TCA: MTV’s ‘Finding Carter’ Is “A Women’s Story”, Say ProducersMTV’s new original family drama Finding Carter centers on a teenager (Kathryn Prescott) who learns the woman who she thought was her mother actually abducted her as a toddler and must adjust to life with her biological family while looking for her on-the-lam “mom” (whew).

finding-carterHere’s a first look at MTV‘s original family drama Finding Carter, about a teenager who learns the woman who she thought was her mother actually abducted her as a toddler and must adjust to life with her biological family while looking for her on-the-lam “mom.” Skins‘ Kathryn Prescott stars as Carter Stevens, with Cynthia Watros, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Alexis Denisof , Zac Pullam, Milena Govich, Meredith Baxter, Robert Pine, Eddie Matos, Alex Saxon, Jesse Henderson, and Stephen Guarino rounding out the cast. Terri Minsky, Deborah Spera, Maria Grasso, and Alexander Motlagh are exec producers. Finding Carter was created by Emily Silver. Series debuts July 8 at 10 PM PT/ET:

MTV’s Picks Up Coming-Of-Age Drama Pilot ‘Finding Carter’ To Series

mtv1We have the first new drama series commissioned  by MTV‘s new programming team under president Susanne Daniels. The network has picked up hourlong pilot Finding Carter to series with a 12-episode order in the kind of success story that inspires young writers. Up-and-coming scribe Emily Silver, a story editor on Bones, originally penned Finding Carter as a writing sample, which was sent to ABC Family and MTV in 2012. When CarterArt copyMina Lefevre moved from ABC Family to MTV to head scripted development in January 2013, she put the project on a fast track. Veteran Terri Minsky (Sex And The City) was brought in as executive producer and, following a quick rewrite, the script landed a pilot order, which has now been followed by a series green light.  Read More »

EXCLUSIVE: Lost alumna Cynthia Watros is set to co-star in MTV’s drama pilot Finding Carter, from Emily Silver and Terri Minsky. It centers on teenage Carter, who has the perfect life with her fun-loving single mom Lori until a police bust reveals that Lori abducted her as a toddler. Now Carter must return to the family who thought they had lost her, including her biological mother Elizabeth (Watros), a tough police detective who was devastated by the disappearance of her daughter and will stop at nothing to catch her kidnapper. As she navigates brand-new parents, a twin sister, high school and boys, Carter vows to find Lori before the police capture the only mom she’s ever known and put her behind bars. Watros is with Innovative and Principal LA.

Rex Lee (Entourage) and Jonathan Sadowski ($#*! My Dad Says) have been cast opposite Emily Osment and Aimee Carrero in the ABC Family multi-camera comedy pilot Young & Hungry. Written by David Holden and executive produced by Ashley Tisdale, it centers on Gabi (Osment), a feisty young blogger hired as the personal chef to Nick (Sadowski), a young San Francisco tech entrepreneur. MTV has ordered two hourlong pilots: family drama Finding Carter, from Emily Silver and Terri Minsky, and cyber thriller Eye Candy, from top horror producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) and Twilight helmer Catherine Hardwicke.
