• Read her take last night. Was interesting, but you make a good point – I don’t get how it would take so long to write ten quick points on why Speed failed after the fact, after you. All the points were repeats. But I especially love the pixel/colour O.D. in the trailer that made kids say to their dads in a scared tone, “We don’t wanna see that!”. How dumb can Hollywood be? Speed is a perfect example of how Hollywood doesn’t understand movies anymore.

• I have often read posts on this blog that were mash ups of things I read elsewhere – the only difference is you generally put them together faster. Why I even bother to write this I do not know – LAT may edit their comments but at least they do print them. Still, whenever I want a giggle from over the top, hey look at me I have a blog I’m a journalist posts, I always come here. Like smoking, DHD is a hard habit to break.

• I think Anne Thompson is a good writer and remixing is the nature of blogs, so there’s no reason to attack her integrity. But Nikki clearly got into this story first, and actually did good and accurate reporting in service of the story. My own personal feeling is that people will some day appreciate the film as truly groundbreaking once the box office onus is off of it.
