Christine Woods has been tapped as the female lead in NBC’s single-camera comedy pilot Two To Go, from Universal TV and studio-based David Janollari Entertainment and Jason Bateman‘s Aggregate. Written by Bryan Shukoff & Kevin Chesley and directed by Craig Zisk, the project centers on longtime best friends Kurt and Laura (Woods), who grapple with the challenges of modern-day dating while their group of friends try and prove that they are destined to be together. Woods, coming off a breakout starring turn on the HBO comedy Hello Ladies, fielded multiple pilot offers. Her choice, Two To Go, brings her back to NBC where she recurred on comedy Go On last season and previously played a lead on Perfect Couples. Woods, repped by Gersh, Emery Entertainment, and Melissa Rogal, is set to reprise her role as Jessica on the upcoming hourlong Hello Ladies special, which is set to wrap up the show’s storyline in lieu of a second season.
EXCLUSIVE: After a lengthy casting process, Christine Woods (FlashForward) has landed the female lead opposite Stephen Merchant in Hello Ladies, HBO’s comedy pilot co-written, directed by and starring Merchant. The project stars the 6′-7″ Merchant as Stephen, a gawky Englishman searching for the woman of his dreams in Los Angeles. Half as charming as he thinks he is — and twice as desperate — he’s obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous world of beautiful people. Unfortunately the beautiful people won’t let him in. I hear Woods will play Jessica, an occasional actress who rents Stephen’s guest house from him. She denies that there is any chemistry between them and always gives Stephen a hard time in a light-hearted way. In the pilot, Woods joins recently cast Nate Torrence and Kevin Weisman.
Jay Karnes has booked a four-episode arc on new ABC submarine drama Last Resort. Karnes, repped by Greene & Associates, will play Secretary of Defense William Curry, a shadowy figure who may be behind the attack on the USS Colorado. Karnes will next be seen in the pilot for USA’ Graceland.
Christine Woods is set for a guest arc on NBC’s new comedy Go On, about a guy (Matthew Perry) recovering from the death of his wife with the help of a support group. Woods, repped by Gersh and Emery Entertainment, will play his dead wife in flashbacks. She most recently starred in the NBC multi-camera pilot Daddy’s Girls this past season.
Tim Griffin (NBC’s Prime Suspect) has been cast in a recurring arc on USA Network’s spy drama Covert Affairs. Griffin, repped by Pakula/King and Untitled, will play Seth Newman, a former field operative-turned-lawyer who will work for the CIA’s Office of the Inspector General and who has a history with Joan Campbell (Kari Matchett).
