Crackle Inks First-Look Deal With ‘Chosen’ Creators Ben Ketai & Ryan Lewis

Ben1lewis1EXCLUSIVE: Under the first-look deal, Chosen creators/EPS Ben Ketai (Beneath) and Ryan Lewis (Fat Kid Rules The World) will develop additional scripted projects for the multi-platform entertainment network. Sony-owned Crackle announced in December it had greenlit Chosen for a third season. Star Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) is returning and Rose McGowan (Charmed) has boarded the project as new character Josie Acosta. Sarah Roemer, Brandon Routh, and Caitlin Carmichael also will be back for the six-episode third season which will premiere at once later this year on the digital network. Milo Ventimiglia produces alongside Ketai and Lewis. The Crackle agreement is with Ketai and Lewis’ production company, APA-repped Dissident Pictures. APA brokered the deal along with Lewis’ attorney, Paul Miloknay.

Rose McgowanRose McGowan plays new character Josie Acosta, a suburban mom and experienced hunter Josie Acosta the third season of Sony-owned Crackle‘s original series Chosen.

“I do like to kill people,” McGowan said of her attraction to the role — enough to bring her back to series TV. “I specialize in somebody who doesn’t f*** around,” she said, calling that the overarching curve of her career. “These guys have created that kind of role for me. I’ve shied away from television for a long time.” McGowan said when she got the script she did not know what Crackle was “because I watch the classic movie channel.”  But when she saw the series her response was, “this is bad-ass. What I love is action and smart action, and they don’t always go hand-in-hand. It’s smart, not just grunting and pointing (a gun). It’s cerebral — and then I get to kill people. That’s always a win for me.”

Last month Sony-owned Crackle greenlit original series Chosen for a third season, two days before the series’ Season 2 debut, continuing the story of Ian Mitchell (Milo Ventimiglia) and his family. Crackle Renews ‘Chosen’ For Third Season

Sony-owned Crackle has greenlit originalChad Michael Murray series Chosen for a third season. The announcement comes two days before the series’ Season 2 debut on Thursday which continues the story of Ian Mitchell (Milo Ventimiglia) and his family. Season 2 goes deeper into the deadly game the Mitchells were swept into and follows the lives of others who also received mysterious boxes forcing them to kill – or else. Ventimiglia exec produces alongside series creators Ben Ketai and Ryan Lewis of Dissident Pictures. Production on Season 3 begins December 17 in Los Angeles for a 2014 premiere on the digital network. Ben Ketai, Ryan Lewis and Dissident Pictures are repped by APA and Circle of Confusion.
