so, the most popular films happen to be two big-budget movies with mediocre stories, bad acting, and awful music.
how sad…
Nikki
The demand is due to the fanboy-effect (or in this case, fangirl-effect)
Looking at the top 2 titles, I would assumed the young girls were the one rushing out to get the tickets more so that than the older viewers
Don’t be surprise to see Bond being the big winner. Afterall, it is known for older viewers to take their time to go to the movies and for repeat viewings.
I still think Twilight grosses will be underwhelming, but it wouldn’t be difficult for Summit to do okay if it drops in with $25 million and the P&A remains reasonable.
A lot about the Twilight movie seems like vapor, but I will be happy to be wrong. Anything that brings in a rising tide is welcome. We’ll soon see.
Twilight is going to kick everyones ass at the boxoffice. UGLYPUNK you can go sit you ass down by yourself in the other empty theaters. Lucky you, you’ll get first pick at your seat.
One might get the impression Twilight is HIGHLY ANTICIPATED. And James Bond only 3%? Wow.
Sad is how uninformed you are, ugly punk girl. HSM’s production cost 11 mil and Twilight’s 37. That’s hardly big.
Ugly Punk Gurl, not to defend HSM3 or Twilight, but neither is anywhere near “big budget” by studio standards. The production budgets are 11 and 30 mil, respectively.
Or, they just want to be entertained during hard economic times, UGLY PUNK GIRL! Personally I find the abuse of caps lock to be ugly.
ugh, ugly punk girl – go take a prozac.
cant wait for Twilight, its going to be a great movie, and I cant wait for the sequels!!!!!Oh and Im 27, not a teen like everyone believe and my mom and grandma both read the books too!
Twilight is not just some movie w/ a cute guy in it… i am actually waiting for it to hit theaters mainly to see if it does the book justice. I have read all 4 of the books and love the entire story line, and can’t wait to see how it is on the big screen.
Twilight is going to do great at the theaters….And for all the people that think its just some teen girl movie, than get ready to be surprised because there are alot of grown women and men (me being one of them) that cant wait for this movie to come out.
I can’t wait for Twilight to come out and I’m in my 50’s. I just discovered the series and I’m so hooked. The people going to see the film won’t just be teenagers, it will be like the Harry Potter audience.
i laugh at all of the people who are predicting that twilight’s sales will be underwhelming. i can’t wait until this movie blows all of the year’s sales out of the water. BTW… i am 26, not a teen and i plan on seeing this movie multiple times, and so do my friends.
Twilight is going to be awesome! if you have seen the trailers you know that they change almost everything that i have loved since the begginng, but i still can’t WAIT for it to come out!
I cant wait for twilight to come out…like i have read the books over and over again…its the best story…and its not just about like a hot vampire there is so much more in the story…i know so many people who read it that r not teen girls…there are men and women who read it that r not teens…there are even some teen boys who read….its like a hp sensation just expanding..(no pun intended i am a hp fan too)….
so UGLYPUNKGIRL….u need to know bout things b4 u say it.,,,think b4 u speak…n
i did go to see HSM3…it was actually good…and there were so many more ppl there then just teens…andyounger kids…although
I wish i get to go to the midnight showing of twilight that wld just b awesome…i cant wait for the next movies to come out…and this one is almost out…yay we have like 17 days til TWILIGHT
So, I’m not one of those Twilight bashers. On the contrary, I absolutely loved the books. I shut myself up in my apartment for 2 days so I could read them seamlessly.
But I really don’t think the movie is going to come anywhere near the greatness of the books. I saw an 8 minute clip where Edward brings Bella to his house for the first time and the dialogues just seemed so awkward and forced.
I hope I am wrong, though. Maybe it was all out of context.
If you want to see that clip, go to i-am-bored.com.
Part of the clip has a little joke in it, but the rest is authentic.

This was very early in the relationship and no wonder it was awkward. A human walking into a house with 6 vampires?!?! You know how it is when you meet a family for the first time, when you were dating!
Twilight is not just teens, I am in my 40s and lots of my friends and son’s teachers are really into it.
I do hope it is good and does well!!
wow! the twilight movie is finally almost in theaters. I can’t wait. I’ll be the first in the theater seats.
Ok, I love how people can’t help but say negative things about Twilight. I think that it will shock many on how well this does in theaters and not solely on the hot guy factor, but by the true fans of the book. I’ve already bought myself tickets for opening day and the day after… along with about 15 other tickets for friends and family (by request). I’m a 30 year old woman who found these books to be full of emotion and I absolutely adored them enough to read them multiple times, as did my mother-in-law, sister-in-law’s and several of my same aged friends. We are all looking forward to this movie and I personally can’t wait to see the shocked faces of the many naysayers out there.
I’m hoping it will do well too.
I saw the clip and I really enjoyed all the acting and I felt that all the characters were portrayed really well.
It was only until I saw the special effects that my stomach just dropped to the floor…I hope they did something to improve it or else this movie is going to be destroyed by the critics. I’m just being honest. I really really really hope that they changed the effects though…
I have read all four books. I am so anxious for this movie to come out, it’s insane. I just hope it can gross more the guesstimated 150 million for New Moon to start production.
I have never been a really big book reader and my 34 year old sister in law talked me into reading it. I am 32 and was instantly obsessed with finishing the book, and then the next and the next until I had them all finished.
I have a really good feeling about this movie and I think it will be awesome!!!!
Rob is a brilliant actor and extremely humble. I loved “The Haunted Airman”, “Bad Mother’s Handbook” and cannot wait to see “How To Be” and “Little Ashes”! I am sure Twilight will make a huge amount of money and the movies to come will be filled with expensive special effects. From 15 to 85 the age range on the fans is absolutely incredible!! I’ve never witnessed anything like it! I have been invited by 11 different friends to see it in 11 different theaters and as a fan; I have accepted all the invites. We have the power to bring the other books to the big screen if we all get out there and support it on opening weekend!! Let’s hit that 150 million mark for Catherine!!!!
I have about 10 different friends going Friday night and Saturday to see the movie this weekend. Our age group ranges to 25-45 y.o. our bofriends/husbands/fiances are all interested in the book and movie as well.
I just love twilight. I read all the books and I can’t wait until the movie coms out. I really wish that one day I could met the stars of twilight. TWILIGHT is the only good book that I read so far [ that was interesting]. This book is full of romances. I can’t wait to watch the movie. TWILIGHT ROCKS!!!!
I don’t really care about the numbers, I want to see the book come to life on the big screen. 25 years old and this saga happens to be my favorite ever!
went to see the movie 2 times once at the 12am showing and again last night loved it for the most part and our theater was packed both times I went there was even ppl standing in the back to get in even though it is 2hrs long.
Sorry Harold but Twilight is on it’s way to making far beyond 25 million, shoot they most likely made that in one day. As of 12:00pm 11/21 Twilight was on pace to making as much as the Dark Knight! Fandango reported they were selling 5 Twilight tickets every second!! It made it’s way to #3 on Fandgo’s all time best selling advanced ticket sales only behind The Dark Knight and Star Wars!!! It beat out Lord of the Rings and all the the Harry Potter movies! I thought the movie could of been better but ohh well I will most likely see it again anyways
Twilight broke even from online tickets and tickets in advance before it even came out.
I am not the sterotypical viewer of twilight, but, I really enjoyed it! Of course, my 13 year old daughter did love it as expected. we went to the opening night here & it was packed wih ALL AGES of viewers of both sexes.
It had sold out here in 2 days! Which, was ovious from the hordes of people waiting 2 hours before it even began. Upon leaving the 7:00 showing, it was packed to the very back of the theatre. Yet again, ALL ages & sexes. I predict this movie will gross way beyond what was predicted. The second installment can’t be far behind!
Both my 13 year old & I loved it! It is not a “fangirl” thing! It had sold out in 2 days here. The line was packed with all ages and sexes, at the 7:00 that we went to. Upon leaving the movie it was again packed with all ages & sexes. The second installment isn’t far away!
personnly i saw twilight twice one friday night and saturday night…and i’m a guy…and the movie was awsome/amazing..along with other words…i had an understanding that it wasnt a big budget movie…plus its not only young girls watching this movie…when i went i saw a ton of guys that went…also saturday night was a crowd of older viewers….so if something is good its good….
I went to see it Friday at the 1:30pm showing and i am a guy i will have to agree with everyone that was many older ages there to me i think there were more above 30 there my grandmother seen the trailer for Twilight and wanted to go so she went with me and she liked it shes 66!!! now its only monday we still have a while along before we see all the money Twilight made i am just hoping nothing blocks Summit from continuing with the series i dont know why people is complaining about the special effects this is the first movie you cant throw all this money into a potential movie series without seeing how good it does on the first one then you have the stability of putting more money into making special effects look at harry potter series when they started they actually didnt have that great of special effects as what the next movie had and it all depended if they made enough money incase the movie did tank and loose all that money i wouldnt want to put all that money into special effects when you have no idea the profit you may or may not get
I loved the book, loved the movie, casting did a good job, they were just how I imagined they would look like. I’m 32, and the movie appeals to all ages, not just the tween group, mind you. I read all four books and it was just superb. Move over jk Rowling!
Not sure if you know your movies or not – However – Big Budget deos not describe Twilight. It is a very small budget file put out by Summit. Before you speak, perhaps you should do a bit of research. The books were all best sellers.
I’m a girl 28 years old and I watched Twilight 2x on big screen, one premier night and a regular showing. It’s really amazing and irresistible! I’m not a fan of Twilight Saga before watching the movie but now I’m done reading the whole series in less than a week!!! The movie is great and the special effects are good despite the small budget, and it should not be compared to other top action movies because it’s not a whole action movie at all it’s a LOVE Story..!!!! Edward is gorgeous, fantastic and hot, Robert Pattinson is the best choice. My boyfriend, sister and cousin are now reading the book after watching the movie and we’re hunger for more. . . .and I think it’s a good way to go for the next movie to watch—New Moon…
twilight is the beat movie and edward is the best actor and he is so cute.
when will advance tickets go on sale for New Moon, the premier preferably?
