EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Bacon‘s break from Fox’s The Following just got busier. Most actors try to fit in a project while on TV hiatus, but the Golden Globe winner is making the most of his down time with a three-film summer. He’s joined the cast of WB’s untitled Black Mass project opposite Johnny Depp as notorious Irish mobster Whitey Bulger, whose relationship with FBI agent John Connolly allowed him to evade law enforcement and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history. Bacon will play Charles McGuire, the FBI Special Agent in charge of the Boston field office and John Connelly’s boss. Scott Cooper is at the helm for a summer shoot in Boston with a cast that includes Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Sienna Miller, Dakota Johnson, Rory Cochran, Julianne Nicholson, and Adam Scott.

Meanwhile, Bacon has been dancing under the radar in Colorado filming Cop Car, an indie thriller from director Jon Watts (The Fuzz, Eugene!). Pic tracks a police officer hunting down the two kids who stole his car for a joyride – unaware that there’s a dead body in the trunk. Matt Walsh has been cast in 6 Miranda Drive, the microbudget thriller from Blumhouse Productions starring Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell. In the pic from writer-director Greg McLean, Walsh will play Gary Carter, is a guy’s guy who is quick with a bad joke and a cold beer. He and his wife join the Taylor family on their summer camping vacation to the Grand Canyon; after the trip, the Taylors unwittingly bring a supernatural force home with them. Pic stars Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell in the tale of a family that returns home from a Grand Canyon vacay with a supernatural force in tow. Fry has been cast as Stephanie, the family’s bright and introverted teenage daughter. Fellow Aussie Greg McLean (Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek 2) wrote and is directing the Blumhouse pic which Universal is set to distribute. EXCLUSIVE: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ming-Na Wen (The Joy Luck Club, Stargate, ER) has joined the cast of 6 Miranda Drive, the microbudget thriller that’s ramping up from genre specialists Blumhouse Productions. Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell are set to star in the film about a family that unwittingly brings a supernatural force home with them from their vacation to the Grand Canyon. Wolf Creek and Wolf Creek 2 helmer Greg McLean wrote and is directing the pic, which will be distributed by Universal under the studio’s first-look deal with Blumhouse. Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse alongside Matt Kaplan of Chapter One and Bianca Martino of Emu Creek Pictures. Wen is currently a series regular on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. superhero show. She’s repped by Innovative Artists and KLWGN Entertainment.
Jack Kilmer has been cast in Len & Co., an indie drama from director Tim Godsall. The pic follows a surly record producer who embarks on a journey to compassion and love when his son (Kilmer) arrives at his home in hopes of reconnecting and bonding with his father. Juno Temple plays the son’s music protege friend. Production begins this weekend in Toronto. Kilmer made his feature debut in Gia Coppola’s Palo Alto, which co-stars his father Val Kilmer. He is repped by Principato Young Entertainment, Resolution Entertainment and Hirsch, Wallerstein, Hayum, Matlof and Fishman.
David Mazouz has booked a role in 6 Miranda Drive, the Blumhouse thriller directed by Greg Mclean. Kevin Bacon stars in the film about a family that unwittingly brings a supernatural force home with them from vacation. Mazouz starred on Fox’s Touch and will play young Bruce Wayne in the network’s Batman prequel Gotham. He recently finished shooting Blumhouse’s Incarnate with Aaron Eckhart and next appears in The Games Maker. The actor is repped by Paradigm, Intellectual Artists Management and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
