Know this: I did not sell out. I really meant it when I said that DeadlineHollywood Daily.com will continue to be an independent editorial voice – and I would retain complete control over everything reported on the website -- so that DHD’s credibility with its readers could remain intact. Now, with this new company's advanced infrastructure and capable team, I can bring DHD to the next level starting next month. You have been asking for that: trust me, your frustrations have been my frustrations. The site will become bicoastal and debut a New York City-based senior journalist soon. I also expect DHD's design to be tweaked but not significantly altered. Your suggestions will be very helpful. And, as always, I am very grateful for your news tips. Posting will return to normal on Wednesday.
What To Expect From DHD's Next Phase...

I just wanted to say congratulations! This sounds like a very exciting development.
Keep up the good work. I hope it doesn’t change too much.
Best.
MMC are the same people who are my free email provider, so now it’s like we’re within two degrees of each other.
I hope you don’t cost me too much money. Congrats.
Congrats!
Love you or hate you, you keep us informed. In fact, most of us find out about what’s happening within our own companies and the fate of our jobs through YOU. NOT our employers.
We’re grateful for that and you.
Good luck!
Nikki, you’re not a sell out just yet…
Glad you disabled comments on your posting of the acquisition – a good faith show of dominance over your readers. Hopefully, we can expect to not be able to comment on many more postings to come!
Thanks for all the info thus far.
Sell out. as long as you rock this still and not some douche intern who takes over while you spent ur new coin – you get yours. you’ve given so much. time to take a little.
congrats.
Congratulations Nikki on the deal. I look forward to the new developments on your site!
Relax, Nikk. Nobody is mad. Congrats! You deserve it!
You going with the Bentley or the Maserati?
I for one wish you good luck with this new venture, and I will maintain the high expectations I have for your work.
And it only counts as selling out if you were bought by Sumner Redstone or Harvey Weinstein. And in that case I’d tell you to get your money up front.
Yeah, that’s what they ALL say at first….nothing will change. Soon the new corporate masters will “suggest” a little change here and there and when you don’t do their bidding…..see ya!
Sold. Out.
Nikki: Good Stuff! Keep true to your path. Look forward to your next chapter.
Congrats – you rock, and I hope you get a nice paycheck for it. You deserve it.
So now we get Bi-Costal psuedo-journo musings? Glad those yanks can join in on the anxiety train.
Congratulations! So excited to see the site become stronger and more robust. Oh, and I hope this means you also get a SIGNIFICANT pay-raise.
GOOD LUCK!
Only time will tell but faith is abundant. There is one problem with this release – where do we go for the inside scoop, the story behind the story, and the answer to the question everyone is asking…How much??
Congratulations, we look forward to the next step!
well, if you must change, please try to keep the lo-techness of your site — the best thing besides the content is how bare bones it is and how fast it loads.
Woah. Who said anything about selling out?
As for cashing in… that’s a different story altogether.
Seriously, I pity the fool who’s going to try and tame the Bride of Finkenstein!
Good luck with the new deal.
Sell out.
Congratulations! You deserve it. You’ve created one of the few go-to sites on the web out of whole-cloth and destroyed the competition in the process.
You’ll be great! Hope you made a killing… you deserve it for all your hard work, tireless effort and awesome courage.
Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new endeavor. I’m looking forward to the new DHD!
Nikki, you’re going corporate???
Sellout!!
Just kidding. I enjoy your column and look forward to the upcoming advancements. Thanks!
create a DHD iphone app
thanks
As in all things, Nikki, time will tell how this unfolds.
I wish you continued success and happiness.
Just don’t let it go to your head!
congratulations. been reading for a long time and appreciate the efforts. you deserve to reap the rewards! Look forward to the new site!
SELL OUT
How much $$$?
Nikki,
I wanted to congratulate you on your sale and I do hope that the site will not change at all. I am an avid reader and first time poster and I look forward to see what DHD v2.0 will be all about and if you need a hollywood intern let me know.
Soldja!
And how are you feeling? Or was “ill” a cover for, “Sorry for no posts, I was just going to the bank to deposit my millions”?
: )
First off, congrats on the deal with MMC. I’m looking forward to the bicoastal change, and to the other changes. The only suggestion I have on the design is that the right column is condensed/cleaned up. I’ve never had much luck find anything over there.
Anyway, I look forward to the changes and I trust you aren’t gonna leave any posting on your site to a second-rate, hackneyed reporter, so I have no worries. Once again, major congrats for the deal!
so happy for you Nikki…reads like a great way to better enjoy your product going forward!
Nikki,
If there’s anyone who I believe when they say emphatically that they didn’t sell out it would be you. I’m sure you had several lawyers comb over the contract to make damn good and sure that you retain control editorially and creatively, and have no doubt that you will ride the DHD empire all the way to the stratosphere!
Could DHD become an entertainment business news portal a la The Huffington Post? With guest bloggers and a constantly refreshing homepage?
My one bit of advice: Please be very careful when tweaking the design. Websites throw huge amounts of money away on a re-vamp of the design and usually a) it’s fine the way it is and b) you piss off the folks repsponsible for your success in the first place, i.e. the readers.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
And – as a long-term reader from day-one, CONGRATS!!!
U’re incomparable N! Looking forward to the new era. Just an idea – maybe breaking down your posts into sections: studio, agencies, press, PR, new media, finance; or something like that. Or is that too ‘old media’ for ya?
Now, damn it, Nikki, don’t you remember the saying?
“Be a man. Sell out!”
Nikki,
PLEASE don’t change the format! You are the only site left where you can simply scroll down and read the pieces one by one until you hit the piece you last read. Then you repeat the same action several hours later. (or minutes, depending on how bad of a work day it is…) It’s so simple and effective! All the news sites now have so many different fonts and headlines and screaming titles coming at you from all over every page, it makes me quite depressed. And sad. Please never change!
i trust you nikki. congrats!
What “frustrations”? This was a great site!
Sounds like the end of a good thing — too good — we all knew it couldn’t last.
Congrats. You deserve it and the site deserves it.
Nikki, don’t hurt ‘em when you scoop ‘em, but dear God, leave them something! Good luck on your new venture.
The sale is all well and good but you missed the Moneyball story which was a bit disappointing to be honest. I trust this will not happen again as I don’t want to be getting my breaking news from Variety.
Well Nikki, good luck to you…Frankly, a lot of below-the-line people in the film business based in socal don’t give a rat’s butt about a “New York City based senior journalist”. I can respect someone who honestly brings their bank account to the “next level”. Your choice and right, but don’t try to spin it….we know better…and please don’t ask us to waste time on Broadway crap.
Maybe now you will post comments that are not flattering but legitimately critical… in the past, they mysteriously disappear.
Toldja! When they says it’s not about the money…
Congrats! And if you need a senior Black correspondent in New York (a la, The Daily Show) I’m your guy
)
Cheers!
Congratulations! I’m thrilled that at least one original talent is being recognized and compensated for cutting edge work this summer. You have worked so hard and tirelessly to help all of us make sense of the seismic changes occurring in our business. Thanks, Nikki! Looking forward to visiting daily!
Nicer car or not, you will remain the second website I check every morning right after Google News.
I think its great that you have taken advantage of your success, get it while you can…as long as your editorial POV doesn’t change.
Congrats
Great news, Nikki….Please just continue to “keep it real”…
Congratulations! You’ve definitely become my go-to site when I want the skinny on what really went down and now the sanitized Variety version.
I love to rag on you in comments, but congrats on this Nikke! You deserve it.
Totally stoked for Nikki and don’t believe any of this “sell out” crap. Good for her! HOWEVER…I’d like to know how many of these “posters” are actually employed by the new DHD and required to post. No big deal but sometimes it’s just SOOO obvious!
Good luck fascinating site!
Any deal that allows a writer to get paid for writing is important. And please tell me it includes health insurance. I don’t think a few interns/ employees would hurt the NFDHD operation. For instance, if you’ve been screening the “comments” yourself, no wonder your health is fragile.
I’m also not sure a “New York City based senior journalist” is worth it, either. There’s a lot of production in Canada, would you piss away money on a “Toronto based senior journalist?”
Is anyone really surprised another hollywood person has sold out?? I am not.
Does that mean you will actually start “reporting” and not just printing what various mouthpieces feed you…. Please try to be a little more evenhanded– get quotes from BOTH sides. (i.e. Endeavor/WMA “merger”)
Unbookmarked!
Yeah, Nikki; you just LOOK like a sell out.
Way to go Nikki! Who says it’s wrong to get rich? Nobody was mad at The Jefferson’s for moving on up – and I ain’t mad ya either.
But please don’t go overboard with the “advanced infrastructure”! I read your site cause you got the scoop – not cause of a whole bunch of features that I will never use.
There’s my two-cents (highly overpriced!)Go Nikki!
Nikki, congrats. Sounds like a great move. With more help, you won’t be so worried about the site when you need to be away to take care of yourself. Now take the time to care for yourself. We need you around to keep everyone else in line.
I’d like to see the comment system overhauled. Maybe do a registration system where people have avatars, profiles and their comments appear immediately.
I’ll assume this ownership change won’t reduce your usual bizarrely pro-union slant.
As long as u don’t change your opinion or tone: congratulations!
congratulation
good for you
Any story that starts with the sentence “Know this: I did not sell out.” speaks volumes about the writer.
I never thought I would react with such disappointment. I usually just read but had to respond. My first thought was “sell out”. Maybe not in your head and heart, but over time, as you’re no longer the head honcho, things WILL change, usually not for the better.
I loved the fact that you were free-wheeling and free and answered to no one. No compromise. Now you have been co-opted I’m not so sure.
If you take the money and run that’s great. I would take the money. But to suggest that nothing will change or simply change for the better is just so naive or disingenuous. Bummer. This site no longer belongs to you and that’s what made it so special. It’s just part of another big media conglomerate.
Nikki’s deal: Another story THR & DV didn’t scoop.
Hey Nikki,
Good on you! You built a business and a reputation and you’ve done what every business aspires to; maintaining autonomy while growing further with someone else’s coin.
And if you ever need someone in Vancouver….*wink*
Thanks for the truth. Thanks for Nikki.
Thank you.
I’m kind of hoping that it means we can get a confirmation on a scoop without the “TOLDJA!”
I think it’s great that you are able to monetize the site while there are still companies like MMC that think that anybody except Google can make money on the Web. When the Internet economy finally implodes, buy back your site for $1 and keep on trucking.
I love the quaintness of the current site design, so I hope the layout doesn’t change much, but you should get your new nerdy colleagues to develop a mobile version of DHD, since smartphones are the future.
P.S. I get a little scared when you say you’re sick. Next time just say you’re hiking the Appalachian Trail…
Brilliant news! Congratulations…You’re the best.
Great news! Happy for ya…
In the words of Donna Summers, “She works hard for the money!”
Keep it up, girl.
When redesigning the site, you should call the same firm that designed that awesome WME2 logo. Craptastic!
you seem to be ok with posting all the business deals of other companies out there.. why not post yours? how much?
Congrats, Nikki.
I’m looking forward to the new developments and a site refresh.
Sean
Nikki,
Congratulations. Well-deserved. You provide a vital service to all of us in Hollywood. Hope you are true to your “I’m not selling out” pledge.
One test will be whether you swamp the page with more ads. They’ve already reached an annoying level. A great test of your promise will be whether you’re willing to annoy your readers in exchange for more cash.
Ask the creators of Television Without Pity what “maintaining editorial control” means.
Guar-an-fucking-tee that all of you that write, “sell out” are the very same TV people that wanna write great TV but end up getting some stupid reality thing on the air. Or wanna direct great films but end up taking a gig directing “Bullshit Sequel #24.” All of you are capable (and likely) to cash the check when your name is on the front of it. Nikki sold her site. If in the next few months the posts dwindle, the tips become silly or self-serving, then you can call her a sell out. Until then keep your fucking mouths shut because you don’t know shit.
Congratulations Nikki! This is one of the sites in my daily routine and I’m not even in the business. That’s how good it is – you actually make me care about Hollywood. (Kind of in the same way that I care about a soap opera, but still…)
Total B.S.
You were “ill”? Or you were closing your deal? If a studio did this, you’d be alllll over it. Liar. And way to disable the comments while it was happening.
Welcome to the world of self-serving spin. How soon til those little editorial comments from owners begin to change your own view…? Enjoyed the run, though, I really did. But…
Cash that check fast, because I will no longer read your site with the same sense of ease, knowing it’s not biased or manipulated. Shame.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
If you require comments registration and other stupid unnecessary things (profile, etc) in the name of gathering marketing info, that WILL be the death knell of this site.
It’s the same old story. “Corporate” buy-out kills the goose that laid the golden egg.
Don’t change a thing. Otherwise, it will be a slow death until the next Nikki Finke eclipses this one.
Hooray for you! As to your “pro-union slant” mentioned earlier, I’ve always enjoyed DHD as one of the only news sources in town who is.
The concept of “selling out” is about as mature as a Bronx cheer. Seriously, only people in high school can sell out because that’s the last time in life that term has any meaning. The rest of us adults call it “making a living.”
People can use the term “sell out” all they want. You created something very unique with thousands of followers, and you deserve to be rewarded. People love to hate. I for one say, good for you. Congrats, well deserved. Just don’t leave us!!!
Hard to believe the ratio of ra-ra comments so greatly outnumbers the sell-out comments.
Thus the new corporate agenda of this site commences.
What rich punctuation to all the recent postings about corporate dominance.
Hope the new employer gives you health insurance…
$15 million is a nice round figure. Congrats! Just don’t let Obama or Arnold hear about it.
Nikki, please, you just lost some credibility claiming that was not a sell out, but I still love your reporting.
As for some of the SOLDJA TOLDJA comments…hilarious.
Good move…I thought years ago when I was reading your LA Weekly column that you would make a great blogger, and I assume you want control of your brand. Cashing out on some sweat equity this way is a great idea. I look forward to the next evolution.
So when do you open the midwest outlet?
Secondly are you coming to the Detroit/Penske Grand Prix next year?
Do you get a free Saturn now?
You sold, your not out, yet?
Secondly, will you cover sports now, like baseball.
Can we buy shares in your company?
Why Penske instead of the Hollywood Reporter or Variety?
Finally do you have to get 10k hits to earn ten dollars like those other sites?
So you have been *ill* quite a bit lately, glad to see your meds have kicked in!! Just kidding!!
Please do not allow them to control you Nikki…
Your site is a must for all of us who work in the scary entertaiment biz…
As we watch it swallow itself whole..we need you to explain why.
best to you!
deadlinehollywooddaily.com is the new jumptheshark.com
Go for it Nikki…
I am glad you have been posting more comments that are not of the MF Cultees
Keep it up…give equal time to BOTH SIDES…because
That is the mark of a true jouralist
Congratulations and I hope this is a really good deal for you…well deserve
Pauly
Sell out. Big surprise. Everyone succumbs to money… Disgrace.
Nikki,
I hope you read your contract carefully.
Otherwise, CONGRATS!!!
Say goodbye to the “truth” and say hello to agendas
Congratulations. Had a feeling it was coming.
How soon before we can expect you to compromise?
So if the dissenters on this site got offered a lucrative sum of money that would increase the quality of a website they operated, took some of the tireless effort out of the process, and opened up new opportunities they would have all turned it down for the sake of being loyal to a fan base that loves you one second and hates you the next? I bet you guys do well in business. I forgot you have to be poor to have journalistic integrity.
Jeff Zucker must now be plotting a way for NBC Universal to acquire MMC so you will have to put a positive spin on all NBC programming related stories. (”Nikki Finke Predicts NBC Ratings Leader for 2009-10 Season!”)
Good luck with the new venture. Your column is a daily “must read.” Hope it remains meddle-proof.
what’s happening on the east coast that we really need to hear about?
So, now instead of constantly whining that you “don’t do geek”, will you just hire someone to do it for you?
hard work pays off. and should be rewarded.
but that press release is not a good omen about the kind of ‘news’ we’ll be getting from Mail.DHD…. talk about hyperbole, it reads like time warner just merged with viacom
Congratulations Nikki! Hard work and talent actually still does work huh?
I really enjoy the site and expect bigger and better things…and PLEASE do not change
If it makes it easier for you to keep up with the happenings of hollywood (lower-case H intended), then I say I’m all for it.
But what do I know?
and one more thing nikki…tell the haters to go FUCK THEMSELVES!
Congratulations! Stay lean and mean and SAVE the money.
hate to say it–but the fact you feel you need to say you didn’t sell out…well there it is.
Good for you Nikki. Best wishes!
You sold out. Don’t try to hide from the obvious. That does not mean the site will start to suck, though. I will continue to read it as long as the quality stays up, which is possible.
But you still sold out. At least be honest.
Hey Nikki:
This is your brass ring. Grab it. No worries about you making nice.
That MMC logo is worse than WME2. Looks like someone made it on a commodore 64. Hope I don’t have to look at it on every posting.
Amazing the number of sour grapes posters here. WTF? If it had been one of THEM they’d be crowing like they just got off the fucking chicken.
Folks grow the fuck up. If you think Nikki’s a sell out then go write your own blog. Then you could spend all day pissing and moaning about how every body sells out (’cept you of course) and give it a rest here.
If I ever came on here and saw just positive comments I’d swear the fucking sidewalk must have opened up and swallowed a good portion of Hollywood.
What a bunch of whiny babies.
I particularly cannot understand the posts that mention the money as if it something disgusting and dirty. Sorry, I have to disagree. Money is not dirty – money means food on the table, paying your bills and keeping a roof over your head. So why get upset about Nikki making money off this. Just don’t get that concept that money is bad. I think envy is worse.
Good luck to you Nikki.
MMC BOUGHT NIKKI’S FINKE’S THING.
A DEAL THAT JUST SCREAMS KA-CHING!
SOME THINK SHE HAS SOLD OUT.
BUT HER INTEGRITY WILL HOLD OUT.
SO HAIL THE NEW DIGITAL QUEEN!
Congrats, Nikki.
You’re not a sell out you’re just smart – why shouldn’t you get cash influx from your work?
A “sell out” isn’t someone who turns an idea into a cash source, a “sell out” is someone who forsakes individual opinion for editorial whitewashing.
I suspect that those complaining that you’re a “sell out” are those who googled “twilight” a few months ago and wandered on to your blog.
For those of us who have known, loved (or distinctively NOT loved), and had contact with you over the past many years, we all know that you have, in the past, had very commercial journalistic relationships in which not only did you never back down but you not only lost jobs but never blinked over an onslaught of fist shaking negativity.
Good job on cashing in – you deserve it…and no doubt if your “bosses” inappropriately push back you’ll just walk and shrug off the fall out as you’ve done numerous times over a couple of decades.
Just as long as the TOLDJA’s remain part of the site, then I’ll be happy.
Well, try hiring a real designer and a real WordPress developer.
Great news Nikki!
We know you earned it.
Can’t wait to see the new site.
I am,
The Hollywood Republican
Nikki baby-
Can’t believe no one has made the connection…
Jay Penske should thank his lucky stars that you came along for him…you may be able to help him grow a pair. Nice guy, but he isn’t made of the same stuff as his old man Roger Penske, aka American racing legend and entrepreneur extraordinaire. The guy runs such a tight ship you can eat off the floor of his racing garages. His sponsor patches are meticulously sewn on to every uniform, not ironed on. Oh, and he wins races and sells a few vehicles. Around the world. So what if his drivers are loose w/ the IRS.
As for his coddled progeny, he’s a great antique bookseller. He runs a poor man’s Yahoo that’ll never be much. The fact that he wrote you such a big check must be some kind of penance (not your religion but you get the drift).
And I absolutely congratulate you for doing it for the money! Seriously, what’s the matter w/ having the narcissists’ favorite daily read, and making some money off it? Better than these bone-headed “journalists” complaining that there are no more help wanted ads to fund their boring opinion pieces. You are the future pulse of our business, and now you are really financially free to not give a shit what these overpaid agents and execs think about you! Thank God we’ll never have to go back to the days of Variety staff peddling bad scripts and sucking up for studio ad pages.
Last word: Peter Levin = Master Opportunist who knows how to spot, create, and monetize value where others do not. Mazel Tov baby. And no this is not writtten by him or for him. The haters need to chill; Nikki and Peter have earned our momentary atttention and adulation.
Don’t see why anyone should be upset that a talented person profited from hard work. Hands-down, Nikki’s the best reporter in the movie business.
Good luck !
Dear Nikki,
First, congratulations to you. I don’t know anyone who, if they had your hits and following, wouldn’t take it to the next level. Good for you and I wish you the best and will continue to read.
Full disclosure: you wrote about my employer, a huge brand, and it would suck when we, the worker bees, were trashed along with the management in your stories. You weren’t specifically cruel, but your brush was wide sometimes. It could be hard to rise above the defeated morale of a particular posting of yours that was correct in intention but perhaps skewed by a source (and it happens, no biggie) or past slights. Still, I know you made one of my bosses cry from a post and that awesome. When you stuck it to the management and not the real talent, it was the best and put them on their pees and cues, literally.
When I was cut from my company, your reporting on it with my name in the story helped trigger an outpouring of support and kindness from my peers, who read about it on your site, that I’ll never forget. My voicemail and e-mail were full many times over. For that kindness in your reporting, without any snark or agenda, I will always appreciate you for. For those who get pissed with you: it’s Hollywood and six figure salaries for all manner of fuckery and sociopathic behavior oughta make the skin tougher, so if you call them out on their creme de la BS then tough biscuits!
Good luck with the new venture and thanks for your work and letting the smarter journos know that online is profitable and you can have a unigue voice without being a bloated puff of stale effort. Good luck and great things!- A Changed Industryite
Great news. Many congratulations.
I hope the NY reporter meets up to the standard you’ve set.
Now, if you can tell the people an MMC to make a version of DHD that works on mobile phones (Symbian 60, preferably), it’ll be perfect.
Every person here who left a comment would love to be in a position to sell out. I’d sell out and then “get out”! No doubt Nikki would too: the reason for a tightly structured step-deal on the money. My guess it’s a Jag, BMW or Benz for the next two years… and a lot of hard work to justify the deal.
They say beware what you wish for… now Nikki will have number-crunchers to answer to and possibly have to be far more accountable for libelous and/or slanderous postings.
This said… we’d all still sell out, just the smart ones would take the money and ruuuuuuun.

Not just TWP, but afterellen.com as well (Logo bought them).
Nikki,
Please defend your independent ways with the ferocity of a Mother lion protecting her cub. We need you and the industry needs you. If it’s to survive the current state of affairs, we need a champion of truth and you’ve been it for so many of us.
Also, regarding knowing what’s going on in other markets, people in LA need to get their heads out of their butts. I make a point of reading articles about any major city’s industry that I can find. Understanding the breadth of the business maks you more appealing to work with. New York, Toronto, Vancouver, London; they are all important film and television cities. You need to know who’s buying, who’s dealing, who’s filming and who’s supporting projects. Nikki expanding is a good thing for all of us.
Congrats, this is a positive development as the strains of running a one-person, 24/7 site have shown since you started. Suggest you consider:
– a small staff of likeminded, no BS, insiders to supplement your work, so you can stop writing all those apology posts that provide too much information (any info is too much; love reading your work but don’t need to know bout your personal life or health).
– better archiving / tagging / grouping etc of old posts — there’s often Hwood gold with great insights into the Business and relationships and how things work in there, but once it’s a few weeks old, it’s hard to reach.
– hire someone to stop you from putting up all those insanely long posts about Hwood union goings-on. Those posts are flyover country for me and anyone else not trying to revive Lenin’s body.
Generally, this site is great and I just want MORE MORE MORE.
Penske — Sucker
Sell out.
What’s it like to be everything you hate (or say you hate anyway)?
Good point on some posts here.
Nikki should mention the $$$ since she does that with all of the other postings. Do unto others here.
Congratulations Nikki!
Looking forward to the same great forum for union issues, especially coming up on what looks to be a very important 2011.
Congratulations, Nikki. My only suggestion would be to make it so that comments are constantly updated. Sometimes it takes hours. And to be honest, reading some of the back-and-forths (although not as informative) is quite entertaining.
Congratulations, Nikki. I’m not even in the industry and your site is on my first-cup-of-tea blogroll.
Keep up the great work. Here’s hoping that the new site will give a cleaner, more streamlined look to your perennially relevant coverage, and that your new NY correspondent will only strengthen your exceptional reporting standards.
Best wishes from the funnybook biz.
Comment by if it ain’t broke — June 23, 2009:
“well, if you must change, please try to keep the lo-techness of your site — the best thing besides the content is how bare bones it is and how fast it loads.”
I couldn’t agree more.
And, Nikki, if MMC requires user profiles, you’re gonna lose a lot of comments.
One suggestion:
Condense the archives on the right column to a nest style by year, so that when you click it, the months become available. You could leave each month for the current year readily available.
>>>Know this: I did not sell out.
From anyone else, Nikki, those words would be laughable.
Congratulations on your deal and I look forward to DHD: The Next Level. Good luck.
Rock on, Finke. Rock on.
Nikki,
Pleassssssssssssssseeeeeeeee promise me one thing: that after your move, you will continue to BUST THEIR BALLS EVERY DAY AND HIT THEM BELOW THE BELT, WHERE THESE BASTARDS & BITCHES DESERVE IT. I want you to continue to ride roughshod over their bodies, rip them up, expose every damn scandal and bit of corruption that these assholes pull, like Jon Peters, Silverman, Rothman – including the dickheads that run Endeavor (or whatever they passed off as a registered name … they didn’t merge with Morris, they ate it whole & spit out the human pieces).
THEY DESERVE YOU – AND YOU ARE THE ONLY JOURNALIST OF OUR TIME TO STAND UP AND SHOW THESE MONSTERS FOR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE.
We depend upon you for the ungarbled truth. Keep it up! You really DO make a difference in this town. Bless you and may you live (and write) for a hundred years . . . and continue to put the fear of god (and exposure) into these idiots who run the studios.
Nikki, a serious word of advice:
As you expand your operation – watch who you hire, secretary, assistant, etc. AND especially if you ever use interns. Monitor everyone who can look at work or your sources. Or go inside your office.
Do extensive background checks. At least once a year on your new crew.
There are a lot of monster CEOS, studio lawyers & black-tower suits who would LOVE to get a spy into your employ & bug your office. Remember Pellicano? There’s a lot more from where he came from.
You better have the biggest, meanest, motherfucking firewall on your computer. And scan it regularly for viral trackers of your key strokes. Be paranoid. It’s a good way to go.
There’s a line of folks going out the door & around the block who’d love to have your head on a pike, including the Harvey & Bob, Iger, Horn, Grey, Redstone, the PGA, as well as the bum half of westcoast SAG, the NY Board of SAG, etc. By god, you’re a popular girl.
You’re a treasure of truth in our business. FOR GOD SAKES, BE CAREFUL, DAMMIT!
i don’t think anyone should worry about nikki changing her way of writing. after all, it’s her aggressive style that has made her what she is today and that’s why mmc bought the site. if mmc was to interfere and make her into some kind of corporate lapdog then they wouldn’t make any money off of the deal because she would loose credibility and no one would pay attention to what she’s doing.
trust me, mmc wants nikki to stay the course just as much as everyone else
