Let the psychotic right-wing ranting begin…
Just a perfect rebuttal to Viera trying to start stuff here.
This guy has been known around town as a major asshole for years. He is a perfect idiotic fit with Democratic Caucus on Capitol Hill.
I’ve watched SNL since ‘76. When did Al Franken have a sense of humor?
“I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!”
Doesn’t see himself as 60th dem but 2nd Minn. I hope that’s true. We’ve had enough of these camps and Dem and Repub herds.
I am glad that Frankin is taking the whole thing seriously. He is now a Senator and that is serious business.
Best comments I’ve heard…
Caligula sent a horse to the Senate. Minnesota is just sending part of the horse.
And…
Fidel Castro became the Beloved Leader of Cuba partly because he had a mediocre curveball. Al Franken will become a Senator because he was a mediocre comic. At least Apricartus (Caligula’s equine senatorial appointment) was good at being a horse.
This clown is actually a U. S. Senator? We’re doomed.
No need for any ranting. Even the best cocooned liberal must be scratching his head on this appointment.
Listen to these powerless voiceless impotent Republicans chirping like the insignificant crickets they are. Funny how you Drudge/Limbaugh-addicted assclowns criticize Al Franken yet whenever Senator Larry Craig’s name is mentioned, all you wholesome GOP family values types dummy up. Why is that, Dittoheads? Come on, be pithy and opine. LOL
Tap tap tap tap tap tap…
Robespierre –
Little Boot’s equine appointment to the Roman Senate was not “Apricartus” but “Incatatus” (sometimes spelled “Inkatatus”). It’s enough to make you lose your head, huh?
And I wouldn’t limit Franken to merely being a horse’s ass. Even horse’s don’t have assholes that big. Next thing you know, we’ll have a congenital liar with a father-hang-up end up being Secretary of State, a serial plagiarist and cheap-jack crook as Vice President and a weak-kneed Euro-socialist in sheep’s clothing as President.
This bafoon is a psycho. Minnesota should never be able to send another person to in-habit the Senate again…on second thought, can we vote Minnesota out of the Union? A wrestler as governor first, and now an ass clown as senator. Idiots live in Minnesota.
Why the anger and hate towards Republicans? I thought liberals were supposed to be open-minded and compassionate “live and let live” types. What happened to that?
The disgusting thing about Franken is how he trys to compare himself to Paul Wellstone who was a gentleman.
He enjoyed the art of debate not the art of throwing a chair at someone you disagree with or calling people names. Franken is a child Who should be lucky the DFL run the election process in MN. I hope he grows up.
Hollywood money bought him that seat and I wish there was a law that to donate to a senator you have to LIVE in the state. Then Minnesota would have Senator Priscilla Lord Farris instead of Hollywood$$ Al.
LOL, pissed-off wingnuts, I love it! With this plus your queen Sarah Palin deciding that she can’t take the heat and quitting on her state in the middle of her term, and of course the whole Sanford saga, this just hasn’t been a good couple of weeks for you all. I’m playing the world’s tiniest violin for you all….
I’ll see your Sanford and raise you a Ted Kennedy, a John Edwards, a Bill Clinton (also in Argentina, allegedly at a strip club, leaving with a stripper, the same night as Sanford went to Buenos Aires). Heck I might even chip in a Barack Obama (alleged to have knocked up a campaign worker and exiled her to the Bahamas). Or a Hillary (allegations of lesbian relationships with her handler Huma Abedin). Or Barney Frank’s live in boyfriend running a prostitution ring out of his Apartment, and other one running Fannie Mae.
If you’re looking for pure at heart pols, or non cheaters, you’ll find neither in either Party, or Hollywood for that matter. There’s probably marginally more cheating among Dems (since there’s usually more of them in safe seats) and the record of Black mayors is not a proud one (Marion Barry) nor is that of Congressmen/women (Cynthia McKinney, Dem-Nutball, or Cold Cash Jefferson from D-New Orleans).
FWIW I liked Franken’s stuff, thought he was hilarious on SNL. As a politician, not so much. He got fraudulently elected (different standards for counting votes in each county, suspicious late-appearing ballots) and objectively, should have crushed Coleman in a Dem Year. He’s likely to be another Arnold, Ventura, and others who do poorly out of showbiz. Only Reagan understood how politics worked.
Palin’s obviously getting out Alaska to run for President. Much like Reagan did, as insurgent outsider (the Party apparatus hates her more than Letterman). Alaska is just too far to make it work otherwise, and Obama’s economy will tank Alaska particularly hard with carbon taxes/caps, taxes up the wazoo, and harassing ethics charges (Palin is not wealthy, 13 charges, exonarated every one). Reagan did this in 1976, it’s doable. Obama followed basically the same strategy (it was easy as the Junior Senator to be AWOL most of his two years there).
I like Al Franken. He made me laugh. He’s probably doomed though, even in the Senate. He’s the 60th vote. Waxman-Markey passes on his vote, he’ll make permanent enemies who will not forget — the bill is an abomination that will force most of America out of it’s cars and homes in a deep, lasting Depression. Not to mention create a trade war. If he votes against the bill, the Gore/Kossite nuts will be on the warpath. He’ll probably vote for it and be damned that way.
He’s a truly tragic figure, his election to the Senate for himself a personal tragedy of the highest order. Remember I told you so. Putting people out of their houses, cars, jobs to save the polar bear is a recipe for social disaster only Malibu millionaires high on coke could not see coming.
The reason Republicans are silent about the scandalous politicians is because we have been taught over the past few decades that these scandals are “no big deal” and they have “no effect on their job as a politician”. These are “personal matters” and they should be allowed to “do the job the were elected to do”. After years of moral equivalency things are just equaling out, and Republican scandals are no longer controversial. If Barney Frank can keep his job after running a brothel anything else pales in comparison.
The state of Minnesota, just like Florida with Al Gore, only recounted heavily Democrat districts, counted more ballots than were cast and chose not to count many mail-in ballots.
You get what you pay for in the Democrat party. God help us.
Let the Democrats here crow all they want because right now the clock is ticking on them, and they can feel it. ALL polls show that the American people NOW feel that enough time has passed and enough Presidential and Congressional decisions have been made for this to officially be OBAMA’s economy and NOT Bush’s anymore. Any better…or worsening…is squarely on their shoulders.
Bush left the U.S. with a $900 billion hole, but in only a mere 100 days Obama ballooned it to $2 TRILLION, plus his stimulus plan creates a $1 TRILLION deficit PER YEAR for the next 10 years out — which means Obama is about to leave taxpayers with a staggering $13 TRILLION debt. Worst of all, he’s not even done spending yet since now he wants to tack on health care AND immigration amnesty. Which, yes, we’ll all have to pick up the tab for as well.
So, go ahead and thump your chests, Libs. This is YOUR economy now — you know, the one that Obama said would never go above 8% unemployment if only we spent all that stimulus money, and now even the he is forced to admit it’s clearly going to cross into double-digit figures in the next month or so AND the numbers are only going to get WORSE by the end of the year. And of course, in a demonstration of true insanity, Washington wants to also adopt certain “green” policies from California — you know, the place that can’t even balance their own checkbook and are now so bankrupt they have to issue out IOUs.
Personally, I think it’s GREAT that Franken was finally declared the winner. I think it’s FANTASTIC that, of ALL possible people, Al freakin’ Frankin is now the 60th filibuster proof vote for the Dems. Because that makes Mr. Ass Clown the literal POSTER BOY for everything that’s going into the crapper right now. And best of all, the Dems CAN’T blame the Right for any of it since they’re now in absolute total control.
So, laugh it up while you can, Libs, because come election night for the midterm elections — which is when the American people are going to do their best Will Smith impression at the voting booth and say “Aw, hell no!” — you’re going to be screaming and weeping like no tomorrow.
First a wrestler as guv, now this failed Air America hack. I wonder how his Michael Moore-like excuse–”wait, I’m just a comedian”–will work when he royally screws up in the Senate.
Much news was made when Texas grumbled about seceding from the Union.
Can we just fire Minnesota? Before Carrot Top runs for something there?
Hey you Democrat douche bags, quit your crowing. As your party sinks this country into the quicksand, just like they’ve done to the state of Kalifornication, no cares about your Daily Kos talking points anymore. We are all on this ship together and the fucker is going down.
Maybe we can moderate the comments to exclude anyone who can’t spell “buffoon” correctly. And I will again remind Republicans that every single ballot approved was approved & observed by at least one Republican judge and multiple Republican observers. Norm Coleman himself and his lawyer both agree the election was fair & there was no fraud–isn’t that enough for you guys? (Oh yeah, and every single judge on the Minnesota Supreme Court was appointed by a Republican.)
Whiskey–falsely accusing President Obama of things isn’t going to get you far, and to the list of corrupt Republican pols we need to add Ensign, Vitter, Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, chief Republican fundraiser Jack Abramoff, Mark Foley, Rick Renzi, David Safavian, Steven J. Griles, and those implicated in Abramoff’s web of scandal but not yet convicted (congressman Jerry Lewis, congressman John Doolittle, Ralph Reed, Grover Norquist)…seriously? Do I need to go on?
Anyway, Franken won a hard-fought race, and I’m glad he’s finally being allowed to serve. Good luck to him.
Maybe he can look under the cushions, just like Bush did with those Iraqi WMDs.
We are all on this ship together and the fucker is going down.
True, but no party is responsible – the party system is what’s failed, and we the voters are responsible for not holding government’s feet to the fire and representing people over corporations.
Until we as a nation demand representation (with pitchforks and torches if need be), we deserve exactly what we have. Any other position merely feeds the machine.
Franken has no sense –just the right mix for our current political environment.
