Greg Grunberg And Diane Farr To Star In USA Comedy Pilot ‘Divide & Conquer’

By | Friday July 12, 2013 @ 3:00pm PDT

Greg Grunberg and Diane Farr will topline the USA Network comedy pilot Divide & Conquer, an original half-hour project from executive producer/writer Peter Ocko. USA greenlighted the Divide & Conquer pilot in May on the heels of the network making its first comedy series orders in 15 years with Sirens and Playing House and greenlighting another half-hour pilot, Love Is Dead. The original comedies are slated to premiere in first-quarter 2014 as eventual companions to Modern Family; among the newbies, Divide & Conquer is the only true family comedy that could go well with the massive off-network acquisition, which debuts September 24. Produced by Universal Cable Prods, Divide & Conquer gets into the heads of a big family: four children finding their way to adulthood in these complicated times and the parents whose lives they’re sucking dry to get there. Grunberg and Farr will play the parents: Evan is a daydreamer-turned-patent attorney who believes modern-day families are over-parenting their kids, and Charlotte is a career woman-turned-stay-at-home mom who’s trying to help her kids navigate growing up. Grunberg is repped by Resolution. Farr is repped by UTA, Silver Lining Entertainment and attorney Eric Suddleson at Nelson Felker.

Trio Joins Fox Comedy Pilot ‘Council Of Dads’, ABC Adds To Drama Pilot ‘Partners’

Nellie Andreeva

EXCLUSIVE: The Job and Rescue Me alumna Diane Farr is reuniting with the two series’ co-creator Peter Tolan. She is set as the female lead in Fox’s comedy pilot for Fox Council of Dads. Also set as leads in the project are Patrick Breen and SAG president Ken Howard. Inspired by Bruce Feiler’s non-fiction book, the pilot, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, tells the story of Michael who, just before he dies, enlists five of his guy friends from all aspects of his life to become a “council of dads” to his two young children. Farr will play Michael’s wife, recent widow Catherine, who is absolutely intent on complying with her husband’s dying wish but quickly finds out that the five guys on the Council can agree about absolutely nothing. Breen and Howard will play two of the Council’s members. Howard plays Michael’s dad Burt,  ex-military guy who’s not to be screwed with. Breen plays Jerry, Michael’s ex-therapist who serves as the “Feelings Dad” on the council. Howard, repped by Greene & Assoc. and James/Levy, won an Emmy for Grey Gardens in 2009. He recurs on 30 Rock and is filming Clint Eastwood’s Hoover. Breen, repped by Gersh and A Management, had also been pursued for NBC’s Smash this season. UTA-repped Farr’s other series credits include … Read More »

Two alums from the underrated ABC comedy (and old favorite of mine) The Job, co-star Diane Farr and co-creator/executive producer Peter Tolan, have set up hourlong projects at Fox. Farr’s project is based on her upcoming semi-autobiographical book You Can’t Love One of Them, while Tolan’s is a medical drama written by Glen Mazzara (The Shield). Both have received script commitments. Read More »
