I’m not sure why MyNetworkTV announces a fall schedule since the “programming service” has no original programming and its lineup only includes reruns of five procedurals – Law & Order: SVU, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Burn Notice and Monk — which will run as a double-bill Monday-Friday next season. Anyway, here is the schedule: Read More »

RATINGS RAT RACE: CBS’ ‘Big Brother’ Up, ABC’s ‘Scoundrels’ Hits Another Low

We might have seen the last episode of Scoundrels on Sunday after ABC’s original scripted drama sunk to a 0.6 rating/2 rating in adults 18-49 at 9 PM last night, down 14% from last week. That was an all-time low for the show and matched the 0.6 18-49 rating fellow ABC drama Happy Town pulled before being yanked from the schedule. ABC’s other Sunday scripted summer series, The Gates (0.9/3) at 10 PM, seems to have leveled off after the initial decline and was flat from last week. ABC’s highest-rated program for the night was 7 PM leadoff America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.4/5 in rerun), followed by 8 PM anchor Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (1.2/4, also in rerun). CBS’ Big Brother (2.5/8) was up 9% from last week, followed by repeats of Undercover Boss (1.4/4) and Cold Case (0.8/3). Fox won the night with comedy reruns, led by back-to-back Family Guy episodes at 9PM (2.3/7) and 9:30PM (2.5/7). Its original Sons of Tucson at 7PM tied Scoundrels as the lowest-rated program of the night. Fox still won the night in adults 18-49. NBC aired all-repeats, with an America’s Got Talent (1.0/3) encore winning the 9-11 PM time period.

RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Big Brother’ Tops Sunday While Original Scripted Shows Falter

Nellie Andreeva

By the summer ratings math – you have multiple shows average just over 1.5 rating in adults 18-49, you win the night – Fox topped Sunday night with comedy repeats led by The Simpsons (1.7 rating/6 share in 18-49), The Cleveland Show (1.5/5) and Family Guy (1.7/5).

The network also aired an original Sons of Tucson (0.7/2), which finished last in its 7PM slot just like all the other original scripted shows last night: ABC’s Scoundrels (0.8/2) at 9PM, down 20% from its last original 2 weeks ago, and ABC’s The Gates (1.0/3) at 10PM, down a more modest 9%. Scoundrels also squandered a large chunk of its Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (1.3/4) lead-in.

CBS’ first Sunday edition of Big Brother (2.3/7, 10 million viewers overall) was by far the highest-rated program of the night while dipping 8% from its Thursday season premiere. But CBS followed with lower-rated drama repeats of The Mentalist (1.0/3) and canceled Cold Case (1.1/3), allowing Fox to take the 18-49 crown for the night with a 1.4/4. CBS was second in 18-49 (1.3/4) and tops in total viewers, 6.4 million.

Meanwhile, on the heels of its first major Emmy nominations on Thursday, Friday Night Lights (1.0/4, 3.7 million viewers) on Friday averaged its largest audience on NBC in five weeks.
