EXCLUSIVE: Scott Bakula is set as the lead of NBC’ multicamera comedy pilot Table For Three (form. Daddy’s Girls). The project, written by Dana Klein and directed by Pam Fryman, centers on Pen (Christine Woods), a responsible, guarded, brilliant but emotionally challenged Harvard Medical School graduate who just returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders to discover that her beloved dentist dad, Robert (Bakula), has become engaged to Pen’s high school classmate Holly (Nicky Whelan) – a 29-year-old bubbly blonde who happens to be the “mean girl” in high school. 20th Century Fox TV is producing, with Klein and Aaron Kaplan executive producing. EXCLUSIVE: Former Heroes star Ali Larter just landed another kick-ass role — the lead in The Asset, Josh Friedman’s spy drama pilot for Fox. The project, from 20th TV, centers on Anna King (Larter), a photojournalist well known for her photographs of “hot spots” around the world, but that is only a cover for her real job for the CIA as a globe-trotting “Human Intel Specialist.” Neil Burger is directing. It has been a great week for the Larter household — her husband, Hayes MacArthur, was cast in the Fox comedy pilot Rebounding yesterday. Both projects are at 20th TV.

Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass) has landed the second female lead in NBC’s multicamera comedy pilot Daddy’s Girls. Christine Woods To Star In NBC Pilot ‘Daddy’s Girls’, ‘Friday Night Dinner’ Adds 3

Christine Woods (FlashForward) has landed the female lead in NBC’s multicamera comedy pilot Daddy’s Girls. The project, from writer Dana Klein, 20th Century Fox TV and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, centers on Pen (Woods), a responsible, guarded, brilliant but emotionally challenged Harvard Medical School graduate who just returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders to discover that her beloved dentist dad, Robert, has become engaged to Pen’s high school classmate Holly –a 29-year-old bubbly blonde who happens to be the “mean girl” in high school. Also cast is Brenda Song (The Suite Life On Deck) as Holly’s best friend Cricket. This marks Woods’ return to NBC where she starred in the comedy series Perfect Couples. She is with Gersh and Emery Entertainment.

Kevin Bigley, Gil Ozeri, and Aya Cash round out the cast of Greg Daniels’ single-camera comedy pilot Friday Night Dinner. The single-camera project, based on the British format, centers on a quirky family that has dinner together every Friday night. Bigley will play one of the older son Paul who is a little immature and sells batteries over the Internet. Ozeri will play Paul’s younger brother Gary, an aspiring songwriter writing jingles for an ad agency. Cash will play the boys’ cousin who recently moved back into town. Allison Janney and Tony Shalhoub were previously cast as the Paul and Gary’s parents. Veterans James Burrows & Pamela Fryman Tapped For Double Pilot Directing Duty

Veteran multi-camera directors James Burrows and Pamela Fryman, always sought after for pilots, have booked two pilots each after each fielded several offers. Mike & Molly director/executive producer Burrows will direct two CBS comedies: the untitled Greg Malins/Greg Berlanti project, which just cast JoAnna Garcia Swisher as the the female lead, and Max Mutchnick and David Kohan’s Partners. Both pilots hail from Warner Bros TV, where Emmy-winner Burrows is based. The Malins/Berlanti project centers on Nick, who has a health scare and realizes that Wendy (Garcia Swisher), his best friend and business partner of 15 years, is “the one”. Now he has to figure out how to break it to her. Mutchnick and Kohan’s Partners is a personal story of two lifelong friends and business partners — one straight and one gay. This is the latest collaboration between Burrows and Mutchnick/Kohan; ICM-repped Burrows has directed most of the duo’s pilots going back to their NBC hit Will & Grace. Read More »
