Daniel Bernhardt (The Matrix Reloaded) has been added to the cast of revenge action thriller John Wick. Directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, the film stars Keanu Reeves as the title character, a former hitman. After a thug named Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen), and his friends steal John’s car and in the process kill the dog given to him by his late wife, he tracks the thieves to New York. But Tarasov’s father Viggo (Michael Nyqvist), a wealthy and vicious Russian crime boss, puts a large bounty on John’s head, which Marcus (Willem Dafoe), an old “friend” of Wick’s, is determined to collect. Bernhardt, currently seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, plays Kirill, a formal Russian military commander who is Viggo’s henchman.
Dan Fogler and Steve-O have joined the cast of RKO’s Barely Lethal. The Kyle Newman-directed action comedy produced by Brett Ratner stars Hailee Steinfeld as a 16-year old international assassin who fakes her own death in pursuit of a “normal” adolescence. Fogler plays Mr. Drumm, a popular high school teacher who takes a special interest in his students’ lives. His credits include Fanboys, Hannibal and voice roles in Free Birds, Kung Fu Panda and Mars Needs Moms. EXCLUSIVE: MGM‘s If I Stay has added Joshua Leonard (Humpday) as the drama heads into production next week. Leonard just wrapped another pic for MGM, the Jason Blum and Ryan Murphy-produced horror The Town That Dreaded Sundown. He joins If I Stay playing Denny, the ex-punk rocker dad to Chloe Grace Moretz‘s Mia, a 17-year-old classical music prodigy who’s forced to choose between life and death after an accident kills her entire family. The Killing‘s Mireille Enos is onboard as Mia’s mother in the Gayle Forman bestseller adaptation which R.J. Cutler is directing. Leonard’s upcoming projects include HBO’s True Detective and the Polsky Brothers’ The Motel Life. In early 2014 he’ll direct Behold My Heart from his own co-written script. Leonard is repped by Silver Lining Entertainment and Bob Myman.
Project X‘s Thomas Mann has joined the cast of RKO’s Barely Lethal, opposite Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba, Sophie Turner, and Samuel L. Jackson. EXCLUSIVE: Sophie Turner is continuing to make inroads in a film career, joining Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba and Samuel L. Jackson in Barely Lethal. Kyle Newman directs the action comedy written by John D’Arco that centers on a 16-year-old assassin (Steinfeld) who fakes her own death in pursuit of a “normal” adolescence. RKO Pictures, Hopscotch Pictures and Brett Ratner’s Rat Entertainment produce. Turner will play an undercover agent who enrolls in high school to help capture the teen. Turner, who has played Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game Of Thrones since the series’ inception, is making her feature film debut starring in Isabel Coixet’s supernatural thriller Another Me, the Fox International pic that has a berth at next month’s Rome Film Festival. She is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group.
Samuel L. Jackson will star with Hailee Steinfeld in RKO Pictures’ Barely Lethal, the Brett Ratner-produced pic that’s being directed by Kyle Newman. From a script by John D’Arco, the action-comedy sees a 16-year old international assassin fake her own death in pursuit of a “normal” adolescence. Jackson will play the girl’s former employer who seeks her out in the small rural town where she’s trying to deal with high-school. Highland Film Group is handling international sales in Cannes with principal photography starting in the fall. RKO Pictures, Hopscotch Pictures and Rat Entertainment produce. Jackson and Steinfeld are repped by ICM Partners.

Steinfeld, nominated for an Oscar for True Grit, plays Megan, who is raised at a boarding school that trains children to be assassins. She has a quirky sense of humor but is clueless about normal life, so when she relocates to a small rural town she discovers dealing with high school is just as hard. Ratner and John Cheng of Rat Entertainment are producing with RKO and Hopscotch Pictures’ Sukee Chew. Steinfeld, who is getting the Female Star Of Tomorrow Award tonight at CinemaCon, just booked Tommy Lee Jones’ period Western The Homesman and stars in Julian Fellowes’ adaptation of Romeo & Juliet.
