Relativity Makes Two-Year Production Deal With Channing Tatum

Mike Fleming

(Beverly Hills, CA) December 3, 2010 – Relativity Media announced today it has closed a production deal with actor Channing Tatum and producing partner Reid Carolin’s unnamed production company.

The studio has worked with Tatum on the films Dear John, Fighting, and Haywire. The production pact is for two years and allows Relativity the opportunity to partner on projects that the company develops.

“Channing is an immensely talented actor and incredibly enthusiastic about finding material to produce with Reid. We look forward to working with the two of them over the coming years,” said Relativity’s President of Worldwide Production, Tucker Tooley.

The production company’s first project, which is not part of this new deal, Ten Year, about a high school reunion, starts production in December in New Mexico. Directed by Jamie Linden, writer of Dear John and We Are Marshall, the film stars Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Kate Mara, Brian Geraghty, Chris Pratt and Justin Long. The company’s other projects in development include Contortionist’s Handbook with Greenestreet Films, What’s Left of Us and 11 Minutes. Channing Tatum will next be seen in a comedic turn in Universal’s The Dilemma, followed by his starring role in the Focus Features Roman epic adventure, The Eagle. He will also star in Sony’s The Vow with Rachel McAdams, and he will star opposite Al Pacino and Katie Holmes in Dito Montiel’s Son of No One which will

Channing Tatum Has ‘Ten Year’ Feature Itch

Mike Fleming

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s an early peek at a director’s test done by Dear John and We Are Marshall scribe Jamie Linden for Ten Year, an ensemble feature film he has written about a 10-year high school reunion. The short features such familiar faces as Channing Tatum, Kate Mara, The Hurt Locker‘s Brian Geraghty, and Haylie Duff. Other twentysomething actors who are circling roles in the four other story lines for the feature include Anna Faris, Chris Pratt and Justin Long. The picture is being put together by Twilight Saga producers Temple Hill, and they are currently shopping the director’s test to get financing for  Linden to make his directing debut. Temple Hill worked with both Linden and Tatum in Dear John, and Tatum and his 33 And Out partner Reid Carolin have been very involved in the Ten Year effort. I’m told that several financiers and distributors are angling, but that if the right deal doesn’t materialize, Temple Hill may cash flow the picture as it did for the Dan Rush-directed Everything Must Go, the $5 million Will Ferrell-starrer which got a distribution deal with Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
