around 6 moth apart. I hope they can take a little bet more time to think about it before starting on Eclipse.
no way is it to early they dont want the charecters to age to much and im sure that they are worried that they might loose some fan base do to growing up in nicer terms so i think that its good that they are getting them all out quickly plus with the econ the way its going maybe that has something to do with it. anyways i just hope that they do something with breaking dawn but i have to say my favorite book was eclipse so im happier then ever that its coming out!!!!
I can’t wait book 2 and three are my favs ….Exactly!! they are aging so the sooner they film, the better right? I just hope it turns out ok.
This is very similar to what they did for The Lord of the Rings. I think its a good idea to get the vampires while they still look the same age.
Dude, once they said they were doing New Moon, they decided to film both New Moon and Eclipse simultaneously. The actors aren’t getting any younger so they need to shoot as fast as possible.
So as soon as New Moon is done, they’ll start filming Eclipse.
They have no choice but to hurry because their cast of never aging vampires is aging.
I’m sure that all the fans of Twilight are anxious for all 4 books to be made into movies….
is elizabeth reaser gonna be in it ?
i just love her acting skilllls
Why are they rushing? They should spend time making it as good as it can be not try to make as much money as fast as possible. It’s not like we’re going to stop wanting to see it if we have to wait a year, in fact that creates even more anticipation. I want it to get dragged out for as long as possible because once we’ve read all the books AND seen all the movies the Twilight obsession will be over and they’d be no more excitement and waiting. Then again, maybe they want to get them all out while the Twilight teens are still teenagers and not like 30 lol.
well they do have to do it before the actors actually start aging
but i think they shouldnt release eclipse so early because it will be to rushed and probaly crap
Is this a surprise? I’m surprised they didn’t greenlight 2 & 3 together immediately. #1 was a huge hit. #2 could consist solely of dancing teddy bears and would still be a huge hit because of #1. And everyone will go to see #3 regardless of what happens in #2 because it’s the final book in the series. Provided they don’t go insane on the primaries’ deals, they’re printing money with this series.
i hope they don’t screw up the next 2 (maybe 3??) movies. I loved how Twilight was done, though I was hoping it could have stuck closer to the book but still a good movie nonetheless. It’s very enthusiastic and confident of them to set a release date for Eclipse already. I think even though most fans would have dread a long wait period, as long as the movie is good and not rushed .. i think the wait would it be way worth it! Not like some 90 minute movie. Yuck!
best of luck to Eclipse!
Fantasic, because they need the actors to stay Young, to portray the vamps…
If true, I hope they are not pushing it. I would rather wait and have a movie that knocks my socks off. It’s my favorite of all the books. I hope they do it justice!!! I know that all the Twilight Saga movies will do well… there are alot of us Twilighter out there just waiting for these movies. We will wait… just make them good!
when i auditioned for this a year and a half ago it was a three movie deal.
They probably would love to release Eclipse the same way they’re releasing New Moon — exactly a year apart — but there’s a little movie called Harry Potter in November 2010 and so that option is out. Hence, the June (summer) release. Twilight seemed to cross the hell out of several demographics as evidenced by it’s staying power (you can’t say it’s only little kids and tweens who’ve kept it going for 3 months strong in theaters) so I imagine New Moon will do as well if not better — especially if the film itself ends up being a film critics like as opposed to Hardwicke’s version that got raked over the coals. I think Chris Weitz will make New Moon into the movie that Twilight SHOULD have been and the franchise will grow because of that — grow and get better. It makes sense that they’ve announced Eclipse now and do we really blame Summit for cashing in on their lottery win?
The question is whether Pattinson and Stewart will sign on for the 4th and final part of this escapde. If the powers that be can manage to keep BD out of their hands so they don’t get a chance to actually read and annalyze the WTF that the book is, then possibly. I hate to say it because I love Pattinson and I did enjoy most of the books, but if I were them and BD was on the table as an actual film to be made, I’d run for the hills screaming. That is unless someone comes in and tears that shit apart, rewrites it and comes up with something more tolerable.
And of course THAT could happen.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha….
Unless they pull off a major coup de théâtre the second movie is gonna bite. They’re audience of teenage girls is growing up fast and like most teenage girls, their taste changes fast.
Even as fast as they may go, it won’t be fast enough. The buzz around “Oh, Edward…” will prolly make the 2nd movie a $$ success but a 3rd. ha, not unless the 2nd is actually a good movie.
Then, their might be hope.
I think they must have to do the movies so close together because, like some others mentioned, the vampires never age so we can’t have people looking way older. Besides, they shot Twilight in like 5 months and look how well it did. No matter what happens, people will go see these movies. And by the way I heard that they had signed on to make Breaking Dawn into a movie as well. Now this could surely be a rumor, but nonetheless it has been reported.
I’m actually somewhat glad it’s coming out at the time it is…It means that I’ll get to see it before I leave to teach in Japan…I’ll then also get to see it when it premeres over there probably around Christmas time.
summit owns the rights to make Breaking Dawn. that was in the trades. what no one know is if the actors are signed on for the 4th book.
Yup I also heard that Breaking Dawn Was Pick up by Summit to be a movie I just hope its True I want to see Bella become a Vampire.
I love the Twilight Series but if they don t make Breaking Dawn into a movie I will go insane! are they just going to stop at eclipse and leave us hanging?
The name “The Twilight Saga” has been used by the publisher Little, Brown and Co for young readers since the release of Eclipse in 2007, so that really wasn’t a “change” by Summit. Also, the plot synopsis is somewhat inaccurate. Bella wanted to be changed into a vampire, the Volturi demanded it happen, Edward’s family (all except Rosalie) wanted her, the problem was Edward not wanting to deprive her of her humanity (this was in New Moon).
For whatever reasons Catherine Hardwicke and Summit parted ways (which is between those two parties), I believe part of Twilight’s success can be attributed to Catherine Hardwicke’s passion for Stephenie’s story of Bella and Edward and desire to keep true to the storyline to the point of involving Stephenie during filming, as well as her relationship with the fanbase, i.e. MTV’s Twilight Tuesdays and approved visits by fansite members. With constant & consistent updates, we anxiously & excitedly awaited the film.
Summit must be aware the movie’s monetary success was attributable to multiple viewings by us “rabid” fans (10-15 times, or more – it would be interesting to find out how many different people saw the movie).
I agree with the comment on the cast’s aging situation, so releasing Eclipse earlier makes sense. But, if they sacrifice quality in the screenplay adaptation, CGI and editing just to churn them out, as well as any large straying from the storyline, I’m afraid the fans will just see it once and wait for the DVD.
I think they are making these movies back to back because they are going to surprise us with Breaking Dawn
i am most certainly excited and ecstatic that the films will be coming out close to each other. i agree with the cast ‘aging’ point that people are making and that the series should be shot closer to each other; the actors’ real “ages” will match up with it in the movie, unlike the Harry Potter franchise, which is a good thing.
the only thing i’m worried about, however, is…. won’t there be a conflict with premieres so close to each other? i mean look: Twilight wasn’t even released in Japan yet and it’s nearly the end of February. If New Moon isn’t released in other countries in the same month/around the same time, won’t there be an issue with filming Eclipse and having to attend premieres?
I think they are making a mistake releasing it this soon after New Moon. Filming it soon is fine, but November and June are so close that it will cause franchise burnout (see the six-month gap between Back to the Future Parts II and III, The Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions, and the two Pirates of the Caribbean sequels as examples of this.) I don’t think there has ever been a case wheree a six-month gap has yeilded a third movie as successful as the other two.
And yet they have a dilema on their hands because Harry Potter is in November 2010, and if they wait until November 2011 the fans will probably have moved on (this is a craze, people, and will not have the staying power of Potter.)
I think the solution is clear to both avoid the franchise burnout snd not go too far between films: Release Eclipse on the first weekend of March 2011. This is the slot where 300 became a huge blockbuster, outpacing everyone’s expectations, and all signs point to Watchmen doing extremely well too. It is far enough away to allow Potter to have played for several months and be on the tail end of its run, but at the same time it is close enough to the second film (16 months) to keep interest up without kiilling it as the six-month gap will. Anticipation is part of the fun.
Plus, as far as I know, no studio has yet claimed March 2011 for a major tentpole, so Summit could stake it out now and have the month to itself in terms of BIG films (like Watchmen is the only massive-scale film going out this March>)
I smell a Narnia curse here. Remember what happened after the 1st Narnia made tons of money for Warden and Disney? The same thing the studio announced of greenlight the rest of the books into movies.
No need for me to tell you what happened to the sequel.
I think Summit should play it safe and take it 1 step at a time. By the way, saw Twilight and sorry to say, it was total crap! But I am no fan-grr..so excuse me!
I think it’s hilarious that so many posts are devoted to a horrible movie franchise based on a bunch of terribly-written novels.
i love that they are releasing eclipse early… but they better take their time if they end it at eclipse it beter be a darn good movie because the way it ends leaves room for the next movie (that they might not make)so it wont make as much if people arent going to see BD
I’m soooo Happy and excited, the third book is my favourite of them all! And I love the Cast!! <3
I think they should continue shooting them this close together but not necessarely release them that close. Since theyre not supposed to age they DO have to have them done soon. But that doesnt mean they have to sabotage the rising fame thats coming with it. Many more people are getting into it and if they do it too soon it’ll be over before it’s REALLY started.
I do agree that making movies to close together does not make for a good movie. To make a good movie you need time. The books were very attention getting. They made you want to read the next because the way the other ended. It would be a huge disappointment if the movies did not live up to the book. Alot of times pertinent things are left out of the movie that were in the book and it becomes disappointing. Twilight compared much so to the book. They were very similar, had a few changes, but still kept you intrigued throughout the movie. If the producers can keep that in the movies they will be doing a good job and will make the money they need to keep the movies going.
nikki -
in all this coverage… from summit to hardwicke to weitz to the actors to meyer to worldwide gross… not one mention of the screenwriter of all three movies: melissa rosenberg. c’mon nikki, you know better than that.

Come on everybody, Twilight the movie was terrible. I really wanted to love it but I can’t even make myself like it.It was rushed with bad special effects and medicore acting. The only reason it did so well is because the books has such a huge fanbase. Those same fans will go see New Moon with high hopes. I think we are all going to be disappointed because Summit is rushing and not giving these movies the time, attention, and the budget they deserve. Instead of being worried about Eclipse, they need to focus on New Moon. Summit is hacking our beloved Twilight triology and fans a supporting it.
Gosh! Why does anyone care how soon after New Moon that Eclipse will come out? I’m a fan and I think its great! Everyone has to all ways have an opinion! I hope Breaking Dawn comes out 8 months after that! I love the books for what they are! Everyone with negative commets are taking this all way to personally! I’m pretty sure they know what they are doing! That’s why its their job, not yours!
im stoked for new moon-but eclipse coming out so soon after..ehhh. i would rather wait a year for eclipse to come out than watch a sucky rushed movie. come on, good things take time!!
Omg omg omg omg omg!!!!!!
I soooo can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
xoxo
No, I don’t think it is too early…I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!

This is AMAZING!
After seeing Twilight, I couldn’t WAIT for the next one!
A year seems like forever and I’m so glad that I won’t have to wait so long for Eclipse, my second fave book!
I love the Twilight series, and I’m definately going to all of the premieres
It’ll make alot of money for sure, the first showing was sold out in EVERY theatre in North America for the first movie!
I really really hope that they make Breaking Dawn into a movie, it’s my favourite book
And I hope they keep the original cast for it :]
Come on everyone. I don’ t see why everyone is making such a big I Idon’t see the big deal about the actor’s ages. Until they’re in their 30’s, it won’t matter. Make-up artists can do wonders, right? They make old people look young and vice versa.
Besides, the movie- and book- were very mediocre. Not good, not bad. Stephenie Meyer is certainly not going to be remembered as a classic like Shakespear or Bronte. I am a fan, but this really just a fad, like Crocs once were and Uggs still are. Great, Eclipse is only 6 months after New Moon. I’m not expecting it to be Oscar- worthy anyway. Besides, in the first place, it is extremely rare for sequels or threequels to be as good as the first movie. I can name very few sequels that earned more money than the first movie.
I think it’s amazing that some of you are even surprised at such a close release date. I’m fairly certain it was said at one point that if they made more of the books into movies that they would have to do them and quick procession of each other. That’s due to the fact that vampires don’t age.
While there’s the likely-hood this is also for money reasons which it normally is you still have to keep in mind things like this.
Mabey it is too soon to talk about New Moon but I am just excited to see another Twilight Saga movie come together!!!!!!!!
I honestly cant wait I loved the books even though i have just heared about them like maybe a month ago, I have read ever one of the books I loved them, and I cant wait to see the first, let alone the second. and on the whole timing thing honestly I love that they are so close together because i have read all the harry potter books too and i am frustrated that i have to wait so long to see the movies….
The popularity of Twilight and it’s sequels is not a fluke. The fan base for the books alone is incredibly secure. These fans want and to a certain extent “need” to see their beloved characters come to life on the big screen. I personally hope that Summit finally sees this and invests the time and quality the fans of the series deserve. The fans will come through, might as well make it good for them to keep coming back for more. Just my humble opinion of course.
i think that it is totally ridiculous that they are thinking about filming the third movie when the second one is not even in full bloom yet. for anyone who has not read the books, new moon is the slower book. it is the one where you basically learn more about jacob and see bella and edward’s relationship deepen towards the end. some people who have not read the books, might watch new moon and be totally turned off by it because of its lack of action and surprises. i think that they should definitely wait till after seeing the turn out for new moon before they begin even running ideas for eclipse let alone breaking dawn.
For those fans worrying about a slapdash job, the end result will be Chris Weitz’s and the third director’s fault. I read that Melissa Rosenberg handed in a script to Summit for “New Moon” after “Twilight” was released — she did revisions and she’s probably working on “Eclipse” right now. Rest assured, she has plenty of time and these aren’t as long or dense as the infinitely-superior HP series.
Although I think a 6 month delay in between movies is too short. Summit’s going to have to snag another director soon for “Eclipse” if they want to make that June 30, 2010 release.
i think its the right decision rob pattinson is what 22/23? he aint getting any younger n vamps dont age. lord o the rings was back-back so why not newmoon n elclips it can be done. fans will go watch it irrelevant of how good the books are portrayed as they would be too curious not to. as for breaking dawn it was my least favourite but i think that should be 2 books as its got a lot of detail in it. i cant wait at least newmoon would be fresh in our mind ready for the release of eclips. bring it on
I believe this movie is going to be a hit just like the first. Summit entertainment always creats great movies and I cannot wait till new moon Its gonna be just as good as twilight and eclipse is gonna do the same. Just keep Robert as Edward Cullan pleaseeee!!
I think it is amazing that they are setting the date for eclipse!! i think, like Twilight, new moon..eclipse..and breaking dawn will be a HUGE success!!! i cant wait for thema ll to come out!! the books were AMAZING so i cant wait to see what the movies are like! i hope they keep all the SAME cast members, because they are all amazing and perfect for each roll!!!
Most Twilighters I know are thrilled about the first three books being made into movies, but are really excited about the possibility of Breaking Dawn wrapping up the series though with everything in BD – we’d need at least two movies
YAY I CANT WAIT I FULLY LOVE THIS MOVIE I HOPE THE REST OF THE MOVIES ARE GREAT LIKE THE FIRST 1 ALL THE ACTERS ARE JUST GREAT I LOVE EDWARD I HOPE THEY DONT CHANGE THE CHARACTERS THAT SUCKS WHEN THEY DO !! =(
cANT WAIT TILL THE NEXT ONE !
AWESOME..!!
but it’s just toooo soon is it not?..
i mean new moon releases 20 november 2009..and eclipse the summer after that..?
not that im complaining.
I think it’s a good idea to let them follow so closely because they have to look the same age and then not just that they need to keep it fress while everyone is still drooling over the first one…the matrix and fantastic four is nowhere near twilight and there is more to this story than to the other two mentioned above. I really hope they do make breaking dawn because that’s what the fans wants to see and I think that will be a very good movie if it’s as good as the book. They just have to be very carefull that they don’t rush too much and that they make the other movies with the same enthusiam and energy and compassion as with twilight because if they don’t the fans will be very dissapointed…I know I will be. So please guys don’t ruien the other movies and please make the 3 that follows after twilight.
They are just trying to crank these things out before their demo graph realizes how horrible the stories actually are
I love that they are not waiting too long to release the next movie. If thy wait to long Rob Pattinson and the rest of the cullens are going to look older as the saga continues. We cant let that happen.
ellspawn
That strongly depends on who you are asking. I myself love the books.
people have you seen the craziness this book has caused true twihard fans will stick to these movies over and over its pretty early but still there is no doubt in any twihards mind that this movie will do amazingly well.
Well because these are based on books that are hugely popular, I don’t think they are going to have the problems that they had with the Matrix debacle (I heard they were horrible), but then again you never know. I am very excited myself for the movies to come out and I think they can be done well in the given time frame under the right direction. As for Robert doing a play, I have no idea about that but he DID mention in an interview with MTV at the Oscars that they would be doing Breaking Dawn at some point and that he would be all Twilighted out be the end of the year, or someting to that effect. I am pretty sure he plans on staying for the whole ride and he also said he might schedule things in between the movies but that seems to be his main priorities right now. He doesn’t seem stupid and these are his ticket to being able to pick and choose future projects, not having to take whatever is thrown at him because he won’t be just another starving actor in Hollywood. That’s just my take on the whole situation.
it think its a good idea to to do the movies now before the characters in the boooks age.
C whats up with all the negativity? i say let them continue, a lot of people noticed that the first movie was different than the first book.I saw it as well, it was still great. Twilight the movie was the reason that i picked up the three other books in the first place. Now lets all just keep quiet a wait for the movies to com in because they will all make just a much money and they will all give us a different look on the saga>>>>>
I really don’t think they’ll make Breaking Dawn into a film. If you’ve read the book, you’ll probably understand it’s pretty difficult to translate that into film.
I dont think they will make Breaking Dawn in to a film either.Even if they did how would they put Bellas daughter in the film? I also personaly think that we should get done with New Moon the movie befor we woary about the other books!!!
OMG if you have not seen Twilight you have to go see it NOW!It is so awsome.I can not wait till new moon comes out a year to me seems a like a long time!
i thought this was a very interesting and engrosing film and book series.
come on!
they are vampires
they cant age
how stupid will it look if the last film came out 4 years later ?
of course they are trying to get the films out
Hello all from Europe,
I don’t know what all this debate’s about. I’ve seen Twilight three times so far (wish I’d had more time)and I’m longing for the rest of the books to be turned into movies. In the meantime, I’m gonna make do with the DVD which is bound to come out beginning of April in the UK. My guess is that no matter when each movie comes out, it will attract all the fans that were addicted to the novels.
I don’t buy the “actor age” argument, though – to me it seems another side of the “how can Summit profit best” discussion. I mean, look at “Benjamin Button” and you can see how irrelevant an actor’s age has become if the production company is willing to cough up enough dough to make waiting worth the while. I more tend to fear that the Twilight saga could be just a passing fad and that, by unnecessary prolonging the staging of the individual parts for income reasons, Summit could overshoot the point where the fad peters out, thus missing an audience that gladly would have liked to see the movies in the cinema half a year earlier but now just go and by the DVD to have it on the shelf – *if* they feel like it.
And since I’d like to see the other books put into movies, I say: forge the iron while it’s still hot. It would be just too bad if BD suffers from a bad box office result due to overlong postponing …
Just my $0.02.
i think it should come out on the 8th!!!!!!!!! thats my birthday!!!
I also believe that its to early! I am a huge fan of the books and the movie, however, I don’t believe its a smart move to throw them all out like that! Also, I feel its ridiculous how they have a new director on each movie makes me nervous
I don’t believe that they won’t do a movie for breaking dawn though. Nobody is saying anything most likely because it is to early. I think with the fan base that the twilight saga has produced it will be huge no matter what, cause like me there are thousands of fans waiting to see more…
the twilight was good i never see the movie but i like
the way they acted
march 13 2009
by there fans sulema from brownsville texas
OMG, I love Edward Cullen. He is so hooooooooot. I loved the movie but don’t really like Robert Pattinson the way he parties. Can’t wait for the next movies. Also, I found an awesome Twilight screensaver that is free check it out. http://linksador.net/screensavers/?p=676
They have to do these movies in a reasonable amount of time, vampires dont age and the actors do. People all ages love twilight I dont think there rushing anything I am very exited for all the books to be made into movies and am addicted to Twilight!
Despite what everyone is saying that the movie was “crap” i totally disagree. I hadn’t read any of the books before i saw the movie, and the movie made me rush out and buy all 4 books.
Yes the movie was a bit different to the books ie leaving out the “blood typing scene”, but it is a hollywood movie, there has to be more action for the non fans to watch.
Personally, i know many people disagree, but Breaking Dawn was my favourite book in the series. I’m crossing my fingers that they make BD into a movie. I loved the fact that Stephanie tied up all the loose ends, and i’m also upset that it’s the last book in Bella’s perspective, i wanted to know what happens with Renessmae!
I think the movies will all be great . The screen writer has had ages to write them all and Stephanie does get her say before they are released, so fear not, she wouldn’t let anyone mess with her “baby”!
I don’t care what peoples opinions are to the release dates to the movies. I can’t wait to see all 4!! I have never really been much into reading a single authors books, until I caught the “Twilight bug” HaHa! I love them so much. I thought the movie was wonderful, even down to the looks that Edward gives Bella. It’s so surreal, and I’m counting down the days to see New Moon
i cant wait to see the hole saga, but i just hope they do a good job on the next 3 expecialy if they are bringing them out so close together, i wouldnt mind seeing alot of love scenes in breaking dawn.
I think twilight was a good movie, but also think it could have been made better. I also think that the rest of the books should be made into movies. As we all see Harry Potter did well. I personally will be disappointed if they all arent made.
I really have nothing to say. Both ways seem pretty equal on each side. On the one hand, you’ve got the fact that the actors will look different with time. If you look at the Harry Potter movies, Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t look the same from movie to movie; he’s older, and you can see the difference. On the other hand, you’ve got the fact that you don’t want a movie to be made so quickly, with so little time. It wouldn’t come out as good. I do not agree, however, that Pattinson and Stewart should move on to new stuff. Take the Mummy for example. There were two different actresses in the second and third ones, and that put me off. I did not like that at all. If you change the actors after two or three movies, and put different ones, the audience is not going to be pleased. I was reading through some comments back when Taylor Lautner was about to be replaced, and almost half of the fans swore they wouldn’t see the movie if Lautner was gone. I personally don’t care so much is Taylor leaves, I like the plot of the movie most, and I want a good storyline. If Summit changes any actors once they get too deep in this saga, I beleive its guranteed they will lose a lot of fans. There are pros and cons to each side of this, and I have not decided what would be better, I just thought everything should be laid out.
Woah..I freaked out when I seen this.Because it made it even cooler because im obsessing on Twilight right now.so..wow they know already?that was fast..Still cant wait!!
they probably wont stick to this release date, theyre just going to film it due to the fact the stars are aging while in the story they dont.
besides they need time to write all the lines and understand the movie etc etc etc.
but oh well id like to see the books converted into movies, i want to see if they have improvements with the acting and also as a fan of the books.
it really doesn’t matter how much time they take b/w the movies, there will be millions of women rushing to see their vampire loves no matter how good or bad the movies turn out
its all about the dedication of the fans and twilight fans are hardcore
they’re addicted
I cannot wait for the 3rd and 4th books to come to the screen! They are not your typical vampire movies but I am absolutely hooked!!! I think the on screen chemistry between Kristen and Rob is so exciting and fresh! Way to go Summit for thinking of the fans and putting these out
It sure beats the Harry Potter series because exactly how long have we been waiting for the Half Blood Prince release? A Bit too long I’m afraid! I am all to happy about the quick releases, it keeps its readers and fans very happy……
There are some series of movies made back-to-back just not released that way.One of those would be Lord Of The Rings.I am sure there are others. This series will probably be big like Harry Potter but with a silghtly different age range.
Hey, what are they talking about teenage fans. I’m a 39 year old married with kids female with a keen enthusiasum for the Twilight Saga. Have read all 4 books and can’t get enough. I say they can’t bring the movies on quick enough for me. These are the best stories I have ever read in my life. They gave me nail biting suspense, passion, laughter and by the end of it I still wanted more!!
Haha… People are so Retarded.
Robert Patterson Will Age.[As well as all the other vampires.]
They aren’t supposed to get older. (Because they are Vampires)
So the sooner they can get the movies done, the better.
summit has a whole host of problems. ‘new moon’ coming out in november in the u.s. then it’s coming out in january in europe. and then ‘eclipse’ comes out in june in the u.s. and july in europe. and we haven’t even started talking about asia.
1.) most young europeans are fluent in english. they will actively seek out ‘new moon’ and download it in november. if you were a fan, would you want to wait 2 more months?
2.) ‘new moon’ is a total rush job. the clips shown at comic con confirm this. chris weitz has totally changed the look of the film. it’s all about ripped muscles.
the robert pattinson character is only in the first 2 chapters at the beginning of ‘new moon’ and the last few chapters at the end. the book is incredibly slow as most of it takes place inside bella’s head.
the whole putting pattinson in as a ‘vision’ to satisfy fans and get him more into the film is probably a mistake.
twilight opened on the merits of the book. the film opened to $35M on a friday night. then dropped off by 40% the next day. summit probably interpreted this drop as meaning the fangirls didn’t like the film. but no. this just meant that they _had_ to see it on opening day.it hung around for 3 or 4 months because they kept going back to see it.
chris weitz (american pie, about a boy) was the absolute worse choice to direct this film based on books told from a female perspective. but as we see sexism and cronyism is alive and well in the film industry.
weitz destroyed the golden compass and he will do the same to ‘new moon.’ and we can see that as the director doesn’t even know how to spell her name.
but the fan girls will line up to see the film again. and it will get big numbers opening day. but it will burn out after about 3 weeks and make half of what twilight pulled in.
3.) eclipse
it’s too bad they didn’t just condense new moon and fold it into eclipse. this would’ve been the better move. had summmit been more focused on making quality goods, they would’ve considered this. because if the argument is true (which i don’t buy into) that robert pattinson is the pull then this wouldn’t have mattered.
but greed always plays a role in this industry.
4.) robert pattinson is not the draw
contrary to thought, tween fangirls would see the twilight saga no matter who played edward cullen, as long as he was handsome in a non-threatening kinda way. pattinson being edward is just the icing on the cake.
you’ll notice in all these online images of females throwing their arms around pattinson that they are all middle-aged. the tweens are just into the book and are screaming for the edward character who has lived with them in their heads since the books came out in 2005.
just you wait. he won’t be able to open a movie. and the next stuff he has lined up are big snoozers of ralph fiennes proportion.
those of u who a re complaining…stop it. Your obviously twilight fans for being on this site so just be happy they are making them. don’t be so pecimistic. i’m over the moon that they are making the new ones and they have to do them close together cus the people arent supposed to age!!
