Ratings Rat Race: ‘Voice’ Lifts NBC, ‘Raising Hope’ Up, ‘Dr. Horrible’ Barely Registers

After airing a recap last Tuesday, NBC’s The Voice (4.4/13) returned in full force, up not only from last week (+47%) but also vs. the last original on the night two weeks ago (+10%). The Voice boosted Go On (2.8/7, up 33% from last week), The New Normal (2.0/5, up 18%), and Parenthood (2.0/6, up 25%). Parenthood posted its first No. 1 finish among 18-49 in the 10 PM hour this season, tying CBS’ Vegas and posting its best demo rating since November. NBC (2.9/8 in 18-49, 7.6 million total viewers) won the night in 18-49 for its first streak of three consecutive nightly wins in almost nine years.

Against a new Voice, CBS’ venerable drama NCIS (3.3/10) took a hit, down 11% from last week. NCIS: LA (2.9/8) was down 6%, while Vegas (2.0/5) held steady. CBS still comfortably won the night in total viewers with an average of 15 million and was a close second in 18-49 with a 2.8/8. Read More »

Comic-Con: Joss Whedon Says His ‘Dr Horrible’ Web Series To Air On The CW

Joss Whedon‘s web series Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is coming to the CW next year, the director of Marvel’s The Avengers director said this evening at Comic-Con. He did not say when the series would air, nor whether new episodes will be made for TV. The network didn’t have dates or times either. The original series stars Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day and streamed online over three acts in July 2008. Whedon directed and wrote the miniseries with his brothers Zack and Jed and wife Maurissa Tancharoen. His announcement today came at the end of a wide-ranging discussion by the director on a number of topics at a panel for Dark Horse Comics. Whedon has been a noteworthy presence at Comic-Con this year, appearing on several panels and events including today’s 10th anniversary panel for his cult sci-fi series Firefly. While there, he said he remains undecided about abwhether to return to the director’s chair for a sequel to The Avengers.
