EXCLUSIVE: Fandango, one of the Internet's biggest movie ticketsellers, is currently polling moviegoers interested in seeing W, the new Oliver Stone biopic about George W. Bush opening this Friday. Here are a few preliminary results based on nearly 2,000 respondents who answered its survey from Friday through 2:30 pm today:
57% are male
58% are ages 25-49
66% say they want to see W because of its controversy surrounding the film
34% say they voted for George W. Bush in a previous election
27% say they will vote for McCain
53% say they will vote for Obama
80% have seen at least one of Oliver Stone’s previous movies

I’m glad Fandango did this survey, but I’m pretty sure that -unfortunately- we are still very far from knowing what does Average American think about ‘W’. (Maybe a survey at Wal-Mart, anybody?)
fuck Oliver Stone and fuck “W.” i am insulted that Oliver Stone think that the whole 8 years of the Bush administration is funny, because there is NOTHING funny about thousands of American soldiers, Iraqis, and Afghans dying in the name of oil, greed, and capitalism!
the fact that people don’t take Bush seriously is what bothers me so much. He LIED and nobody has bothered to impeach him, but we impeached Clinton for a blowjob!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
Oh great. A new source of faulty debate material for the MTV generation.
I like Bush, but going to see because I’m assuming it’ll be more like a SNL skit..should be good for some laughs.
Why doesn’t Oliver Stone do a movie that about a true former President that would be full of all kinds of salacious stuff — the Bill Clinton Story. Do you think Stone would have the nerve to do that as long as Clinton is alive? He is quite comfortable taking shots at conservatives, but i doubt if Stone would take on the Clintons.
Everyone loves a train wreck…they want to see Bush get lambasted to make themselves feel better and Oliver Stone is as good at bashing as anyone.
Why does Hollywood continue to think they need to get involved in politics by producing mocumentaries
Just goes to show that controversy sells. I was so disappointed with Oliver’s attempt at JFK. Why not come right out and expose some of the players that he uncovered in his research? Why did he have to hide desktop name plates behind plants and shrubs in the office scenes of the movie? Too afraid to tell it like it was? I am so sure Oliver will be as fair and even in his potrayal of an unpopular sitting president.
Can’t wait for Friday and can’t wait to buy the DVD! Thanks George for screwing something else up. Everything you have touched has turned to crap! Fool!
You missed a metric. 85% should have their heads examined for actually wanting to waste 2 hours watching the drug-soaked products of Oliver Stoned
Yet ANOTHER pile of limo liberal sh*t I’ll avoid. Oliver Stone’s lips are firmly planted on Castro’s a**.
I would watch this film if someone paid me $1000 to enter the theatre and there was an option to walk out after the first 5 minutes. Is this movie really necessary? I am tired of the reality show version, so why should I pay for a fictional account directed by someone that has not tried to hide his true feelings about the subject? Maybe in 20 years, when my memory is fading and I want to relive the Bush hatred of the 2000’s.
100% say this movie will do NOTHING to tilt the election towards Obama’s favor since everyone who goes to see it has already made up his or her mind.
BTW, does anyone think it would be ok for someone to, say, make a movie about Obama and release it right before the election at the end of his first term should he become president? Unless it wasn’t completely gushing over him and praising him, I doubt it would ever stand a chance of being released.
As a native Texan, I am offended at the caricature acting I have seen in the previews to this film. Love the Talking Heads song, but the promos probably showed all the “good” lines and action. The actors all said they weren’t trying to play caricatures–my a$$!
Who Wants To See Oliver Stone’s ‘W’?
No one I know…
If I want to see Bush bashing, I can watch MSNBC for free.
I am not and I bet most people will not pay money to see this Stone film. Why? Because , it is old news and should be available for free on the Obama web site as a campaign ad. I am sure it over plays the bad and plays down any good and has a predicable outcome. The image that has been painted for the past 8 years by the Democrats and others is what you will PAY to see. Boring.
Maybe Stone can actually make an entertaining movie one day that is a pleasure to watch or does he know how?
Oliver Stone is a traitor and should just move to one of his Utopian nations, for example, Cuba is just a short flight away. Europe becomes him..WHY does he stay here in America??!!!
and we should care about this why? Everyone knows who and what Oliver Stone is and with money tight these days who would want to waste their money on a left wing slanted Bush hit piece they can actually see a good movie about some funny little dogs?
Totally tastesless to show a movie about a current president. I wonder if Hollywood would have given us a Clinton/Lewinski movie during his presidency. This is unacceptable and I will boycott every single Oliver Stone film from now on.
82% say they are dumb asses
Sheep.
All 10 of them?
‘W’has to be better than the 2008 sequel ‘WTF?’
Yes but what is the interest level?
When is Mr. Stone’s movie about Bill Clinton’s adultery, perjury, lies, sex scandal, resulting legal wranglings and disbarment coming out? Oh that’s right – everything about Clinton was true. Where’s the controversy in that?
I want to see the movie for several reasons. it looks like its going to be a funny movie and it’s always good to kind of pull back the curtain and get an idea of what’s really going on, whether good or bad. Plus, although JFK missed the mark, I do like a lot of Oliver Stone movies. Ignore the liberal/conservative rigmarole and just watch the movie for its own sake and enjoy it.
They better get the people in to see “W” immediately because he’s going to be out of office and into history and then who’s going to care. It’s yesterdays news.
I’ve never really watched much O. Stone, but this is something I want to check out.
I’ll wait until a friend gets it via Netflix – I certainly wouldn’t PAY to watch the painful experience that is any Josh Brolin movie…
This movie will be a piece of shit just like the rest of Oliver Stone’s fims.
NO ONE
yeah I just love movies that get blown away by the pre-screen trailers.
boooo
hisssssss
boorrrrring
I wnat to see it because he’s a dirty wanker and I want to see him look bad. I hate GW’s Presidency and I want a good laugh at his expense. Dirty Wanker, sod off, what.
I predict Oliver Stone will spend more money advertising this trash than he will make. However, he did not make this for profit. He made it because he is a blinded by his hatred for Bush.
Piece of garbage movie by a piece of garbage director who like all of Hollywood..supports… along with Oprah…their man Obama.
I could care less about this movie. However, I might have cared more if Good ol’ Ollie had made a better choice in an actor that LOOKED LIKE W. Good Lord! Pics from the trailer have done nothing for me at all.
Go ahead and see it folks. Support bad casting and bad movie choices in general.
Nothing like a pol to find your audience. Hopefully the script and the acting are worth wasting the 10.50/ticket. What the heck they may even get the facts right – though doubtful.
This should be about as fun as an awl gore or michael more film.
99% have first name of Oliver
99% have last name of Stone
99% have directed a movie
99% are extreme liberals
99% are trying to make a cheap buck during an election cycle on ‘controversy’
What a joke…. Oliver Stone showing the real thing. I don’t think anyone realizes how far left this guy is….
I’ll go see it if and only if someone can promise me that the private conversations in the film weren’t just invented for dramatic effect.
Who cares? The movie gets mixed reviews and the poll notwithstanding, this turkey is done before opening.
movie is going to be good. i hope it doesnt make bush into something he wasnt though. it needs to be true to the core.
There are things Known and There are things unknown. And in between are THE DOORS.
Sounds like a flop to me.
I believe in free speech so I have to accept the fact that Stone has the right to make such trash, but I hope he looses his shirt financially on this despicable film.
Where was this eruditious masterpiece four years ago, when it could have done some good? Thanks Oliver, but I’m afraid it’s too late. Now scholars and historians have W’s lagacy in their hands, instead of network news nit wits and Hollywood kooks who failed us when we needed them most.
A movie courtesy of the great American who lauds Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. Please stick your movie where the sun doesn’t shine, Mr. Stone.
I don’t need to pay to watch left wing biased entertainment, I can just turn on NBC for free.
everyone who voted for GB should be made to watch it
total propaganda. Bush is the worst president in the history of America; but I would not watch this garbage. Just the facts, please.
If you want to see the film but refuse to contribute to Stone or the other liberals in the film, buy a ticket to another film that is non-political and walk into W. Call it a “quiet protest”.
Thank gosh for Oliver Stone. In ‘04 we had the other idiot Michael Moore who may have single handedly gotten W elected. (Him along with Letterman, Stern, Streisand, Sarandon/Robbins, ad nauseum)
You go Ollie baby!
and please take Sean Penn with you.
I’ll be there Friday afternoon.Oliver Stone makes great movies. The are called contraversial only because he tells the truth and isn’t afraid to do so.JFK is a great film, people that still believe the official lies called The Warren Report are the same people that believe that 9/11 was caused by a dozen Saudie with box cutters.LoL.
W. looks pretty funny.A good back comedy about an idiot that had no business as dog catcher, let alone POTUS. The coporations and the pentagon wanted a stooge and they got him much to the countries detriment.
Most of these comments stem from ignorance. I have seen a few interviews of Oliver Stone regarding this movie, and he seems to play it straight. I believe he said that he thought that Bush was one of the greatest presidents ever.
The guy playing Bush looks and acts more like the SNL version then the real person. One of the worst comic renditions of a politician in my opinion.
This looks like a really cool movie. G. W. Bush is a terrible President, probably one of the worst in history. This movie should have come out before the last election because then it could have actually changed something. I hope all of you can view it without the red-tinged opinion lenses and maybe it will change your mind about this man and his legacy.
They didn’t make a movie about lewinsky because it was boring – he received oral sex – who cares. Bush started a war that has killed hundreds of thousands of people. Are these equivalent acts? I think not.
I CAN’T WAIT TO LAUGH EVEN HARDER AT BUSH!
All I know it that the song used in the trailers “once in a lifetime” by the Talking Heads is probabley the only enjoyable part of this movie. Everyone knows Dick Cheney has been president for 8 years and not that bad of one at that. So see for the whole week it lasts in theaters or buy it in the bargain bin at wal-mart in 6 months.
It’s really amazing to see how many fans Bush still has
considering that he’s almost brought down the financial
markets to its knees single handed!
….and before this crisis. We aren’t entirely out of the woods with Iraq……and he was beating the war drum with Iran….and North Korea. The same people would consider him a nice enough fellow to drink a beer with.
I’d be willing to bet that if he was allowed
a third term…….he’d get re-elected……
No surprise here. Hollywood hates America and loves to show it.
Heck at least a Clinton/ Lewinsky movie might be more interesting. LOL
Let’s face it, Oliver Stone hasn’t put out a movie worth watching since Platoon. I expect this will bomb just as badly as his film Nixon did. Maybe it should go straight to DVD so all those liberal zombies can own a copy and cherish it forever.
Oliver Stone sits back and knows that he can continue to sell crap to idiots and they will keep coming back for more…..What a country!
Trailer looks more like an SNL hit piece. It will probably amuse the lunatic left and make them feel superior like Michael Moore’s movie did.
Stone is not obligated to make films about both sides of the political debate. Neutrality is for respectable journalists.
And regarding “W”….. “yawn”
I predict it will make as much money as “Body of Lies”.
No one will go see this. I myself was going to try to SEE body of lies TODAY just for the acting but I got to the theater and it has vanished ALREADY. I am not joking. This movie will be the next “Redacted” and according to Rotten Tomatoes, less than 4000 people saw that movie.
No, I will not go to the theater to see such fictional trash. I will not rent this trash either. Oliver Stone
is laughable.
Just goes to show that Hollywood is definitely full of liberal morons who like to make up movies to make others look bad to make themselves feel superior. No respect for our President (whether you like him or not) and it is disrespectful–to say the least. I hope it bombs so bad. Oliver Stone is a hack and always has been. Just another crock of crap from the looney tunes in Hollywood…
I can’t wait to see it! Maybe there will be one small tidbit in the film that will make me finally like the guy.
90+ days and counting……………..
I can only thank God that in a few months there won’t be anymore blaming-accusing-mocking-ridiculing of Bush. Guess the Dems will have to come up without another gameplan to blame the ills of the world.
It should open in Nov. 4, and play continously through the entire day. Let all the crazies go see it, maybe they’ll forget what else happens that day.
No wonder the other countries hate us. It all started with Bill Clinton. He himself disrespected the office of President and ever since, our country has trashed Clinton, then President Bush. We have NO respect for our leaders, the media is running our country, and we will continue to trash our leaders. Respect has gone out the window and civility will never return in my life time.
My problem with any Oliver Stone or any Hollywood movie based on truth is they make the movie more interesting by adding things that are in fact not true. I don’t know if that will be the case in “W”, but unfortunately when young people watched JFK, like myself, we thought it was all true, conspiracies and all. Took a few years for me to come to my senses. Oliver Stone has made a movie that I only hope tells Bush’s story that we know and not fill in the blanks with behind the scenes dialog and creating fictional characters like he did in JFK.
Some of the audience will be traditional Republican voters like myself who believe W’s performance in office has done more to damage the Republican Party than any president since Hoover. He has made the word Republican a synonym for Stupid, and I, for one, resent it.
I find it hard to believe that there are 2,000 people in the entire U.S. willing to subject themselves to this poorly-acted yawnfest. Brolin as W? Couldn’t Stone at least find someone with a shred of talent? The guy’s best work was in The Goonies! Toss in the guy from Close Encounters as the Vice President, and it’s basically a duo whose best work was back in the 80’s (and no, Mr. Holland’s Opus was not a good movie).
3 Questions:
Why would those who hate Bush pay to see someone play him? Why would anyone who loves Bush pay to see a liberal interpretation of him? And, why would anyone who doesn’t care either way suddenly start caring enough to buy a ticket?
So much hatred for a movie none of you have seen. Clinton? Really?Grow up. Clinton screwed the pooch so bush should get a free pass? Think once in a while it will do you good.
I would not go see this trash if the tickets were free.
I’ve seen better youtube videos, yet it will be nominated for at least 10 oscars.
Yippee another Hollywierd loser beating up on Bush.
So let’s say Bush never went to Iraq, and just how would the world today be any better?
What a tool Stone has become. Who wants to go see this crap?
no, I will no give a cent to a filmmaker is propagandist for the left
This movie looks like a bad joke – easy to tell it’s a parody resulting from Stone’s fantasy world and hatred of Bush. What a waste of time.
A movie on Clinton’s presidency could have been really funny and interesting, given the material a director/writer has to work with. Now that’s a movie I’d pay to see.
Someone should make a movie about what a s**thead Oliver Stone is… a biography maybe. Now THAT would be fun to see!
It’s a sure thing that the liberal left will hail this as an important film, and take everything that O. Stone puts into it as fact.
I wish the Hollywood elite would get off their holier than thou ladder and start using their brains every now and then.
I think there’s a huge backlash about to come around for Hollywood.
Tony I think that number should be closer to 98% are stupid
Another “Hollywood hates Bush” film. Blah Blah Blah.
I’ll bet my next paycheck that Stone didn’t interview anyone in the Bush administration before he made this film. Any takers?
I will rent it when it comes out on video only because I am and always have been loyal to my president who I happen to believe has done a wonderful job as president (as history will show regardless of what the liberal ass media has to say and all the people on the anti-bush bandwagon). I want to see the portrayal that Oliver Stone makes about him out of curiosity. All the problems we face today (including the war) were festering during Clinton’s presidency. They came to HEAD “literally” because of Clinton’s oval office shenanigans. Thanks to him, Bush is made out to be this awful president. Time will show otherwise.
I do not know what you people are talking about. There were a bunch of films mocking Clinton while he was in office. Primary Colors??
Oliver Stone’s films are usually brilliant, but after watching ‘Dubya’ ruin this country for the past eight years, I’m not sure I’m willing to shell out $12 to re-live it. Unfortunately, the people who need to see it(mindless conservatives)…won’t.
I think that I don’t want to see it, period. Hollywood has made me just about sick to my stomach. I really do despise just about anything about them at all. Oliver Stone could put the best movie out about anything and I would not give you 2 cents to see it. Much less him reviling the leader of the U.S.A. I hope that his whole empire rots. No joke! I hate to say bad things about people, but for another person to not be upholding a leader of his people, well, what can I say?
To Mike: Oliver Stone has the right to make movies about whoever/whatever he chooses—Remember? We live in a country in which the buyers market determines what movies get made and distributed. And, the movie-goers determine which movies earn money…Apparently, Oliver Stone movies have made a lot of money! So, you need to get some conservative-leaning director interested in making a movie about Bill Clinton. We’ll see if that director can make a really good bio-pic that makes a lot of money…However, I wouldn’t get your hopes up because it might tank at the box office like “American Carol”…
HAHAHAHAaaa!!! Get over it, girls — you lost 2 elections because you had WORSE candidates than George W. Bush!!! No one but a hate-filled old hippie will watch this garbage. Oliver Stone is a has-been. HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!
another great propagandist movie by the worthless filmmaker Stone. Still waiting for the movie on Clinton. he should be just sent to gitmo for crimes against humanity—that is, anyone that has to see the previews for his horse-shit.
if you are for bush or against bush, for obama or mccain or barr or nader or whomever, Oliver Stone is a propagandist and is anti-American. DO NOT GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
Let’s keep this in mind: Stone is absolutely, 100%, one-in-the-same as that lame bunch of “Stoners” at SNL (Chevy Chase, Ackroyd, Murray, Franken, Fey, Newman, Newman (and “Newman”) and their peerless leader, Michaels. They need to keep their heads and noses buried in their cocaine bowls along with their candidate, Mr. “B.O.” Obama (stinky plane, stinky plane) and leave the politics to the more sober, and less dopey, and not nearly as stinky as their dopey pal Jim Morrison (what, do they just like living in their own filth?). What a bunch of maroons.
uh….. primary colors
This is a bad movie. It’s poorly written with sub-par performances. It’s a film that was written and shot to quickly and just doesn’t work. It’s uninteresting. It adds nothing to the national conversation or the historical record. Someday a better story about the Bush presidency will be told. Oliver Stones first take rush job will be quickly forgotten.
LOL. I’m glad that so many people have seen this movie, enough to already provide reviews on it.
It’s sad that so many people are so insecure about their own platform that they have to attack anything, including a hollywood movie, that might threaten their position.
I guess that all of that insecurity is going to come out now more than ever, when so many in the middle class have been screwed over by the upper class/elite loving policies of the last 8 years.
I can watch George W. Bush be a moron for free on CNN daily.
Where is the mention that this was half funded by the CHINESE? Oh, that is right, the liberal media is ill informed again.
LOL
People who pay money to see this flick are the kids who feel asleep in history classes in high school.
Oliver Stone should enroll in Western Civilization and US History classes at his local community college before he makes up another story about what really happens in the world. How much pot do you have to smoke to think of things like he put in his JFK fantasy film?
Oliver Stone is a loser trying to interfere in the election with a stupid snl comedy of lies. He is also a coke addict, I know because I partied with him in Southbeach a few years ago. He is a degenerate.
Oliver Stone Movies.
Not that I am averse to wasting $8 US dollars, which don’t buy as much as they used to, but wasting 90-120 minute of my life while putting $8 in the pockets of a complete liar is just too much. Michael Moore can make BS and turn a proffit b/c he has no production costs. Olie’s gonna lose money and it serves him right. Self righteous self serving prick.
Well, you can tell when Drudge linked to this– I like how all of the responses came within a ten minute period.
I’ll be seeing it.
And you Drudge fans, you can rush out and see AMERICAN CAROL. Oh, my bad, it’ll be gone by Friday.
I heard this movie was financed by China, WTF??? How can people pay for enemy propaganda like this. Idiots.
Oliver stone is like most of his hollywood cronies… Long on hatred and short on substance. I am not a Bush fan, but the hollywoodites have shown so little class this political season, it makes Bush look good.
Sounds like a blockbuster come Oscar time.
Oliver stone is just a slightly smarter version of Michael Moore. At least he knows his movies are fictional. Oh and for the record,RamboRick, Bush isn’t running this year (he can’t).
I go to watch O Stone movies when I need a head ache. It works every time.
Another hollywood lib attempting to slander a conservitive. I have zero respect for Stone and would not watch this moovie or anything the pig Stone produces in the future. What really sad is he thinks the moovie is balanced. If you don’t respect Bush at least he could respect the office of the Presideny of the United States of Ameria. What happen to partiotizm???
Wouldn’t waste a penny on this piece of garbage. It’s funny, though. W is out. Soon to come is a pic about Nixon and Harvey Milk. I just bet they will bring in the bucks for whomever. I lie. Garbage.
JUST LIKE ALL OF STONES MOVIES , GARBAGE IN ,GARBAGE OUT.INSTEAD OF TRYING TO MAKE MOVIES THAT STAND THE TEST OF TIME,TO BE ENJOYED BY GENERATIONS,LIKE SPIELBERG,STONE ALWAYS TRIES TO RAM HIS REVISIONIST HISTORY DOWN OUR THROATS.IT IS TRULY SAD BECAUSE STONE HAS THE MEANS AND THE TALENT TO MAKE GOOD MOVIES,BUT BECAUSE OF HIS WEAKNESS TO KEEP HIS PERSONAL FEELINGS SEPARATED FROM HIS MOVIES .THOSE SAME MOVIES WILL
BE LONG FORGOTEN AND RELEGATED TO THE ASH HEAP OF TIME.
Stone makes fantasy movies and pretends they are real. They appeal to fools so ignorant that they actually believe his BS. The one good thing about it is that his movies are money losers because most Americans are too bright to go. You can fool some of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. Stone’s natural constitutency is the people who can be fooled all of the time.
No one who is religious or conservative, or patriotic should see this movie. Let’s make it a point not to.
Another unwatchable piece of fiction from Oliver Stone. JFK, Nixon, and now W. It’s amazing he can get funding to make these dogs. My bet it’s out on DVD before Thanksgiving.
I saw the trailer. This is NOT entertainment. Stone may have done some worthwhile efforts in the past, this one bites.
Better title: “Crap Fiction”
Interesting how so many of you know that it is a bad film and feel that people are “dumb asses” for wanting to see it. It seems that since you are basing your opinion on 0% fact and repeating a certain “party line” it would be more appropriate for some of you to look in the mirror to identify the sheep-like behavior.
Yes, there was a Clinton/Lewinsky movie. It was called Wag the Dog. You know, the movie where the president starts a fake war to cover up his affair with an underage girl wearing a beanie? It came out while Bill was still the sitting president. (Yes, even before he was impeached.)
Ollie’s recent movies have SUCKED, this one will be NO different… Dumb-ass liberals PRETENDING to be truthful…
I have an idea, how about we make a factual movie for once. No conspiracies.
Stone even admits that Bush was very secret, so he admits that he’s just guessing.
He’ll win his Oscar, nevertheless.
I want to see a movie about the worst president in the history of the United States.
I’m going to see it and taking everybody I know even if I have to pay their way. I think everybody needs to know the truth of what George W is really like before the elections. Maybe we’ll have a family reunion and all go see it too, because we have a really large family.
Oliver Stone is just “LLL”-Left Leaning Loon, who is doing HIS part to influence the election. Too bad he didn’t do any Clintoon Films who made a “Monica” famous, and the school kids now refer to “getting a Monica”….Nice, huh? Leftie/Loon Stone is stoned most of the time, so when he sobers up, he continues his hatred of anything Conservative–especially Bush?!
I wouldn’t see this trash for free. Again, it’s another hater, Barbra Streisands’s son in law, Brolin
who add their bit to the Messiah- Obama. That’s the real movie Stone should do,the Socialist, Liar Obama.
Who would give their hard earned money to Hollywood millionaires instead of saving for their retirement? Not me.
Absolutely terrible! I cannot believe that such a disrespectful film is being made. Regardless of political agenda, to make a mockery of the presidency instead of a symbol of the great nation it represents is despicable. Our founding fathers did not intend this.
I recently saw the trailer for “W” this last weekend when I went to see “An American Carol” (go see it).
Oliver Stone is only interested in dissing christians!
Don’t worry folks. This movie will bomb as all liberal smear jobs
have over the past couple of years. I suppose Obama can bail
them out after Hollywood bankrupts itself producing crap no one
wants to see!
When will the movie about the Democratic parties involvement in FANNY GATE be forthcomeing? Soon I hope but oh wait, fiction always sells so much better than non fiction…
I will not waste my money on a film that is mostly fiction and used to fuel the hatred in Hollywood against Pres. Bush. Stone lives in a cloud of fables.
OK, If Mr. Stoned is to get really crazy after making a movie of a sitting president, he could now start on a movie called “Obama bin-Biden” and make it about a current Democrat presidential candidate. At least he could advertise it before the election. This would be unheard of although it would probably gross more money than he could ever imagine. But I don’t suppose he’ll risk ruining Obama’s run for presidency because he’s in the tank for him.
I am positive that the Stone film will not credit GWB with the fact that he has been largely responsible for stopping myriad terrorist attacks and keeping our asses from being blown off since 9-11.
Oliver Stone is so impressed with himself and his liberal suck-up followers that he needs two seats on a plane – one for his pinko commie rear and one for his ego.
The people who flock to this crap are the same who flock to Michael Moore Mockumentaries of the truth and think they are enlightened.
I saw a special preview with a friend. I have to say that it was not all that good. The acting was a collection of pretty bad imitations except for Richard Dreyfuss. He was very convincing as Dick Cheney. My biggest problem with it is that the dialogue sounded a lot like a political propaganda piece. Could have been WAY better.
I will boycott Mr. Stone’s attempt to ensure Obama’s election through the smearing of a sitting President’s reputation via “W”. Why don’t we have some of the same for Clinton (though it would probably warrant an X rating)? Shameless, though those blinded by partisan hatred will no doubt be thrilled by this piece of scandalous fiction.
Is there going to be nudity?
This one will leave a lot of people wishing the movie was out before they voted for the SHRUB…some of them twice…the PAIN is all of ours…the laugh is on you guys…you know who you are
I plan to see W. But to echo what some others have said, it would be fair, and even interesting, to have a movie made on the Clinton Presidency, including Monica and the impeachment.
Bad form. Bush comes-off as a dope in real life who can’t put two sentences together, but really: is there no decency any more? He’s the sitting president! The first amendment grants freedom of speech, but do you have to ply that freedom by being a complete, flatulating butt-hole? The marked lack of civility in our country is alarming, and every time vile stuff like this comes out of the skulls of stone and moore and their ilk we are all diminished. Have just a little class… Our sons and daughters are shown daily how NOT to behave – in ways that make it seem perfectly acceptable. How about using media to inspire them rather than cajole, frighten or turn them ever more cynical? Words cannot express how little I think of the extremes on either side of the aisle that do nothing but work toward their own self-interests and lay waste to our political system and society in general in the process. Great work stony.
By the way… I have little regard for either of our ‘candidates’. We should have qualified, dignified, thinking men (or women) running for our highest office. Instead we get some guy from nowhere – there only because he speaks well – and a guy who should have been given a chance 8 years ago but who’s age now causes him to be virtually discounted and causes us to all worry about how another nobody will do running our country. Men who fit the mold: Richardson, Romney, even Huckaby were passed-by by the electorate for these?! Our country is run by idiots supported elected by fools. Our founding fathers are spinning in their graves and no one cares. These offices were meant to be posts of public service – to be taken soberly by individuals interested in serving the public good. Can we ever get back there?
Just another attempt by hollywood to affect the political outcome by targeting an outgoing president.. How clever!
I am North East Liberal who thinks that George Bush has been the worst President in the history of the US. He has driven up the debt, sold half of America to China, increased the size of the deficit and Government as well as gotten America involved in a needless war of choice by lying to the American people (bad intelligence my butt! why did he give Tenant the Medal of Honor for bad intelligence?).
That being said, even I have no interest in seeing this movie.
Oliver Stoned.
W….as in Whocares? He’s going to be out of office soon and then we can impeach Obama for not telling the truth about his associations and his not being a citizen of the US. A better movie would have been the economic destruction of the US by world bankers. Oh…we don’t need a movie about that because we are living it.
I’ll save my $10. In fact, I save the hours of life it takes to watch this all together. Of all the amazing historical figures in the US and World, Stone picks a President STILL IN OFFICE! Whether you think Bush is great or not, I just find it to be bad taste.
This is the best American movie that China can pay to make.
“I will boycott every single Oliver Stone film from now on.”
I’ve got you beat. I’ve boycotted every one of his movies even before I knew about his history twisting. It’s always nice to see my instincts proven right.
Stone and his Hollywood cronies are liars and always have been. Afraid of the truth, the attack conservatives while allowing their liberal buddies to get away with murder…typical Hollywood baloney.
All politics aside, Oliver Stone is a hack director with all the skill and subtlety of a first year film school student trying to prove how edgy he is. This movie will be garbage like nearly all of his recent steaming piles of cinematic crap.
Liberals will NOT see it because they hate Bush.
Conservatives will NOT see it because Bush is a sitting president.
That leaves about 20-30 people who will see it when because they show up at the theater at the wrong time and it is the ONLY movie that fits with their plans to go party somewhere!
66% will see it because it is “controversial.” Controversy implies some dispute. What’s the controversy?
No one disputes that Oliver Stone and Josh Brolin hate George W. Bush, and that’s about all we need to know about this movie.
If you get your jollies watching hatred trying to be funny, fine, but there’s no controversy here, unless it’s whether anybody with an IQ of three digits will waste money on it.
Stones and Idiot, a movie with commie china money
what an ass, I won;t watch it
see the trailers where it’s just him and cheney
how is that documented,
I want to see the movie where Monica swallows Bill
oh, sorry no movies about liberals
just JFK, Nixon, Bush and any other conservative
and yeah, JFK wasn’t a commie…..just a good democrat
but now the democrat leadership is socialist
Stone is just like the rest of Hollyweird and by seeing his or any of the other nut case liberals. you contribute to their cause.
Every time you buy from their sponsor, buy a movie ticket or a movie, a song or cd.:You yourself have contributed to the Hollyweird elite pocketbook.
You conservatives that do this are contributing to the very people who are putting you and your beliefs in the trash.
Vanessa Redgrave once remarked how little money she actually had because she gave it all to the Communist Party in Britain.
Every dollar you spend on Timberlake, Streisand, Looney Clooney, Sarandon, Brolin, etc. and their sponsors goes to defeat the very people you support.
No we’re not hypocrites—we read a lot and spend very little time at the t.v. and none at the movies that have any liberal actors or actresses.
Needless to say we don’t watch many movies.
We read one hell of a lot. We entertain ourselves on the computers and save one hell of a lot of money.
I am going to see the movie because a liberal friend of mine agreed to see American Carol with me if I would see this with her. I think I am getting the better end of the deal, she will probably get offended at the Moore movie whereas I will get a laugh at the utter ridiculousness of this movie.
I don’t agree with releasing this movie hoping it will influence the election. I don’t care what anyone says, I will always believe that is O. Stone’s intent. I also think it will fail to produce the results he is shooting for. Everyone, dem and repub alike, knows this election is too important to allow their choice for president to be influenced by this biased movie. I know the repubs are that smart, anyway. Let’s hope the dems and indys are!
Just another attempt to release some BS a couple of weeks before the election.
Hey Oliver Stone How about a movie about Obama and his past life and all of the Characters he has bonded with .
Let’s see- we could have Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and his wife, Rezsco interview from an Illinois prison, ACORN representatives,Raila Odinga the thug from Kenya that Obama helped support for election-maybe you could show some of the murders and church burnings that happened in Kenya.
Let’s see–I would mention a few decent people that Obama has had ties with over the years but we do not know any-
So what about it Oliver Stone? Where is the movie I just described?
I find it hysterical that people are posting about Bill Clinton’s presidency on a thread about the movie “W.” When are you Republican clowns going to get over it? Your party has had 8 years in control of the executive, and Bush’s presidency has been a disaster from the get go. Republicans need to let go of their hatred for Bubba; it’s GW Bush and the Republican party who have done their best to ruin this great country.
It always cracks me up when I hear a democrat say that Bush is stupid, or an idiot or just a plain moron. Then they turn around and say that he lied and tricked them into going into Iraq. Now if you are conned by a smooth talking intelligent con man, that is bad, but if you are conned by a stupid, idiotic moron of a con man, that says more about you then them.
Then to hear them say that someone with only a B.A. in Journalism isn’t qualified to be Vice-President of the U.S.A like Sarah Palin. They must be forgetting that is all that Al Gore had. Now Al did go to Divinity School, but he dropped out, which might be something about the no sex, no drugs and no rock and roll? Then good old Al went to Law School, but there he flunked out. So I guess that a man with a degree in Journalism is qualified to be Vice President, but a women isn’t.
I wouldn’t see an Oliver Stone movie if I was given a free ticket and all the popcorn I could eat! His movies are pure fabrication and lies. He is deranged and delusional in his belief that he has something to offer. His director abilities are painfully limited. He plays to those who have anger and hate as their mantra. Sorry, not a film I would be able to stomach.
Pretty tasteless to make a mockumentary about a sitting president, but then again nobody’s accusing Oliver Stone of having taste, decorum, or even a shred of decency. I’m sure it will do reasonable box office, primarily composed of liberals who hate Bush anyway, and want to see him mocked. Hey, it’s still a free country, though… I support his right to show a fictional movie saying whatever inane nonsense he wants, and take money from dumb people.
Initially I was concerned about W – I was worried that it’d be a strong-left movie that is only concerned with putting George W Bush down. But after seeing a few trailers, a couple clips and watching Oliver Stone’s presence on a number of television programs, I can see now that Olive Stone has approached this with a level of sophistication and grace that I hope is apparent in the film itself.
Here’s a reason that everyone should see it. In promoting the film, Oliver Stone called George W Bush a ‘great president’. With a statement so controversial, I have no other choice than to witness it for myself.
This is why I hate hollywood. They are actively trying to rig the election and shove thier polictical ideology down my throat. Where was the movie about Clinton’s scandals just before the 2000 elections?
Even though I am not a Bush fan at all, it makes me really sad that someone would make a movie like this about a current president.
I for one will be there for the first weekend. Oliver sometimes can make very interesting films…….even back when he made THE HAND and he was hanging out in Santa Monica drinking margaritas, staying in a Ocean Blvd hotel and trying to guess what type of women would next enter the elevator (Blonde and Red Head both with huge assets – and he got it right!) as he was drafting up Scarface, he was just an interesting guy. I hope that W does solid business because the man has the balls to make films like W, and even if it falls just short of being a masterpiece, he is an important asset to contemporary cinema.
You can quote me on this.
GO!
http://www.theweeklydonut.com/index.php/category/bushs-playhouse/
“W” will increase Obama’s poll numbers by 3% over Bush/McCain
This movie will tank just as bad as Body Of Lies, Lions for Lams, Redacted, Rendition, Stop Loss, etc … I find it confusing… this is suppose to be SHOWbiz… but with these libs running every studio into the ground with these ridiculous anti-war. anti-bush, anti AMERICAN movies, all we’re getting is the “show” part… and it ain’t a very good one.
Just another hit piece by the socialists in Hollywood…blah..blah blah.
Wow another OStone loser! Only idiots would waste time and money seeing whatever garbage he puts out.
It is very obvious why this movie was released at this time. Oliver Stone is well known for trying to rewrite history.
Let’s see, the sample is a 53-27 Obama-McCain split. That means that they likely went all the way downstairs from their Hollywood office to poll people.
Way to get a cross-section of the country for your opinion “poll”…
What does “roughly” 2,000 respondents mean? 1,950 said “go jump in a lake”? There are many ways to “respond” to a poll — other than answering a question. Typical polling b.s.
wow, these George W supporters who are all pissy about this movie are really mind blowing. I didn’t even realize there was anyone left, other than my 90 year old grandmother, who is still defending this guy. most republicans I know would like to forget they even helped him get into office.
This is sad because as was recently pointed out on a History Channel show, many younger Americans saw JFK and actually think that’s the way it was, when nothing could be further from the truth. Stone banks on impressionable people being too lazy to vett the drivel he churns out.
I find it amazing that these potential viewers have the two brain cells rubbed together that it takes to use Fandango.
Oliver Stone served his country in Viet Nam and I believe was awarded 2 medals. He walked the walk, unlike so many of our present day political leaders.
Stone is a patriot and a helluva great film artist as well.
Although I do think they should have waited until the sitting president was done with his term, I will see it. I won’t waste $8 at the movies, but I’ll see it when comes out on dvd.
Ah, looks like the faux-news idiot brigade has finally arrived– right after a link to this entry was posted on Drudgereport, what a coincidence!
Let’s see this is a movie by a guy who thinks Castro is an okay kind of guy. Gee I wonder why Miamians are not trying to escape to Cuba since Stone endorsed someone who is a dictator for life? In other words, you could not pay me to see this piece of …………
Everyone I know is planning to boycott this disgusting movie. Hollywood thinks they can buy their radical political views into reality. If they get their way and Obama is elected, I wonder how those Hollywood elitists are going to like “spreading their wealth” around to the rest of the country with Obama’s socialist tax system.
Beats me. Stone just wants to bash someone and it is W.
Be fair and do a movie about the Clintons and the Obamas.
Fair and honesty is something Hollywood knows nothing about, they are like the bias media. Just onesided.
Wow. You Rethugs are sure ANGRY people.
You need to take off the Palin beer goggles and accept the fact that GW Bush has been an absolute disgrace to this country. W has brought us to our knees, but Obama will win by a landslide and fix this mess that he has left us in. Mike’s comment above looking for a Clinton movie about his sex scandal is typical of the ignorance on the right. Bush has done nothing but LIE to the American people from day one. He took us to war with a country after lying to us that we were about to die if we didn’t invade Iraq, while letting Osama Bin Laden get away by taking his eye off of Afghanistan. There have been lies after lies, scandal after scandal, and many Americans have lost their lives over his policies. Not to mention how many other people were killed by his administration. The sins of Clinton don’t compare to the crimes that W has done.
Three more months, my friends!
I will not waste my money on anything Stones does.
What i like best about the trailers is they say exactly what the movie is…
“BASED ON” the “UNBELIEVABLE” true story. The true part that the unbelievable part is based on is that GWB is President. The rest is made up.
Think about it Cheney and Bush have a private lunch? Somehow O Stone knows the dialog at that lunch? Who talked? Cheney? Please!
I think I’ll wait for Stone’s movie trashing Eisenhower.
Gee, another Hollywood hit-job on the Republicans. Yawn.
Dick Cheney and George W. will be remembered by generations to come for their dogged dedication to keeping this country safe by kicking a** and taking names. Stone’s impotent attempt to capture the relationship between these two men is laughable.
“Historians will look on this film as THE defining basis from which to base all future critiques of his presidency. It is done with impeccable taste, and tenacious attention to truth and honesty. Oliver Stone is worthy of our most intimate trust, as one who has reserached in greatest depth the activities of “W” in the office of President of the United States. He only has the American way of life and public at his best interest. Conservatives would be proud to see this film!!
Collegiate researchers will note this film’s tremendous historical value, and it shall be referenced in all future US history books to come.”\
…and I would rather go to the bathrrom and puke my guts out, than think THIS of such a piece of trash from the Hollywood left!!
Anyone with a brain already knows that W. is a dumb-dumb and one of the worst Presidents in American history. If anything, this movie will probably lift W.’s approval ratings by humanizing him and reminding voters that, even though he made the country a lot poorer and weaker, at least he is fun to have a beer with.
lots of angry right wingers posting about a movie they haven’t seen.
Typical.
63% still live in their parents basement.
47% will have to borrow the movie money from their parents.
74.7% think that all statistics are made up!
This movie wasn’t made by Hollywood. It was funded with Chinese money. Not even Hollywood would fork up cash for something so silly and stupid. The hate spewers will no doubt enjoy it. I hope it tanks. I hope there aren’t enough divisive partisan simpleton robots to pay back the Chinese.
Its just disrespectful to the office of the Presidency. Love him or hate him W is still a sitting US president. This fuels propaganda by our enemies (by the way, we have real enemies in this world and it isn’t the President)
So, does anyone else think the trailers to this movie make our president look like an incredibly awesome guy? I don’t consider myself very political but I saw the preview and thought I know it’s supposed to make him look like a drunk, a druggie, and a retard but it actually makes him look like kind of a bad ass. I’m pretty excited about it, I think this movie will make me walk away really appreciating good ol’ George. I think they wanted to make him look like a village idiot (which he’s not) but I think they will only succeed in making him look more like a presidential James Dean.
This movie just provides me with a list of B actors who I can add to my list of losers that I won’t go see at the movies. When are these idiots going to learn that only hurts their pocketbook when they show their liberal views. Oliver Stone is a no talent movie maker who will not become rich off this joke of a movie.
PS: Oliver, Bush is not running!
What a crock for the leftists to put out a mocking movie of a sitting president. Typical liberal crap. Yeah, they are Soooooooooooooo Tolerant. NOT!
I am breathlessly awaiting the release of “W” to NOT see at all.
Does anyone need to spend real money to know who “W” is and the kind of havoc he has brought on to this country?
Oliver Stone has earned the widespread disrespect that most moviegoers have for him. He has yet to make a movie with any serious insight or objective content. Hollywood is such a disappointment these days. And Stone is barely a step above Michael Moore in contributing to that sad state of affairs.
cookmeyer1970 – who told you to think that? What do you think they’re going to tell you to think tomorrow? Be careful, letting others THINK for you can get you into trouble… (unless you’re the typical liberal moron – then I guess it doesn’t really matter).
Count me out. I’d rather watch re-runs on HBO.
It would be interesting to have Oliver Stone do a bio on himself and see if it can withstand the “scrutiny” that has been so “exhaustively researched” on G.W. Bush.
In any case, I’m pleased to announce the movie will be my first illegal download! Join me, ya’ll?
Voted for W twice. Heck, I’ll probably watch the movie on rental. Just have to thicken the skin and know the truth from the propaganda. I still think JFK is a great film although it’s fiction. Costner fan I suppose. Too bad that most people thought that’s how everything went down. Blame that on the current state of our education institutions. To my fellow conservatives: Thicken the skin and lighten up! If you’re waiting on Hollywood to “come around to the truth”, you’re in for a LONG wait. Enjoy your books and internet while you pout. I still enjoy watching movies and will continue to do so. Tim Robbins is a left wing nut case, but Shawshank Redemption is one heck of a good movie. The list goes on. Deal with it.
No one is really grasping the consequence of these silly Oliver Stone caricatures and other liberal films: Hollywood is redefining history, now even on-the-fly, as-it-happens. We no longer need to teach history – which is good because in public schools we’re obviously not teaching anything – good-for-nothings can now learn history while they are entertained at the theater. This is the sitcom future we have to look forward to under the guidance of liberalism. Substance no longer matters, facts no longer matter, the truth no longer matters, even history no longer matters. Short wit, emotion, sitcom logic, and entertainment are now what define our culture.
I’ll bet the previews during the screening of his movie are going to be great, then the experience will suck for about 110 minutes, then the closing credits will be good and if the weather’s nice on the way home from the theater, the overall experience will be a positive–except for the 110 minutes of sitting through cinematic excrement.
How does Oliver Stone dupe the money people into giving him money for his movie failures. Just goes to show not all of Hollywood is into profit.
so if its as full of BS as the JFK debacle of a “movie based on true fact” we should be in for some great science fiction. I’m with the commentor below who left a single word comment — “sheep.” Not too many folks who think for themselves these days. They let Hollywood, the media, guys like O. Stone do it for them. Then they vote for Obama.
70 year old progressive/liberal male. Born in Kansas. Voted for Nixon. Converted by JFK. I will not go to this movie because there is nothing entertaining or funny about Bush. He screwed this country. And as some of you will soon see he screwed the Republican party.
Oliver Stone? Every movie he has ever made is a fantasy with very loose facts thrown around here and there. Who really cares what he thinks or does? If you have a thinking mind(i.e. you’re not a liberal dem) then you know Stone, along with his movies, is full of s**t. What a pathetic joke, and what an amazing coincidence this movie is coming out now.
I don’t recall hardcore, tough, macho, republican neo-cons ever being so whiney before this election. No toys left? Intentions exposed? Heros are all crooks? Wah Wah….
I loved Platoon, Born on the 4th, Wall Street, JFK, and I’m sure that as bad as I hate the traitorous BUSH/CHENEY regime I’ll love “Dubya”. I hope he makes another movie in 10 years about “the Bush lagacy” that Bush is so concerned about. Oliver Stone is a patriotic genius. Deal with it.
I know the left like to think the President is dictator of the US, and they hate Bush for keeping them safe as he has thwarted several dozen terrorist attacks. And they think this economic crisis is his fault despite it was decades in the making by the democrats which they continue to impose on the country. And they are so put out by a war they care nothing for, history will vindicate this man despite their delusions.
“Anonymous, you said, “Oliver Stone is a traitor and should just move to one of his Utopian nations, for example, Cuba is just a short flight away. Europe becomes him..WHY does he stay here in America??!!!” I can answer that question for you, with the answer my father (who fled Cuba on a boat in 1962) once gave me when I asked him essentially the same thing. He said because it’s very, very easy to espouse Communist propaganda, and claim to be one, while lying comfortably in your living room barcolounger in a FREE society! Very simply, with people like Stone, true Communism is for other people.
Unfortunately our society is turning to this garbage in order to engage in some kind of self-confirming anti-Bush revisionism instead of real History.
Michael Moore for President!
Bush Knew!
er…
Just say no to Reptilians!
Next maybe we can see a movie on how Dan Rather nearly saved America!
Imagine a film maker making a movie about Obama and that the movie’s perspective puts Obama poorly. So for people who do not like Obama, why would you want to put yourself through 2 hours of watching a moive about someone you do not care for? And for people who like Obama, why would you put yourself through 2 hours of watching a moive that makes fun of Obama?
I really do not see the appeal for anybody to go see “W”. A monumental waste of time, not to mention the price of the ticket.
I’ll never pay to see another liberal Hollywood movie. I’ll just download it off a bittorrent site if it interests me. On the other hand, An American Carol is great, and I’ll pay over and over to see it.
“Stone and W both went to Yale. W graduated with an MBA, Stoner dropped out. Now he’s trying to get back at W for doing what he was incapable of doing.
Stoner plays hard and fast with the facts in all his leftist propaganda.”
and the fact that one of them went to Vietnam and one of them hid in the Texas Air Nation Guard. Oh, but that was the stoner that served his country and put his life on the line, wasn’t it?
I too am upset that the only REAL political discourse in the country is found on comedy entertainment shows like Daily Show, Bill Maher and Colbert Report. Now, along comes “W” to further skewer that idiot George Bush for our entertainment. Instead, we should be impeaching the treasonist for lying to us, getting our men and women killed, and wreaking havoc on our nation’s legacy, economy and our children’s future. Sorry, Oliver, but my mind is on more hopeful things like Obama.
Just another Hollywood flop just like all of the others lately.
I hope to see Hollywood go down in flames just like our economy…with no bailout!
Sick of trash in Hollywood.
nobody i know.
Look at the diversity of opinions on this page. I feel so blessed to live in a country where everyone can publicly express their criticisms of the president — even with obscenities — without fear of retribution. I bet you couldn’t do this in Venezuela or Cuba.
I feel embarassed for my country, however, because so many Americans seem to have such blind hatred. I can completely understand folks who think we should have never began fighting in Iraq, or who think we need a nationalized healthcare program or any other left-wing position. Go ahead, criticise the President’s decisions all you want — just please stop your blind hatred — I think you can do a lot better.
I read all the comments, I wonder, could I be so wrong?
Have I not been alive the last eight years?
I thing over and over,.. trying to think of one good thing about G.W’s. time. Am I crazy?, Am I alone?, G.W has been the most wreckless, ignorant, abusive, totally irrespensible of any president. This nation has suffered more under his presidency that under any other president before. Am I naive?, stupid, unawared, or what is it that the republicans perceive that I do not?
Hey, Ugly Punk Girl…it’s not a comedy. It just looks that way because W acts so foolish. Don’t judge a book by its cover. We’re all familiar with the past eight years of horseshit.
I wouldn’t go see “W” if the tickets were free! I guess Hollywood hasn’t learned that all the great movies they use to make were great and classics because they weren’t decadent as they are today. Movies today are disgusting and have no meaning. I would rather watch a TCM movies 5 times instead of going to the junk they are coming out with these days, and that liberal DiCaprio, I’m so happy your movie bombed, could it be the Republicans won’t support you, keep shooting your mouth off!
Wow…. watching “W” would be like trying to watch a kidney “Stone” being passed. I wouldn’t want to watch a movie that was created by a man who can’t even bring himself to mourn those who died on 9/11. Perhaps he was out of the country and doesn’t know about that significant historical event.
If the intent is a balanced portrait of a president, why not show a little respect and just wait until he’s out of office? Releasing it right before the elections seems to betray Stone’s true intent. Couldn’t Bush sue for defamation over this?
It’s hilarious and also sad to read all the posts from readers who found their way to this blog via the Drudge Report or any other conservative right wing website. The stupidity and ignorance of the posters and their lack of information about the film and how it was financed, researched, etc along with their blind devotion to our current (but not for long) President shows how ill-informed a large majority of the American public is. Who cares if W is a sitting president, neither he nor his VP nor anyone in his cabinet are running for office so the film should not be influencing anyone’s vote. That notwithstanding, will Stone’s film be biased? Probably — but so is Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and other right-wing media – some media outlets lean to the left – that is how it has always been. To blindly follow what others tell you (like so many right wingers do) is very dangerous. Most conservatives will dismiss the film as garbage without seeing it and judging for themselves. Most liberals will see it and consider its content and creator with a grain of salt. By the way for those of you supporting McCain, most Dems I know do not think Obama is perfect, nor do we think McCain is the devil. We just believe Obama will make a better President based on intelligence, perspective, policies, ethics, an understanding of world and domestic affairs, etc. It’s time all Americans examined the issues, did their homework, and researched the facts about their candidates instead of just repeating soundbites from conservative mouth pieces. And by the way – Stone conducted numerous interviews with people who have worked in the Bush administration and/or who knew him during his wild years – much of W’s history is a matter of public record. So do your own research before passing judgement.
Oh, it’s just more of the same. Some corrections:
1. Bush: (Sr or Jr): Not a Conservative.
2. He didn’t lie; there *were* weapons of mass destruction- over a dozen hot-rodded missiles as well as nearly 8T of yellowcake uranium, both reported, then redacted, by the New York Times.
3. Oliver Stone’s in the business of making money. Just one last chance to make some.
4. When we went into Iraq they weren’t soverign: remember the first half of that war? They were answering to the UN. And 492 times Saddam fired upon our aircraft patrolling the no-fly zone.
6. Bush did NOT cause Katrina because he didn’t sign a peace treaty. Hurricanes are forces of nature.
Hey, how about branching out? Don’t just listen to headlines. And ask some questions sometimes.
Sheesh…just because Michael Moore says it, doesn’t make it true.
Jeez, when did Free Republic invade the site?
I want to see “W.” because it looks like an epic tragic comedy, which is really the only way tell the story of George W. Bush.
Plus the idea of Richard Dreyfus as Dick Cheney is hilarious.
Hid in the Texas Air National Guard flying jets? How does one spend 6 years of their life learning to fly jets hiding I have no idea….Yup Stone went to Vietnam and like John Kerry has been dishonoring his service ever since…
I’ll wait 8 months to see it on TBS. Oliver Stone’s world view is warped.
Some of the stuff by these GOP trolls reads like it was written in crayon.
Who taught you people how to type?
When did you discover you had opposable thumbs?
Why do you feel the need to blame Hollywood for your lives?
Y’all seems to love the Bible but I get the feeling most of you haven’t actually read it.
After you give it a glance you should give the Constitution a once over too.
Then learn to accept others that disagree with you or look different, or have a different God (or none at all).
It’s not just a good idea (Bible), it’s the law (Constitution).
Perhaps a better question would be: “Would you feel out of touch with the majority of Americans if Oliver Stone’s ‘W’ comes in at #1?” I think it’s time for people of all political perspectives to start taking an honest look at themselves. Regardless of where you stand, you have to know we have a lot of work to do in this country. And we can’t do it with all this STUPID partisanship. Grow up! This is the USA! The best thing going.
Oh yeah, I’m dying to see a movie that teaches me nothing about a president or a moviemaker that I did not already know. I’m trying to figure out why you would release this movie NOW when no one cares what G.W does. The whole world is focused elsewhere. Plus, Oliver Stone has that nutty Howard-Hughes-meets-Jack- LaLane vibe wafting off him. LIGAF about his POV. Hollywood has lost the fucking plot. That’s clear. Put this on a 2-fer DVD along with that Tom Cruise Nazi-hero stinker.
I think this will be a big turkey. I have absolutely NO interest in seeing anything political. I’m sick of politics. I have been sick of it since the primaries. I don’t think I’m alone either.
A bunch of posts back a native texan posted that they were offended by the charicatures of texans in the previews to this move. I just though that was funny as all get out considering George W. Bush is actually a Connecticut Yankee who has spent his last eight years as a charicature of a texan. The Bushes are just a bunch of carpetbaggers
Yes, Bush might be a good subject for a film. But when do we get a film about a real failed Presidency, i.e. Jimmy Carter? I mean the screw-ups during that administration are epic, but I guess since he got a Nobel Prize he’s off-limits.
They couldn’t give me a ticket to see Oliver Stone’s propaganda movies especially W…I did see other films of his because i used to like to go to the movies…now i realize what the movie industry has become …..nothing but left wing ideology based on erronious information …these people breed conspiracy hypocrisy and hatred of conservatives….like Winston Churchill once surmised (if you are young and a conservative you have no heart…when you have achieved adulthood and are a liberal you have no brains..attention oliver… churchill meant you and all the other hollywood cronies….
Hey Hollywood how about a nice cup of shut the FUCK UP
Why isn’t Will Ferrell playing W?
Who cares about Chinese propoganda films?
I see Stone clicking his military boots.
The subject matter doesn’t bother me so much. It’s the fact that all of Oliver Stone’s movies suck that will keep me from the theater.
Mr. Stone, have you ever thought about going into a different line of work?
This movie should be fun. Oliver Stone is credible and knows what he is doing. Can’t wait.
…THE LEFT USED TO UNDERGROUND NOW THEY ARE IN OUR FACE (HOLLYWOOD, MEDIA AND MUSIC) AND NOT ASHAMED OR SUBVERSIVE AS IN YEARS PAST. THEIR AGENDA IS SO CLEAR AND PRECISE IT IS FRIGHTENING. MAY ALL OF YOU LEFTIE LEMMINGS CHOKE ON YOUR POPCORN
Just as it is improper for any past president to criticize any sitting president of the United States while still in office — it is likewise improper to make a blisteringly critical [& moreover unsupported] movie for wide commercial release [profit] while a President is still in office…especially just before a national election AND especially when we are at war. It feeds the fire of enemies of the United States of America. It is um-American, un-patriotic, and unforgiveable of Oliver Stone. He should thank God & Country that he has a President & troops who fight daily to give him the very the FREEDOM & RIGHTS to be such an IRRESPONSIBLE citizen and make such a self-serving piece of trash here in the USA. Do you think anyone from Iran, Iraq, North Korea or Russia [to quote a few countries brought up on this thread] could make such a movie about leaders in their countries… without being jailed & executed for treason??

It looks somewhat clever, but mostly dim-witted–as with most of Stone’s work. Why pay for it, though? This one’s already available, pirated, on the Internet.
Ah yes, another Oliver Stone flick.. where he claims there is no malice in the making of this film and yet interviews with Brolin indicate the ridicule they both chronically engaged in while developing the character and filming. The words ‘based on a true story’ have no meaning when referring to Stone’s work. It’s like a fictional novel cutting in and out of distorted reality for the sake of Hollywood’s pat on the back.
But of course, this is what we’ve come to as a nation – running a staged campaign for a democratic nominee as though it’s a reality show and American Idol blend. And those who don’t know the issues grasp the words ‘change’, ‘hope’, and think it swell that their next president might play basketball and share the same artist as them on his iPod.
Bush’s presidency has been filled with serious errors and dangerous decisions, but a spun tale like this movie is nothing more than fodder for the voracious appetite of ridicule-ranting liberals.
if he couldn’t get JFK right, why would anyone think he could do GWB right. no way, no pay.
The number of these postings will exceed the number of people actually going to see this turd….
God Bless you Mr President. You’re a good man. Wish you were running again.
Don’t let let this movie or these pussy’s in this country get you down. They had no choice but to try to bring you and your presidency down after 9/11. The country was united at that time and they couldn’t have that.
Thank you for all you did for our country to keep us safe these past years.
Bush wanted Hollywood to support a “war on terror” and and this film simply proves he succeeded, as the movie takes on the leading terrorist of the day – Bush himself.
No one will go see this movie…yet it will win dozens of awards and get great reviews, promising “a surprisingly even-handed look” at Bush, and “a non-partisan” movie, that “doesn’t take a political position.”
Blah blah blah.
sirrion – how’s that Kook-Aid taste? Bush requested to be transferred to Vietnam. Sorry, it’s documented… but nice try.
Actually, Bush was on a secret mission protecting our country. I have the proof right here – It’s a copy of a document from the early 70’s… no, don’t worry about the fact that it looks like a document I whipped up using Microsoft Word – that’s just a coincidence! “The evidence may be false…BUT THE STORY IS TRUE”
…
(If the republicans were as good at deception AND self-deception as the demegogues, err, I mean democrates, McCain would be up by 20 points)
Bush will go down as one of the greatest Presidents ever. Just watch.
“I’m glad Fandango did this survey, but I’m pretty sure that -unfortunately- we are still very far from knowing what does Average American think about ‘W’. (Maybe a survey at Wal-Mart, anybody?)”
seeing as it’s a movie, it doesn’t matter what the Average American thinks–as long as it finds a large enough theatrical audience to pay the bills. films targeting a particular audience tend to be a safer bet at the box office. or at least, a sensible hedge.
the Average American doesn’t go to the movies that often. What the Average American thinks doesn’t matter unless and until the movie is on DVD for the most part (even stuff like Harry Potter films start from a built-in audience and hope for a bigger crossover audience generally).
Hmm a story with no ending, sounds like a winner!
Having been in market research for over a decade I’d say it was mall employees dropping by survey center to see if they had any quick $5 studies to pay for their lunch – nobody WANTS to see W – not the people on the Right who see it as slanderous and not the people on the Left who suffer Bush Derangement Syndrome and would have nightmares from watching it.
Well, Hey…Stone did such a “true to life, factual” job on “JFK”…..why would anyone expect anything other than mere “boxoffice junk” from “W”
I went to see “JFK”….but, “W”….well..
Let’s see….”fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice….uh….shame on Oliver Stone….”
I guess this “documentary” will be required viewing in high schools in the same vane as “An Inconvenient Truth”.
Oliver Stone is a joke! This film will have an abysmal turnout & will lose money! Rightfully so!
I – for one – am sick of liberals using various platforms to spout off their vitriolic hate for this country. Hasn’t history shown them that it doesn’t work? What anti-American movie HAS made money?
Why would anyone be stupid enough to waste money on ANY Stone movie. The guy is insane and has absolutely no talent! I’m thinking ACORN must have filled out most of these surveys. Or maybe the great and glorious messiah Der Obama ordered them to go see it. Nothing will suprise me in this country anymore.
I’d be surprised if anyone went to see it.
People are so over the Bush thing.
It’s like watching a recording of the World Series 2 months after the game.
Boring.
One word that scares Oliver Stone and the rest of the Hollywood crowd – bittorrent – hit em where it hurts!
Conservatives?
Liberals?
how about just “Americans”
Having served my country, “the USA”, under Ronald Reagan, and leaning to the right most of my life, mostly because of firearms rights and less big Brother, the recent comeplete breakdown of capatalism,{see wallstreet), has made me re-think the direction of country needs to go.
George Bush and his administration were in charge for the last 8 years, wall street crumbled, nuff said.
George Bush and his admin, went to Iraq before finishing Afghanistan, which is now the hotbed of terrorism, while Saddam Hussein, hated the Taliban.
Who’s driving this bus anyway?
I am a gun toting, god fearing, NRA card carrying member, who has had it with being lied to by the same people I killed for.
Damn right I am going to see the movie…..
I wouldn;t waste a dime on it.
Another Stone faux documentary where he mixes fact and fiction to convince the watcher thathe’s watching history.
All you’re watching is Stone’s biased imagination. Save your money.
I am a conservative republic and I want to see this show. I can’t stand Oliver Stone, but I can’t help being interested in this one. I have seen two different previews…one that looks funny and one that looks serious. It is just a movie people…chill:)
I don’t like Bush, and didn’t vote for him, however, I do not trust this movie to be a fair portrayal of our president. I just cannot understand why there is no diversity of thought in Hollywood. It’s almost as if political beliefs have replaced religion for some of these folks. I can’t bear to watch such a movie, for as much as I don’t like Bush, I don’t like the underhanded tactics of those in Hollywood who deem it necessary to foist their agendas on us.
I agree that Stone like all the other Hollywood elites is ALWAYS in it for the money. If he can get a political dig in, all the better.Seems like we have forgotten that under Bush, 50 million people have been freed from oppression and, Libya and North Korea have given up their nuclear ambitions.Clinton bombed an aspirin factory and missed killing Bin Laden several times and presided over the false economic growth of the Dot-Coms. Stone just needs more drugs to support his failed system.
and the fact that one of them went to Vietnam and one of them hid in the Texas Air Nation Guard. Oh, but that was the stoner that served his country and put his life on the line, wasn’t it?
…he was drafted stupid…
You could not drag me there!
I thought “Salvador” was Stone’s best movie. I would like to join in with the Bush fans and thank W for keeping us safe since 9/11, except for the 4000+ U.S. servicemen and the 100s of thousands of Iraqis. The first group volunteered and who carees about the second? When they make the movie about Saddam, W will get credit for bringing about sentimental feelings for Saddam among the Iraqi populace.
Who wants to watch 2 hours of W, now thats funny. Many cant stand the guy and oliver stone thinks iam gonna sit and watch 2 hours of this. All i have to do is turn one the news and save my time and money. Get a grip Oliver.
I’m going to bootleg the movie and sell it to the stupid for $7 a pop. Who wants to pre-order a copy? lol
I have about as much interest in this contrived piece of trash as I have had in Michael Moore’s lame offerings.
When you’re seeking historical accuracy, never look to Hollywood; and certainly not to Stone.
“I know the left like to think the President is dictator of the US, and they hate Bush for keeping them safe as he has thwarted several dozen terrorist attacks. And they think this economic crisis is his fault despite it was decades in the making by the democrats which they continue to impose on the country. And they are so put out by a war they care nothing for, history will vindicate this man despite their delusions.
Comment by Ralph — October 13, 2008″
Just like Caligula…that will be his legacy..torture.
War? Oh yeah, how could one be put off by that….so much fun and all…especially the lost innocent life….but, heck, gotta crack some eggs to make an omelet….you are deluded….I pray for you.
I have never been so hard up in my entire life that I would have to see an Oliver Stone movie.
Oliver Stone knows just about as much about the President than he does about Vietnam (Platoon), football (Any Given Sunday), and history (Alexander). All of the above movies were good for entertainment value, but he relies on the stories of others to make up for his lack of personal experience.
I have never been so hard up in my entire life that I would have to go see an Oliver Stone movie.
Smarter
ive seen the disaster that is w live and in person these last eight years , lying us into an unjust war , largest budget deficit in us history , worst record on the economy of any president in us history , worst job creation record since the great depression , yes it has been a truly historic presidency
I think the people who played in this movie should get what they deserve. The same respect there giving to Bush. I’ll never watch another Josh Brolin film again, your career is OVER! Stone picked you, Josh, because he knew you were cheap and the movie wouldn’t make much money.
Oliver Stone? Well…. it’ll be more of a documentary than a Michael Moore, I guess…
can’t wait to see this film. FUCK Bush. Long live Stone.
What exactly is the point of this movie? Is it just so Oliver Stone can show all of his lib buddies that he’s still cool?
Every Stone movie I’ve ever been to didn’t make any sense! Here’s a tip Ollie, stop doing your research for these pieces of crap while you’re stoned! Then maybe someone could watch them without getting a headache.
And BTW, President Bush isn’t on the ballot…
George W. Bush is a good man.
Most historians wait until the body is dead and buried before they make up myths about Washington, Lincoln and others. Oliver Stone has improved on the truth, making up myths before this President has died.
Show of hands here: Who really believes his claptrap?
You — there in the back — one hand. So you believed in that JFK movie too? Well, good for you. There’s a moron born every minute, I have a bridge to sell you, and Oliver Stone’s Your Guy.
Stone is a canker sore on the private parts of all Democrats…
Actually, most Americans LIKE George. He’s a nice guy. He sticks to his principles, but doesnt communicate his views often enough nor very well.
The American people are TIRED of smears. There actually ARE a very few Marxists that actually believe that Socialism is needed here and will work.
Unfortunately, most of them work in the public school systems, the media, or Hollywood, and have ABSOLUTELY no respect for the views of the average American. I just wish they would all save their money and move to Cuba and live the life they dream of.
W is about as factual as the average skit on SNL.
But the survey doesn’t say how many people are actually going.
Bush supporters don’t want to see a liberal mockery of the President, and Bush haters don’t need to spend $10 a pop to re-enforce their views.
And if anyone takes an Oliver Stone movie to be a fact, I’ve just got to laugh.
This movie will bomb and Stone’s pathetic attempt to hurt the president will fail as well….
I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed with this movie while a lot will be pleased with it. I just think it might be the opposite of the people you would think. Everything I’ve been reading (reviews, discussion, cast interviews, etc) points to a fairly even-handed movie. The real driving force of the story is supposedly the dynamic of the father-son relationship with Bush senior. While I don’t think Stone has pulled any punches, I think perhaps he came to sympathize with Bush and it comes through in the film. I guess we have to wait and see, but I think there may a surprise or two in store.
At what point will all you Bush supporters admit that W’s presidency has been a disaster? All the signs were there from the beginning, but NOW we do know how much he screwed up America. Denial is never a good thing.
Really now….
Has Oliver Stone ever made a movie worth watching?
…okay, maybe Platoon, but nothing since then has meritted more than an honorable mention at a College film festival.
He all but ruined Collen Ferrell’s career after that mess Alexander…and oh yeah, what ever happened to Woody Harrelson after that sorry excuse for a feature film Natural Born Killers.
Oliver Stone is a pathetic hack who has to rely on controversy to get people to go see his films. At some point he must have taken some joker seriously when they told him he had some talent.
I guess he just got luck with Platoon, and there are a few holes in it……
Like it or not George was elected President for 2 terms and for 8 years was the most powerful man on earth. Oliver Stone doesn’t come even close to this prestige. 200 years from now George will be immortalized along with all the other presidents while Oliver Stone will be forgotten. In the end time will favor George
Disgusting example of Hollywood thinking their opinions remotely resemble mainstream Americans. What happened to respecting the office of our President? What are we telling the world? Treasonous. Let Mr Stone take his fortune, disrespect and lies and head to another country.
Aw, the poor conservatives had their feelings hurt…
No, I won’t go see “W”. No matter your political affiliation, it is totally disrespectful to make a movie mocking a sitting President of the United States. Save it for AFTER he is out of office and keep what little integrity the US has in the world. I do find it odd that no one in Hollywood made a movie about the Clintons–what a drama that would be– or the Carter Administration–a disaster as a President.
No, we get fictional movies about Reagan, both Bush Presidents and Nixon. Only in Hollywood do people who don’t know the Constitution from a movie script get to force their views on the rest of the world.
Nope, I won’t be going to see this joke of a movie.
“I can’t wait to see it! Maybe there will be one small tidbit in the film that will make me finally like the guy.
90+ days and counting……………..”
Comment by sue — October 13, 2008 @ 6:18 pm
How about the fact that he kept your sorry ass safe from another terrorist attack for the past seven years?
I will be seeing W this Friday with many friends. Someone posted that this is not funny. They are correct. The way I am seeing things is that the movie will portray him as he is. A joke. This will be funny perjoratively, not humorously. The man has been a failure all his life and I don’t know why anyone thinks he would be any different when placed in the most important job in the world. I guess it says a lot about us as a country. First he was illegally placed in office, then he squeaked by during a war in the second. I was ashamed of this country last voting season. Right now as I watch the electoral map turning blue, I am becoming proud of this country again. Ronald Reagan started this country on a downward spiral and the current problems facing us are true testament to the Republican ideal. It has always been pregnant with the seeds of failure. The seeds are now bearing their poisonous fruit.
I want to see it despite the mental illness and paranoia of Oliver Stone. It’s funny to see first hand the inner workings of the wacko liberal mind.
Here’s a “wild guess” at the plot:
Bush is kind of bad but very stupid.
Cheney is very bad but very smart.
Colin Powell is conflicted.
Al Gore and John Kerry are saintlike and the American public is stupid.
Bush does bad and stupid things.
Lots of drug-induced camera angles/black and white slo-mo sequences.
I just saved you $ 9.50 per ticket plus the price of a large popcorn and two cokes.
You are welcome.
Oliver Stone, when involved with Scarface, said he went down to Central America taking drugs to get in the “right state of mind” of writing the story. In talking about Platoon, he said it was HIS experience during the Vietnam war …. while he was on LSD and other drugs. In Natural Born Killers, one of the producers Jane Hamsher recounts stories of taking psilocybin mushrooms with Stone. Etc… yeah, there’s more.
This idiot is not a professional and is not a particularly good film director and screenwriter …he is just a drug addict in denial and is NOT in the real world .. our world. NONE of his stories are accurate or truthful. Even the Doors movie, where no lies were needed, he completely distorted the story, to the dismay of two people who knew J. Morrison the best. Whom Stone did interview, but used NONE of the facts he was told.
Why is he so popular??? Because he is a Marxist Communist!!! He distorts history to the “in power” Marxists likings and satisfaction. They Gave him the awards and they skew the media into portraying him as a film god when he is really just worthless. I really love how he shoots down the president, but yet glorifies Mass Murders Castro and Che, as of recent.
What an ignorant dumbass! Subpar talent but with a maniac marxist drive that far exceeds his priorities in anything else. The Only reason he is not out on skid row is due to his money rich leftist loons !!!
Oliver Stone’s movie, W, is a picture of how a dummy fooled a Congress filled with smart, thoughthful liberals, who now claim they were tricked by the dummy causing the smart liberals to not do their elective due diligence, and voted to give the dummy, W, the authority to go to war in defense of the nation. A nation that was attacked and has not been attacked since the dummy, W, with the approval of smart liberals in Congress, went to war. It seems this liberal congress wanted to war to go badly for the nation for election purposes in the future.
For this the dummy, W, is hated and said to be the worst and most corrupt president in all of human history, according to the smart liberals and Oliver Stone has made this movie, W. Causing the smart liberal to spend their money to watch their fantasies of W.
This film is going to be a straight to video flop.
Oliver Stoner’s movies always last an hour or two longer than the audience wants it to. They just keep going until we are exhausted and want to die.
Folks are sick of anti-American, anti-Bush and anti-war movies. Who wants to see an Oliver Stone version of an anti-American movie? His only hope of breaking even with this movie is to have it dubbed in Arabic and show it in terrorist nations.
I can’t think of one Oliver Stone movie that is worth seeing even if the admission price was free. This one is no exception.
If you don’t like the thought of this movie then don’t go see it. If you think the movie is unfair then make your own. Who really cares? It’s just a movie.
Hollywood is a leading cause of the ruination of this country. Just buy pirated DVDs and music from overseas and send these jokers to the poor house!
The “easily-led” who will flock to this film will come away with a conclusion that they have witnessed an accurate depiction of history. These are people who do not read history; they are those who get their news from US and People magazines. One only has to view Stone’s Nixon and then compare the “facts” of that film to any one of many excellent histories of that period to see how inaccurate Stone’s interpretations are. Stone may say that these films are just entertainment and simply present an alternate possibility, but the sad reality is that many good people watch these films and, for lack exposure to any real depiction of facts, allow the films to define their own historical reality.
Saw it Sunday. Not really that good. The woman who plays Dr. Rice speaks like Steve Urkel for some reason. Kind of a shallow and by-the-numbers kind of movie.
This movie is going to be a major hit — people need a release and this is timed perfectly. (W. thought it was funny to make a vid about his failed search for weapons of mass destruction.) … Rightists are cowering like cornered bullies. I think they can fit the Bush “positives” in Alaska pretty easily. Ark!
SURE I’LL SEE IT WHEN IT COMES OUT ON VIDEO, AND THEN I’LL WAIT PATIENTLY FOR THE EVEN JUICIER STORY OF BILL CLINTON. THAT ONE WILL HAVE SEX IN IT!
Why does Hollywood continue to assume we care what they think? When did they forget they are supposed to be entertaining us. We are their customer yet they expect us to kiss THEIR butts. And then they wonder why their movies aren’t raking in the money they used to.
Stone’s next “movie” will be full of facts, like the rest of his trash.
It’ll be about “Humpty Dumpty”. He didn’t fall, he was pushed by one of the King’s men.
Neighbors … opinions should be based on fact. I wonder if the same people that are passionately against war in Iraq are just as passionately against war in Bosnia. Same situation, but difference in skin color. Also, claims that W lied to get us into the war in Iraq can’t be true because Russia, China, France, Germany, all agreed that conditions as stated were true to the best of their knowledge. If the war in Iraq is about oil then why don’t we have it???
I wonder how many muslim fanatics went to Iraq to die instead of coming here???
I haven’t seen the movie and won’t go see it because Stone is just another movie personality who thinks that his version of history is more real than life.
God bless America and all Americans!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harley
Daisy was asking why Stone wouldn’t choose a more colorful President to mock, say Bill Clinton. Daisy, that was done already. See “PRIMARY COLORS” with John Travolta doing a pretty fine job as Bill Clinton. Now Stone will never achieve the same finished product as Mike Nichols. Nichols didn’t call his mocumentary a DOCUMENTARY for one. No, Stone’s seething hatred for half of the American people’s political leanings will further thank his career. I’ll willing to wager that “W” will end up on DVD faster than Porkies Five, or on HBO before the week is out.
What a shame that Hollywood has stooped as low as they have.
During the summer when this film was in post production, several of W. Bush’s biographers criticized the film on not being based on the real facts. Which is this biopic holds true becouese of the scenes in the trailer can be called into the question.
Now the best film I like by Stone is World Trade Center. But to hastily make a quick biopic on W. is really too fast. Already a writer for Variety has panned this film already. He insisted that Oliver Stone should wait for 15yrs before hopping into this project.
surprised no one mentioned that this film’s production was partially financed by the chinese mafia (triads)!
There is a theory that Hollywood types are liberal due to guilt they feel for getting so much for doing so little. This Stone guy should be, and appears to be very guilty and very liberal. Talk about a bottom feeder. And what’s worse are the suckups that tell him he’s great.
wow a Bush trashing film from the left, How refreshing
I used to enjoy films by Oliver Stone. But as I have aged (older and wiser), I realized the liberal political slant and outright lies he puts into his films. I won’t pay to watch this film. Historical fiction is dangerous and irresponsible.
If you want to see a movie about the actual worst president in U.S. history, then you’ll have to wait until the release of Oliver Stone’s movie, “Buchanan.”
Stone(d) admits that he produced this movie to influence the prseidential election. Yet the liberals continue to complain about the few conservative radio stations. Stone is a political and social moron!
You could count me out in watching left-wing crap!
I’ll be seeing this one, but I’m not in any hurry. I know my vote goes to Obama and I don’t need to disapprove of the bush admin anymore than I already do. Liz Smith likes the movie and so do many other critics. I think the surprise is going to be how fair the film is in contrast to expectations. What is this, American Carol thing? Did I miss it? I saw two ads for it but I guess it didn’t hit the mark, huh? It was taken off our theatres markee after like a day.
Stone stands the same chance of getting money from MY wallet as that slob Moore!!!! ZERO CHANCE!!!!
More the same from communist Hollywood. the US is evil, our President is the anti-christ, and we cause the world the most problems. I will laugh when it tanks like all the other Anti-American movies that have been made within the past year. With hollywood numbers down more than ever you would think these people would get the message. Then again it is hollywood.
I’ll never understand why they hate our triditions, what we were founded on, why they call our troops baby killers, hate Christians, and embrace anything marxist? Personally, they disgust me!
As a native Texan, I am offended at the caricature acting I have seen in the previews to this film. Love the Talking Heads song, but the promos probably showed all the “good” lines and action. The actors all said they weren’t trying to play caricatures–my a$$!
JJ –
JJ,
FYI: Bush is not from Texas. He was born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. The accent is an affect. IN some ways, you can blame Bush for Texan caricature. He created it. In fact, W himself should win an Oscar — forget Brolin.
Too bad President George “W” Bush could not run for another term. He still better than the 8 yrs of Bill I did not inhale, and I did not have sex with that woman Clinton. Obama your Mama is a joke and it amazes me that he even got the nod for dems.
The redub and release in france will be a big hit ! …
I doubt the cinema’s will be able to afford to keep this showing very long due to interest.
Only the left wing haters will go see it and recommend it.
This has a very liberal, conservitive-hating cast. That speaks volume’s for the content.
I won’t be seeing such a biased movie.
G.W. Bush has done a great job, and the far left just keeps trying to put him down. I wish we could have Bush for a 3rd term.
Has Hollyweird forgotten how to make a factual fair portrait of someone? They certainly have, because not ONE film has been made of the true toils of our brave soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan. Not one will DARE to portray both sides fairly in the recount debacle in 2000. Not one will DARE to show the TRUE process by which decisions are made in the Bush administration. NO ONE has carte-blanche over the President. Cheney has been told to check it by the President and Donald Rumsfeld was berated as well. But no, we can’t show that the President actually BELIEVED he was doing right by us or that he put a lot of thought into things. That wouldn’t fit into the Hollyweird stereotype. Leave your opinions home if you can’t be fair!
I will not go see this “film”. Do I really need a drugged out, old washed up director from Hellywood to give me perspective on any President. His films are rubbish.
Get a clue people. No president is perfect, but this president had the hardest job since President Harry Truman. Elect obama and see what happens. Pull your head out and look at how scary the world really is.
Comment by scott — October 13, 2008 @ 10:05 pm
Hey I just wanted to let you know that Clinton left office with a federal budget surplus that broke records. On top of that, we were internationally respected.
What has eight years of GW done to us?
Completely reversed.
What more proof do you need? You and your fellow sheeple can keep believing in disgustingly horrible policy and see where it brings you.
I agree with Jeremy in that I think it is completely disrespectful to make the pile of rubish that I am sure “W” will be. Oliver Stone is so obsessed with pushing his bent agenda on the American Public that I doubt many will see this film.
At least we have the right to see how we were all
FUCKED……….
I am looking forward to seeing “W.” Perhaps it will
bring closure to the two biggest mistakes I made in my lifetime, and that’s for voting for the worst President our nation has ever seen, George W, Bush I was brought up to honor and respect the Office of the President, but I have ZERO respect for George W. Bush the man. He single-handedly brought more grief to our great nation because of his own personal ego, his ineptness and inability to hardly do anything right, his continual lieing and his onesided greed in favor of his friends in the oil industry. The man is shameless and brought nothing but shame upon his family and the people of our nation. I hope Stone was successful is depicting George W. Bush as the selfish despot he really is.
Ok so here are my two cents….first of all…I like Oliver Stone Films and I can truthfully give two shits about his political views…I want to see this movie as a fan of Oliver Stone not because I hate Bush…I dont let movies or music or my parents choose my political views I choose them myself!!!I know who I am going to vote for…I knew who I was going to vote for 2 months ago…This could be a good movie but people who are really tight about the political views can all go screw…I think the fact the Beverly Hills Chiaua (however you spell it) has been on top of the box office for two weeks goes to show how stupid some people are…Go see the movie and dont let people tell you how to think or vote…See it as a fan of film, not for your hatred of the person the plot revolves around…
Someone asked why Stone works over the conservatives.
Well, they have talk radio, we have the artists.
My understanding is that the film is evenhanded and
as much a tragedy as comedy.
“W” will be a MASSIVE bomb. No one is interested in seeing more “gloom and doom” – especially with a guy who is still in office. Worst timing ever.
Can we say liberal media bias… It is unbelieveable to me how hateful and intolerant liberals are of anyone who has a different opinion from theirs. All republican presidents have been made out to be idiots for the last 40+ years. Only democrats are smart and intelectual according to liberals. Yet these “idiots” keep beating the intellectuals in presidential races. Clinton did win twice but never received 50% of the vote. He needed help by third party candidates to win.
Hey, when is the movie about Clinton coming out? Wait, I know……when hell freezes over
I’m just infuriated with the garbage some of you people are writing…If you want the true facts read an autobiography…Go on the internet and research….Dont go to an Oliver Stone movie or any freaking movie ecpecting the full truth…thats like looking for real truths in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull…Go because its a movie and stopped being brainwashed that whatever hollywood puts out is
Stoner says he did it without malice to Bush. This guy represents Hollywood so why would you expect anything less. I’m done spending money on these losers and won’t see the film.
Stoner, I dare you make a movie about Acorn, Obama’s chicago, Ayers and Obama, the democrats mortgage mess.
For all who vote for Obama – you deserve putting the entire county under the liberal House, Senate and White House. You can forget about capitalism and your rights. Obama theme – welcome terrorists to America.
Oliver Stone has one great flick on his resume’, “Platoon”, everything else has hovered between OK and pure crap. He has the distinction of directing one of only three movies I have ever walked out of, The Doors.
I will probably add W to my Netflix list, but there is no way I’d lay out box office cash to see anything this hack ever does again. I’ve been bitten too many times.
Why didn’t Oliver Stone make a movie about the disastrous presidency of Jimmy Carter. The bottom line is that their has been no terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11 and we have W to thank for this!
I for one, am so sick of Hollywood Liberals that I have not been to see a movie in over a year. All conservatives need to do the same. Why give your hard earned money to these leftest pigs who spit on the people who have made this country great. Maybe if their money train is derailed, they will keep their communist ideals to their selves. Oliver Stone made one good movie “Platoon”. Nothing since. What a waste of talent.
Oliver STONED. Has made a non-fiction movie? Where? This guy couldn’t tell the truth if Jesus told him himself. Oliver STONED is an egotistical film maker. JFK was the worst. I had read much about the assasination of JFK and after watching STONED’s version I just shook my head and left, but felt sorry for those left behind who never checked the facts and came out saying, “this must be true, or why would they make a movie out of it.” He’s big friends with Castro and Huge[o] Chevez and probably any other little dictator out their. He’s pissed about the Vietnam war and is going to stick it to the Republicans as long as he can. Funny. It was a Democrat that got us in the damn thing and then a Republican who got us out. LIGHT it up, sorry . . . lighten up Oliver and try and make a movie people can enjoy and not be bitter about. Oh that’s right– YOU CAN’T.
yes! a completely honest historical picture of “W”! from oliver stone who NEVER would exagerate or make situations up.
i don’t think i will put money in stone’s pocket. much better things to do and i won’t be supporting another michael moore without the weight problem.
what is worse is that people will go to the movie, idiots like uncahal (many more than just that one), and SWEAR that what they saw must be true because they saw it in a MOVIE!
no need to wonder why obama is ahead in the polls when you see the comments here.
Nobody will go see this. They wasted the producers money for the sake of personal satisfaction and hatred.
Meanwhile, if Obama wins EVERY challenge of him will be labeled “racism”.
I wonder if re-education camps will have Directv? I know they’ll get MSNBC.
If Oiver’s previous movies are any indication of how good this film will be, let me just say ANY GIVEN SUNDAY and NATURAL BORN KILLERS – 2 pieces of crap. He will rip the current admin. and rip the country like his lefty elitist pals, but i’d like to see a movie of this nature be made in any other country in the world with out consequence.
Who does Oliver Stone think is protecting his freedoms, including the freedom to make such a dispicable leftist anti-Bush movie right before the election? Who does Stone think has prevented another 9/11? That would be W. I am sick of these Hollywood elites having no respect for our President. They would no doubt side with Iran before they would W.
Oliver Stone has been sliding downhill for years now.
I think he should move to France with all the other out of touch Libs.he would be better off making a Disney movie and it might actually make some money.
Oliver Stone has been sliding downhill for years now.
I think he should move to France with all the other out of touch Libs.he would be better off making a Disney movie and it might actually make some money. Anyone who is swayed politically by a movie or a Hollywierd star is a total loser anyway.Viva Chavez!
Just like the fairytale “JFK” this has nothing to do with reality. Of course, most people believe “JFK”. Of course, in reality the star witness in that New Orleans trial on which “JFK” is based testifies that his wife was a shape shifting alien from outer space. They kinda left that part out of the movie. Check the court transcripts.
Hey, how about a movie about Oliver Stone and all the sucking up he’s done to dictators over the years? Good thing Stalin is dead or he’d be over there telling us what a great guy he was.
A movie by Stone about Bush would be about as unbiased as a movie about Obama by Limbaugh.
Remember kids, it’s a movie just like “JFK” and “Road Warrior”; people makin’ stuff up.
I was looking forward to some tragic Shakespearean tragedy a la NIXON, lots of angst, quick cuts, grainy 16mm symbolic shots and a rousing John Williams score.
But I guess this flick is a satire.
Still worth seeing though, Oliver Stone political flicks are usually quite polished and entertaining, politics aside.
What these percentages don’t tell you is how many people have actually paid to see the crap. 80% of 10 is still only 8 people!
Who wants to see this? Anyone who wants to laugh at the most inept president in American history through satire. Too bad Bush himself wouldn’t understand it.
First off, Stone had his boots on the ground in Vietnam. That’s more than Bush or McPalin (asie from getting shot down multiple times). I respect Stone’s talent as a filmmaker and since it’s a MOVIE, he has the right to release it whenever he wants. Has anyone seen Primary Colors? Was that not released while Bill was in office? Why is the right wing so scared of this movie, you all elected him twice and none of this “information” in the movie is inaccurate!
PS – Bush is exactly what’s wrong with this country. Money buys you Yale and Harvard degrees, soon to be failing oil companies… all while the rest of us watch our 401k’s take a nose dive.
i find it hard to believe that only 80% of fandango people polled have seen an Oliver Stone movie.
I’ve seen the pre-release of the film.
One word: Flop
Two words: Not funny
Three words: Very poor acting
Four words: A waste of film
Whats really funny is all the lefties that will go see or rent this, they just can’t get enough.
Oliver Stone is rewriting history and the 20 somethings are too dumb to know the difference.
Because if it is on TV or in a movie, it MUST be true.
We have entered the Age where the Media write the history, not the people.
A prime example is the piece of trash miniseries on Ronald Reagan.
Well, I guess the Liberals win. They control the media and have successfully indoctrinated 2 generations.
Anyone older than 35, forget what you SAW. Forget about being a witness to history. Whatever you saw is incorrect if it doesnt jive with Oliver Stone or The NY Times.
I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could think Oliver Stone would do an accurate portrayal of a sitting President he has publicly bashed along with his Hollywood Liberal friends. Stone has sunk to the Michael Moore standards of Hollywood film making. Whatever happen to the “Wall Street” days?
This movie will be supported by Liberals and Obamaniacs.
Stupid Americans do not research anything on their own. They believe Michael Moore and his “Cut & Paste” lies and they believe Obama’s “Smoke & Mirrors”.
This is another self absorbed Hollywood Film that dipslays their hatred. I hope this film bombs, and it probably will.
This is Stone’s aatempt a payback because Bush got a graduated Harvard and he dropped out.
This will be another movie that all the Citizens of Saddam and Gamorrah (Hollywood) rave about give it all kinds of awards, even though the movie profits don’t cover the movie costs.
Just a note to all of you frustrated Republicans posting comments here because Drudge linked to it:
STOP WHINING. For a bunch of supposedly tough folks, all you do on blog after blog is whine about how terribly you’re treated by the eeeeeeeeeeeevil Liberal Media (guess what — both parties think the Media screws them over. The media has one interest in mind: their own, and it is a corporate interest).
If you don’t want to see the movie, fine. But Stone a traitor? It is un-American to critique the policy or tell the story of a sitting President? Really?
What kind of freaky locked-down Soviet-style country do you all want to live in? Yes, let’s have NO dissenting opinion, let’s have NO open discussions, let’s have NO tolerance of people different than us.
The Republican party is imploding, and as it shivers in its death throes, all we hear from conservative after conservative is how mean everyone is to them, and how terrible things will be if they don’t get their way this election cycle.
The Republican party has had its way with this country since 1980, and we are worse off now than we’ve ever been. The Reagan ideology has FAILED. Accept it, take it as an adult, and let’s figure out how to move on from here. Of if you can’t do that, then at least be quiet until your party has figured out what you stand for. Because right now you’re a mess of buzzwords and taglines that you throw out in elections, don’t follow through with when elected, and the American People have finally seen through it.
All you do now with your mewling is embarrass yourselves further.
No doubt “W” will tank at the box office. I smell an Oscar. Silly, silly leftists.
Let’s be real…the trailer sucks.
Go the this movie! Scream and yell a lot and anger the one smart liberal and about 40 too stupid to comprehend anything liberals in the theatre.
The only thing their pea brains will remember is that some asshole really pissed them off…..
I would rather watch paint dry, or grass grow. Ollie.
I plan to see “W” alone.
I also plan to eat three cans of re fried beans beforehand.
Can you imagine even standing in line for this type of drivel? The BO alone would scare anyone from the theater.
I feel bad for Bush, if you think about it, the president doesn’t have a ton of power, but the media tries to make it look like it was all Bush’s fault. I see it on TV all the time, it’s all about making fun of Bush and Texas. This movie is bull, go see An American Carol instead!!
It’s amusing to me that Hollywood still believes that most Americans care what they think.
This may be an amusing little film, but I doubt very much the accuracy of any of Stone’s works. The casting and makeup workers seem to have done a fine job though.
Oh yeah, Oliver Stone and ‘history.’ Let’s see – JFK was strongly anti-communist and was responsible for the Bay of Pigs. Lee Harvey Oswald was a known Marxist who spent years in the Soviet Union. But somehow, it just COULDN’T have been him who assassinated the great hero of the left – no – it HAD to have been RIGHT-WING conspirators who killed him. Makes perfect sense right? And that’s history, according to Oliver Stone.
I just love how you can tell exactly when this hit drudge
I am extremely disappointed with Bush and his administration over the last eight years. I am equally disappointed with Oliver Stone and the studio. It is inexcusable, irresponsible and in poor taste to release a film about a sitting president.
I expect W will be like JFK,a reasonably entertaining movie with only the most tenuous connection to reality. It should give conspiracy theorists a hard-on.
Free tickets to an Ollie Stone movie would still be too expensive; not worth the 2+ hours of my life, nor the neurons irretreviably lost to the memory of it.
Time would be better spent watching cars rust. At least there, you’d see a true version of events.
Daisy, Daisy, Daisy,
Do you really fail to see the difference between extramarital indiscretion, which really is only the business of a husband and wife, and killing thousands and thousands of people, including young American service men and women? Not to mention driving us all to the poor house.
You might not trust Bill Clinton not to hit on your daughter, but, at least he’s probably not gonna get her killed or take her house away.
Soldier’s Mom
It would be interesting to see, but I’ll wait till it’s on TV. I’m not giving Stone my money.
You have to take Oliver Stone’s movies with a large grain of salt. They are 75% non-factual, with 25% “based on fact” and 100% bias towards whatever Stone thinks.
As my dad used to say, he’s a “horse’s ass”.
Life sure is easy for Oliver Stone, he makes up whatever tripe he wants, makes a movie that everyone knows has nothing to do with reality, then everyone can’t wait to see it in order to find what’s wrong with it, kind of like playing “Where’s Waldo?”.
Why bother?
I don’t care what Oliver Stone dreamed last night. I don’t care what things look like in Oliver Stone’s fantasyland. I have better things to do than waste two hours of my life.
“UGLY PUNK GURL! – we impeached Clinton for a blowjob!” TYPICAL IDIOTS STILL THINK HE WAS IMPEACHED BECAUSE OF SEX. HE WAS IMPEACHED BECAUSE HE COMMITED PURGERY WHILE ON TRIAL FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT. HE LIED IN FRONT OF A GRAND JURY. LAST TIME I CHECKED YOU LIBERAL WEENIES GOT LIBBY PUT IN JAIL FOR THE SAME THING. CLINTON GOT OFF SCOTT FREE. CLINTON WAS ONLY THE SECOND PRESIDENT IN HISTORY TO BE IMPEACHED. FUNNY THING IS THE FIRST ONE WAS ALSO A DEMOCRAT. NIXON WAS NEVER IMPEACHED EVEN THOUGH THE “NO SO MAINSTREAM MEDIA” WANTS IT TO BE TRUE SO BAD THEY COMMIT JOURNALISTIC FRAUD EVERYTIME THEY SAY HE DID. THEY DREW UP ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT BUT THERE WAS NEVER A VOTE ON IT. SINCE THEY NEVER VOTED AND THERE WASNT A MAJORITY IN FAVOR OF IT THIS MEANS IMPEACHMENT DIDNT HAPPEN. IF YOU REMEMBER CORRECTLY CLINTON WAS IMPEACHED BY A MAJORITY VOTE IN THE HOUSE BUT THE SENATE VOTED IT DOWN. THIS MEANS HE WAS IMPEACHED IN THE HOUSE BUT NOT THE SENATE. NIXON WAS NEVER IMPEACHED. OH CLINTON ALSO WAS DIBARRED IN ARKANSAS AND BANNED FROM RENEWING HIS LAW LICENSE FOR 5 YEARS. I BET ALOT OF YOU EVER HEART THAT EITHER. OH BY THE WAY WHERE HAS EDWARDS BEEN? I NOTICED THE NSMM SWEPT HIS SCANDLE UNDER THE RUN DURING THE DNC. TYPICAL MEDIA ALWAYS COVERING UP FOR THE DEMOCRATS. PATHETIC!!

Hmmm… let’s see, yet another twisted liberal take on ‘reality’ that is, based on the trailers, poorly acted, poorly directed and while it appears to deal with some factual material, comes from a man not known for his grasp of reality.
No thanks… frankly, I haven’t seen anything that hollywood has put out in quite some time. I’m getting kind of tired of stupid people who think just because they’re good at pretending to be someone who is smart trying to tell me, SOMEONE WHO IS SMART, how I should live or what I should think.
Ugly punk girl, if we went to Iraq for oil why are we still payinh over $3.00 a gallon for oil! Try to look at the facts and use your brain and quit spouting out the same dull mantras.
I don’t want to see it. I’m no fan of George Bush but I have no interest in getting caught up in Us Versus Them politics either. The fact that this movie is being released while he’s still in office tells everything I need to know. It’s totally mean-spirited and is therefore no better than the problem it attempts to portray. George Bush is not the reason America is in this mess. George Bush is simply a reflection of the reasons America is in this mess.
I wouldn’t give a penny to this Bozo, to see his movie. Hope he enjoys losing his investment.
I think this movie looks great!! I will pay and bring my friends. I am not a conservative, redneck, reject hick who believes everything the U.S. government does is good and just. I don’t get angry when someone has the gall to question the leaders of this nation. I don’t think Oliver Stone could do much more to hurt the current administrations image…they have done all of the damage themselves (’Fool me once shame on you…Fool me twice…well…It’s not nice to fool people…’).
Get angry if you want!! Go buy big trucks and wave the flag of the good ‘ol USofA. Hoo-rah!! We’re the best country in the world!!!
Still…I am going to go and see it.
Hey RidleyGriff: your ignorance is showing.
In response to 2nd comment – it’s called satire! It’s not a big joke without a purpose – the purpose is between the lines, beneath the scenes, like EVERY Oliver Stone movie.
it’s called art. the fact that most of you posting on here are clearly upset or disturbed means that stone accomplished an important component of any work of art-making people react. it is brilliant to release this bio-drama while bush is still in office, it will set a new standard…treating the president as some sacred entity which musn’t be critically examined or presented in a satirical fashion is a reflection of the bush influence over this funny nation. ignorance is spreading like a disease and the fact that most of you are upset over this film just exposes that ignorance even further, where is your imagination, where is the willingness to explore the dimensions of social art? does the military program have you so conditioned to a dumb sports mentality? it is art people…
The irony is, Ollie Stone is to movie making, what George W is to being President. These two are made for each other…
I gotta tell ya, if Oliver Stone ever had an original creative idea, it would die of loneliness.
Interesting that the movie comes out right before the general election, if i want to see biased Bush bashing i will just turn on NBC, ABC CNN or MSNBC or any other mainstream media outlet and watch it for free.
>> [Bush] LIED and nobody has bothered to impeach him, but we impeached Clinton for a blowjob!
I don’t know what rock you’ve been hiding under, but Clinton was impeached for lying, not getting a blow job.
Furthermore, just because you SAY Bush lied, doesn’t make it true. As a matter of fact, its just as UNTRUE today as the day President Clinton, the entire Democratic congress, Britian, France, Russia, German, and Sadam Hussein himself, agreed that Iraq had WMDs.
Oliver Stone lied in every one of his movies. Remember how he deliberately distorted The Doors on the Ed Sullivan show scene? Why would anyone want to watch a movie of his that is less than 50 per cent truthful?
Bud
Another movie from Oliver “There’s A Conspiracy Under Every” Stone. I’m SURE this will be even-handed and fair (NOT!). Oliver Stone has tried to reinvent history over and over again, and he’s becoming less and less relevant. Hopefully, he’ll just fade into oblivion soon.
wonder what stone will name his Obama movie:
“O” No!
“O” Lord!
“O” Shit!
“O” God Help Us!
“O” What A Mistake!
“O” What A Disastor!
“O” Let’s Baring Barack “W”!
“O” Bama No Dali Lama!
“O” Bama I Want My Mama!
“O” Bama!(Based on a false story)
Just hope some of you people snap out of it before it’s too late. Obama is a fraud, he is covering up all his past and present associations and the media is helping him do it. Together with the media and a liberal congress, this country is going to be in some deep doodoo. Now is no time to be even thinking about giving away more money that we don’t even have! Obama has the solution to nothing. Obama will only make things worse. The only long term solution for our economic woes is to start now doing everything possible to make our nation energy independent asap. From building new nuclear plants, to allowing more offshore drilling, to opening up ANWAR to drilling, to developing more clean coal, to mining oil shale, to developing more wind & solar energy. Anyone opposed to any or all of the above doesn’t want what’s best for the country. We could create millions of high paying jobs if we got going on all these ways to produce energy.
What I love about liberals is, if you tell them enough they are poor, they believe they are poor, if you tell them enough that b HUSSEIN o is NOT a Muslim, they believe he is not a Muslim, if you tell them enough that he NEVER hear Rev Wright spew his vile sermons, then they belive he never heard it. If you tell them enough that b HUSSEIN o is being “smeared” they believe he is being smeared! And if Democrats tell liberals enough that George W. Bush was the worst president then liberals belive it because they arent smart enough to think on their own. They deserve a socialist b HUSSEIN o becuase they need to be slaves to him and follow what ever he says. I heard yesterday that every family with kids under 10 will get free Happy Meals for a year when b HUSSEIN o is elected !!!
If it sounds to good to be true..the duh
by the way xJONx, the Democrats did nothing but PREACH for MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS THAT SUDDAM HAD WMD’S……………DID YOU FORGET OR ARE YOU JUST STUPID ? MADELINE ALBRIGHT PREACHED IT, CLINTON PREACHED IT, SANDY BURGER PREACHED IT, GORE PREACHED IT, HILLARY PREACHED IT, NANCY PELOSI PREACHED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND IF YOU HAVE NOTICED, WE HAVE NOT HAD ONE ATTACK IN THIS COUNTRY AFTER 9/11.
Is there any other country on Earth where a private citizen can tear to shreds a sitting president without fear of reprocussions? I challenge Mr. Stone to make a documentary about Hugo Chavez and attempt to screen it in Venezuala.
WOW! How “edgy” and “original”…Hollywood lampooning a Republican. You know what they say…”when everyone thinks alike they probably are not thinking at all”. That sums up Hollywood and the leftist media. What a bunch of lemmings.
Ugly Punk Girl – you got it ass backwards. Clinton was impeached for LYING to a grand jury. I know truth sucks but that’s the truth: HE was impeached for lying – not the other guy. And do you know why? Because being wrong is not lying – it’s being wrong as were most of the members of congress – all wrong.
Americans Will Blow This Movie Off
Stone Did Not Have Balls To Put His Own Money – So HE LIED TO THE CHINESE TO USE THEIR MONEY
This is more of the propaganda by the left to try to steal the election.
ACORN + NBC + CNBC + MSNBS + NY TIMES + LA TIMES + CNN ++++++ The Liberal Media + The Hollywood Left WILL LOSE AGAIN
Barack Hussien Obama isafriend of AMERICAN TERRORIST BILL AKA WILLIAM AYERS
THIS MOVIE WILL BOMB LIKE BARACK ON ELECTION DAY!!!!
Democrat Leftists like Stone have collectively gone insane. He is nothing more than a Bolshevik operative seeking to tear down the institutions of his country to build a Communist totalitarian state.
This is sheer propoganda. Anyone who wastes their money to see this is stupid.
Stone will tear down the country and system that has given him the ability to become the wealthy movie mogul that he is. He wouldn’t give a nickel to support this nation, but he’s supporting the people who want to take every nickel you have to support their Political Correctness.
What a genius: betray your own country with the freedoms that were given to you.
Get a clue America: the Republicans believe in Free Speech, but the Marxist Leftists will shut down all dissent once they get into power.
Guaranteed.
Buy a ticket for sumit else, then sneak in to watch if you must see it, just dont give O.STONED the money.
How come no movie has been made about Clinton from a right wing perspective? He has many accomplishments. First President to be given a BJ by an intern just outside the oval office. First President to be impeached for lying under oath. First President to be accused of rape prior to being President. First President to have gotten away with multiple affairs while in elective office due to a sympathetic/pathetic National Press. Now that is a movie I’d go see.
I love it when people think the use of profanity hammers home their point!
That is a sad aspect of America today!
Many crazy liberals show their ignorance, time, and time again!
Another biased movie from Oliver Stonehead. What else is new? Zzzzzzzz!
I live in the real everyday world. I couldn’t care less what Hollywood is doing. People who live their lives thru Hollywood are emotionally and morally bankrupted! See “W” or don’t see “W”. Only Ollie wins!
I’d rather see an American Carol. Wouldn’t waste my time or money on Oliver Stoned.
LOL! I just love this quote from Mr Stone:
“We should look to Castro as one of the earth’s wisest people, one of the people we should consult.”
I think Stone is the one who’s “apish”.
Christ, Ollie you’re a fukcing idiot.
Why on earth would I want to see a movie about this man? He has ruined the country. We can’t be rid of him soon enough.
ART?!?!?! Child molestors cause an adverse reaction in people, but I don’t think anyone would consider what they do an art!!
I hope it goes into how he and his sick cabal were not elected without the Supreme Court overturning the Florida ruling to award the puppet with his big gig…
also: I hope it goes into his involvement in the 9/11 cover-up.
Good thing people who’ve looked into it know it was an inside job, sadly.
I hope it goes into W. involvement in the 9/11 Cover-Up.
The only people who will pay money to see an Oliver Stone or Michael Moore mockumentary reaminng a sitting president and his cabinet are hate-obsessed political junkies and “useful idiots”. Normal people do not find more than one or two political jokes in a row funny even on late night talk shows. Singing to the choir just makes the limosine liberals feel good about themselves, but hey, they can afford their little self-indulgences – for now, while its still a free country.
OLIVER STONE IS A BABY MURDERING SOCIALIST MUSLIM TERROSISTS!
PALIN/MCCAIN ‘O8
Oliver Stone is a piece of junk….period.
Stone’s “October Demise” … I’m withholding my $8.00+ and seriously doubt I’d rent it anytime in the future.
Anyone who pays to see this trash is an ass.
to “ugly punk girl”, and I’ll bet that’s a highly accurate description. Clinton LIED about the blowjob! So if that’s your only criterion for impeachment, what’s your point? Try reasoning and deep thought once in awhile—or how about simply compare and contrast. Ever take any courses in “Logic”? Didn’t think so, dumbass.
hell yea i want to have some laughs at the jackass W. I honestly beleivvvvvve he has a mindset of a 3 grader.
I believe the timing of the movie release is misstimed. Also u can’t tell one person’s biopic in 90minutes. Becouse that’s how Long W is. I read the Variety review. I expect this film not to make too much at the box office for a variety reasons. Plus expect this film to get some real criticism on the fact that it’s going to have a lot inaccuricies in it.
In fact some of the books written on Bush have been inaccurate from what I read too. Those books are historic snapshots nothing more. A serious historian presidental and others are going to give the last 8yrs aa real hard look.
You’ve got to have way too much time on your hands to go see an overly-produced, bloated SNL skit about a president that nobody likes anyway. I’d rather spend two plus hours reading a book that inspires me or watching a movie that actually has a message other than: “Aren’t you completely surprised that you still don’t like this president that nobody likes anyway?”
uncahal, you wrote, “JFK is a great film, people that still believe the official lies called The Warren Report are the same people that believe that 9/11 was caused by a dozen Saudie with box cutters.LoL.”
I’m sure that you also believe Nessie is in the local lake, aliens made the crop circles, and New Coke was a CIA plot. Don’t fret — you aren’t evil, you’re just an idiot.
I’d rather watch cowboy movie reruns on HBO. Or better yet, I’d rather watch my dog take a dump. Then I could wrap it in the New York Times and send it special delivery to Oliver Stoned.
I do not know what you people are talking about. There were a bunch of films mocking Clinton while he was in office. Primary Colors??
Comment by seth — October 13, 2008 @ 6:48 pm
Uhhhhhhhhh, are you seriously comparing these two movies? Primary Colors may have been about Clinton but Clinton was not mentioned and the name of it was not “Bubba”
Isn’t it obvious that “W” was never intended to be an entirely truthful telling of the Bush Presidency? However fair or unfair, it’s interpretive. I imagine Stone would admit as much.
Republicans will hate this film – not for it’s spin on truth, but because they circle the wagons on EVERYTHING that casts one of them in a negative light, much like a religious sect. Remember Republican hysteria on the eve of “Team America World Police”, expecting to be bashed? Same crying as here, only that film cast Democrats and celebrities in a negative light, so complaints ceased upon the film’s release.
xJONx – Bush & his Administration, lied repeatedly. Not about WMD – everyone thought they had WMD. Remember the inside threat to Air Force One on 911 (a tale we now know was preposterous). Or Cheney’s version of Richard Clarke’s job (outright lie). Mobile weapons labs (such a ludicrous reach), Cheney’s “insurgency in last throes” (as Iraq was going from awful to atrocious). How about the dozens of occasions that classified intelligence reports contradicted Bush statements? Or Conservative Columnist George Will criticizing the Bush Admin for the “Rhetoric of Unreality”, repeatedly painting Iraq in a false light. In ‘03, Bush cut steel tariffs he had enacted, saying they had worked. They hadn’t – the reason he revoked them, is enacting them in the first place was political suicide. Truthful?
All tangible examples. And if you’ve followed the last 6 years whatsoever, you’d be well aware that Cheney is quite possibly (perhaps justified) the least trusting of Iraqi intelligence of any of our 300 million citizens. The idea that Intel shaped his decision to go to Iraq in any way, is a lie, only a tough one to pin him down in.
I don’t have much an allegiance to either party, but in my opinion, the Bush Administration has lied as much as any group in or out of politics. And what they don’t lie about, they just get wrong.
In spite of ALL the evidence, if they & their minions keep telling us how they’re straight-shooters and followers repeatedly say “they didn’t lie!”…I guess they didn’t, right?
I will not see the movie and will not pay him any money directly.
I find Oliver Stone and his movies boring and not worth the effort of this discussion. I can’t believe that I just wasted my time posting this.
What a bunch of Garbage. We wonder what is wrong with our world today. when you have Hollywood putting out crap like this its n wonder. Did you know your hard earned tax dollars probably went to the making of this movie. I havent gone to the movis in years and this os just another reason to stay home and read a book. Fuck Oliver Stone. I voted for Clinton and Bush. How about a movie about Clinton tellig lies under oath. People forget to Quickly, Remember ol slick Wiliies defense…Ummm Its all in what the definition of “IS” IS ?? huh….what the hell…..Iraq was voted on and PASSED BY ALL OF CONGRESS>>>DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS alike. Remember they all sat in front of the white house and sang our national anthem together !! Now its finger pointing time. Dont listen to the trash on TV, get the facts ! Again screw hollywood…Only good thing to ever come out of HOLLYWOOD was RONALD REAGAN !
Wow! More fantasy from the cocaine-and-Viagra fueled “brain” of Oliver Stone. It is astonishing that anybody would give this has-been any money to finance another of his vanity projects.
I’m not sure which is the bigger turd….
1. The movie.
2. Oliver Stone.
3. Morons stupid enough to watch another political propaganda flick.
Wait…. all three are turds floating around in the cesspool of irrelevance.
What a waste of time and money. Ray Charles could see this story coming. Oliver Commie Stone will dump dung on the greatest president of the twentieth century. What a surprise. While Bush is protecting the miserable West Coast Wimps’ butts, the slime merchants will cast aspersions, slander, disrespect on the man who has almost single-handedly kept America safe from the Gang-bangers of the Middle East. And this is the thanks he gets.
ive got a great idea….lets have a lib producer a fist full of cash and see what we get.
You morons who think history began with your don’t have a clue about reality. The politically correct nanny state you’ve been raised in has produced a generation of conformist cry babies. Since mommie no longer changes your diapers, you expect the government to deal with your immature incontinence. You wimps care more about puppies and spotted owls than the unborn children you carelessly deign to murder. Oliver Stone’s self abuse, disguised as art, is your just dessert. Whine on weinies.
The movie is about W’s life from his 20s to now. You (the republican) voted for an ex-alcoholic who was saved by Jesus and then became president of united states. Which part of truth don’t you like? FYI: use of alcohol does shrink the brain size.
Who cares, Stone has not made a movie in years that was either historically correct or made a profit. Now he has money from china, so I can’t wait to see this thing flop.
Stone is the poster child for Hollywood idiots.
I will not bother to see “W.”, but it has caused me to write a non-fiction screenplay about a Liberal white woman, who gets dumped by a black goat-herder after he knocks her up. Then the Liberal white woman couldn’t find a doctor to abort the kid, so she dumps the kid on her parents and she takes-off too. Then the kid falls into the hands of a bunch of 1960s radical terrorists and they build him into the perfect Trojan horse candidate to get elected, by a dumbed-down public from years of attending Liberal government schools. They are welcomed and aided by the highly liberal MSM who wish to socialize the formally free country. They then team with ACORN, the radical underground anti-American organization that actively works to use election fraud to throw elections. So the fix was in. But, I don’t want to ruin the movie so you’ll just have to wait for opening. You’ll love the unique twist at the ending.
Stone is less relevant he will fade away, let us help him.DO NOT SEE HIS MOVIE MAKES NO MONEY AWAY HE GOES…
ugly punk girl is more like ignorant punk girl. he comments sound like leftist talking pints and skirt the facts
I wonder if Oliver Stone provides a accurate portrayal in his movie of how the liberal media and Hollywood elite did everything they could during this man’s presidency to destroy his credibility and undermine his leadership. Yeah right! Should we expect anything different than for a lib like Stone to to take one last shot at President Bush on the way out the door? President Bush, thank you for keeping us safe. I’m sorry these other idiots that couldn’t carry your jock strap don’t understand the number one role of a President, which is to keep his country safe. God Bless You.
I am a republican and I am disappointed in the Bush Administration. If I remember right just before Clinton’s 2nd term a movie was made about him (can’t remember the name) but it went away and so will this movie.
Let the people that see W-go see it. Let the people that won’t-not go see it. Then the cash reciepts will be solid proof. What more is there? Frankly it bores me
This is America, freedom of expression; so Hollywood has every right to produce what they want. HOWEVER, it is extremely disrespectful of our highest office in the U.S. to make a movie about a sitting president. And to politicize it by releasing it right before the election is equally disrespectful. No matter how you feel about President Bush, he is our president, the President of the United States of America. Where has DECENCY and RESPECT gone in this country? Don’t go see it, don’t support that kind of disrespect.
This film was touted at its inception as NOT being a hit piece – but an honest effort at depicting Bush fairly… of course having left-wing extremists in all the lead roles ensured that wouldn’t happen. Just watching the trailers is enough to show multiple pieces of disinformation. Did Stone portray Bush’s absolute honesty or high intelligence? No, just the untrue media bias calling him a liar and a dullard.
If Stone wanted to make money, he could have done an honest job. It would have infuriated the Left – but actually made a profit.
Someone posted that they, ” would like to see a movie about the worst president in the history of the United States “. As a Georgian, I AGREE !
ANSWER ME HOLLYWOOD !!
Why has Jimmy Carter been so neglected in the movies ?! HA !
Stone is a pretentious twit….I’d rather stick a needle in my eye than sit through one of his junk movies…
Even if I was paid, I wouldn’t see this Obama Campaign ad. Bill – you’re an idiot. Next to Carter, Obama will be teh worst president in the hostory of teh country – then again the country will be changed to Socialist! Schmucks!
I can’t wait to see what movie Oliver Stone puts out eight years from now. Let me guess, something like “Welcome to Communist States of America with Love from Obama”!
This movie is an act of treason. Oliver Stone should be put in jail for putting this type of trash out during a time of war. We ether stick together and win or be devided and loose all of our freedoms.
Can’t wait to see it. Interest in this latest Oliver Stone seems to be higher that any before, and I believe thinking people will enjoy seeing the life story of such a great president brought to the big screen. See you at the theatre!
I wonder how many people really care about a movie about the worst president in the US. We all want to get away from this bad nightmare we have been living with for the last 8 years.
Oliver Stone is nothing more then a current day Johh Wilkes Booth, who uses a camera instead of a handgun to destroy a president he can’t stand.
Stone has already said out his own mouth that this is more or less a fictional account. Anyone who takes this movie as more than entertainment is an idiot.
I’ll probably see this movie but it looks like it was done totally half ass just to get it out in time for the election.
I’m a Libertarian for the record and loath today’s intolerant liberals.
this dufus hasn’t made quality films in ages. he’s boring. liberals are boring. it will bomb like all liberal movies bomb. more trash written by trash-value liberal lowlifes. you people are broken

They’ve made a film about Jimmy Carter?
Does anyone know who financed this movie? Can you say CHINESE? So now we have a communist finance company backing up a story about an American president. What is this world coming too?
yet ANOTHER Liberal “HIT” piece from oliver stone and hollywood, the movie is not based on anything but HATE! it will be a box office failure.. but, HEY thats enough for another Oscar!
History will be very kind to GWB in the long run and he will be noted one of the top 3-4 presidents of the last 50 years for his contribution to keeping the world freer of the dangers of Islamic extremism. Stone’s hatchet job will be on CD in two weeks and won’t sell even then. You heard it here first.
Why would I bother wasting $10 to see this obvious hit piece? I can goto daily kos or any number of whacko leftist websites and get this kind of “objectiveness”…
Tens of thousands dead here and overseas, trillions of dollars borrowed and gone and all of that in less than 8 years.
What can you do but laugh?
I would never pay to see anything about george “the sock puppet” bu$h.
I hope the movie is a flop just like the last 8 years of bu$h.
Stoned is another over-grown 60 year old teenager still rebelling against his parents.
Like most of the Left, the only way they can argue a point is to avoid facts and reality and make up fantasies about how the world works (i.e Communism). And the drugs certainly make it easier.
You shouldn’t wonder why Obama will win. Hollywood is one side of the iron triangle. The Left controls the media, academia and the legal profession (notice they’re all “industries” composed of elites that produce no tangible product). What else would you need to keep the welfare recipients, government workers, senile retirees, and student dopes in your pocket? Oh what a coincidence, they’re all unproductive parasitic sectors of the society also, how strange.
I’m looking forward to seeing this film…can’t wait!!!
Truthfulness in telling a story is not one of Stones qualities. First he finds a story worth telling, then Stone takes a lie and builds on it. Oliver Stone is not a historian!
I hate to spill the secret but what the heck….
In the movie we will finally learn
G.W. was the shooter on the grassy knoll.
Thanks for clearing that up Oliver.
Everyone already has an opinion about W. The movie is a waste of time because it will not shed any revelations that will make us ponder how we as Americana voted not once but twice for the fool. The best the movie will do is make us feel sorry for him to explain his behavior, much like watching a video on how Saddam got bad parenting as a child that also turned him into a war criminal. I’m with punky girl. The man turned America upside down at a time when it had just begun to make fiscal prudence. I agree a satical movie about Clinton would amuse and not enrage.
When future generations of Americans (unless we are called Chinamerics by then) will look back at Bush’s lone decision to lead us into a war, invading a country with no plan for no documented reason, all the while the financial aspects of this country were going to pot. While the next president will erroneously try and spend our way out of the problem inherited from the 8 year run of the current fool. Neither candidate can be compared to the current goof in office. The movie is a sideshow, and cannot and should not sway any votes. You should ignore it and ignore it because it is written by Oliver Stone who has his own agenda, and looks to profiteer of his hatred of conservatives.
The movie is 4 years too late. It should have been released before the republican convention in 2004.
If Gore had just not been a bore…..
At best, this movie can be described as satire. I mean, come on, are we to take Oliver Stone seriously? He prior two satires, JFK and Nixon, were both works of fiction. I am sure this will be no different. The major difference is many in the audience, who have Bush Derangement Syndrome, will say this is a masterpiece worthy of the Best Picture Oscar. I only wonder why Oliver Stone didn’t make a similar movie about the second president ever to be impeached in American history, Bill Clinton. Oh, yeah, Clinton is a Democrat. Oliver Stone is a joke. This movie will flop, just like all of the other far-left movies to come out over the last few years. You know, all of those anti-Iraq war movies? All of them lost millions because people do not want to pay to watch our great country ridiculed on the big screen.
I really think you could have found a better actor to play the President. josh is just such a louzy actor
Well, Michael Moore hit us with that crapterpiece Fahrenheit 9/11 right before the last election and that backfired so maybe Stone can repeat that result. The only people that can lose the election for the Dems this year are Dems and I have complete faith that they will do everything possible towards that end.
Always interesting to see a bunch of republican dumbassas defending the only “president” (I still call him Governor Bush… that is the highest elected office he’s held to date) in our country’s history who cannot read, write, or even speak fluently, who has failed at every venture he’s ever entered into, and who has brought this nation to its knees economically, morally, and socially. Yet, if he capped it all off by walking into Golden Corral and taking a shit on the salad bar, his followers would say it was “endearing”.
I haven’t been to a movie theater in over twenty years, but I’ll be there when the door opens on this one!
Bush has been a comedy for sixty-one years of his life and to have the main parts compressed on the screen will be great!
Over the years Stone has lost all credibility as a film maker. His latest work is just another example of that. This film will not sway anyone. If you hate Bush, this movie is nothing more than a comedy. If you support President Bush, it is nothing more than a film that will quickly disappear shortly after opening. Either way, Oliver Stone has made it clear that he is not relevant any more.
I have no intention of watching this Angry Left propoganda. Message for Oliie: You’re about five years late hitching a ride on the Farenheight 911 train.
I probably won’t pay to see it but I’m sure that it will be on cable soon enough. Personaly I like Stone’s movies and as far as a point of view, I don’t mind seeing his and think I am smart enough to know what is true and accurate and what isn’t. I personaly think Bush is an idiot and can plainly see that he’s a coward. You hear politicians say Americans are smart, personaly I disagree I think their fat and stupid and electing this moron twice is proof.
It’s just a shame that the last eight years haven’t been enough for the liberals. They’ve unmercifully attacked G.W. and called him just about everything from a warmonger to a dumbass frat boy.
Let me tell you something. A person does not graduate Yale, then go on to Harvard and complete work there with their fathers having to “buy their grades.” There have been far richer families than the Bushes who have tried to do that and failed. These schools might be bastions of liberal bullshit, but they’re honest bastions of liberal bullshit.
Then, he went on to fly fighters in the Texas National Guard. Let me fill some of you in right now. Dumbasses do not do that. It’s dangerous, even in peacetime, and doubly so in wartime, when the training missions are much more frequent.
Now, it seems like there is no John McCain, if you listen to the O’Bammy campaign. There is only George W. Bush this, and George W. Bush that. He’s a lame duck. He can’t run for re-election, but you wouldn’t know that to listen to them.
Add to all of the above the fact that Oliver Stone couldn’t even wait until he was out of office to character assassinate him, thereby giving O’Bammy all the help that he could, and you come up with a pretty pitiful display of human nature.
I won’t be wasting my money on “W,” because I’ve seen some of Oliver Stone’s work. Unfortunately, I did what Mr. Stone never can seem to be able to do; I read a history book.
During WWII Oliver Stone would have been charged with sedition for doing this to the Commander In Chief during war time. Wow, how far we have allowed our patriotism to slide in this country. This is war time folks, our enemy uses this stuff as recruitment material. What an abuse of the 1st Ammendment! Just because you can say it doesn’t mean its a good time to do so. Of course, this is the “ME ONLY” generation we are living in.
This guy is so far left, next he will be doing a movie glorifying Stalin. Hollywood is getting out of control with the political commentary — it’s making our industry out to be a joke.
Who bloody cares for a movie about the most idiotic, stupid, pathetic, and a moron?
I don’t! Stone should just retire. Seems like he is no longer the kind of director he once was, just like Ridley Scott and CLint Eastwood. These old geezers shelf-life has long expire yet Hollywood still funding their productions
As for the movie itself, do I want to pay to watch a so-called President that is incpmpetence? Hell no!
Nothing like blaming bush for everything. At least I am not ashamed to admit I voted for him twice. Whether you realize it or not some one needed to pay for 9-11. God know it would have been better if we made india pay. but you win some you loose some. And the movie probably sucks anyway.
Chuck said: Also u can’t tell one person’s biopic in 90minutes.
Chuck you doofus, the film is 128 minutes long. Did you read the Variety review?!
Oliver Stone is working on a movie about nuclear power!
To hell with Oliver Stone. Ron Howard can go to hell with him. Those two are sooo over the top with their communist propaganda it makes me sick. Someone should do a movie about Oliver Stone in Vietnam. Depicting Oliver Stone paying off an Army clerk to write up a fake Purple Heart citation…of course, there is no evidence of this, but there is also no evidence of the SLANDER he committed against President Bush in the movie “W”. Stone needs a taste of his own slanderous medicine and he should be ashamed of himself. Oh, and almost the entire cast of that movie have criminal convictions for drug possession, DUIs or domestic violence. I researched it myself. Hypocrites!
