Hayden Christensen Re-Signs With Paradigm

hayden christensenEXCLUSIVE: The erstwhile Anakin Skywalker has returned to Paradigm for representation. Actor-producer Hayden Christensen departed the agency back in 2010 for UTA after passing on a number of big projects, his former rep told Deadline then. He’s had a four-year break from acting since. Christensen just recently wrapped action pic Outcast with Nicolas Cage and crime pic American Heist opposite Adrien Brody. The Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith thesp, whose credits also include The Vanishing On Seventh Street, Takers, Awake, and Life As A House, which nabbed him Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations, also brings to Paradigm his production shingle Glacier Films. With Glacier he’s exec producing features The Tank, Lionsgate’s Cooties, American Heist, and Lady of Csejte. The agency is repping domestic sales on Glacier Films’ titles.

Glacier Films & Steven Schneider Board Serial-Killer Tale ‘Lady Of Csejte’

Production on the creepshow starts this week in, appropriately, Transylvania with rookie helmer Andrei Konst. Lady Of Csejte follows the murderous doings of Hungary’s Elizabeth Bathory, the sadistic 16th century “Blood Glacier FilmsCountess” remembered as history’s most prolific female serial killer. Svetlana Khodchenkova and Isabelle Allen star in the pic, which is being produced by Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) as the first of a new four-picture producing deal he signed with Glacier Films. Schneider and Glacier – which launched at Cannes last year — also teamed on the horror comedy Cooties, which premieres at Sundance next week. Tove Christensen, Sarik Andreasyan, Gevond Andreasyan, Georgy Malkov and Vladimir Poliakov also produce Lady Of Csejte, which was penned by Matthew Jacobs. Wendy Rhoads and Glacier’s Hayden Christensen are exec producing.

Elijah Wood Horror-Comedy ‘Cooties’ Catches Alison Pill, Rainn Wilson, Jack McBrayer, Jorge Garcia, Nasim Pedrad

EXCLUSIVE: SpectreVision and Glacier Films have fleshed out the crew of teachers who’ll take on the ultimate school outbreak in prepubescent horror comedy Cooties. Pic, written by Leigh Whannell (Insidious, Saw) and Glee co-creator Ian Brennan, follows a zombie-like epidemic originating from an infected chicken nugget that turns elementary school students into rampaging savages. Joining Elijah Wood as a substitute teacher leading a ragtag band of educators in a fight for survival are Alison Pill as Lucy, an eternally optimistic 4th grade teacher, and Rainn Wilson as ex-athlete turned PE teacher Wade. Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), Jorgé Garcia (LOST), Nasim Pedrad (SNL), and Whannell also co-star. Filming is set to begin July 15 in LA with HONEST duo Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion directing. Wood is also producing the pic alongside SpectreVision partners Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller, with Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity) and Glacier Films’ Tove Christensen and Georgy Malkov also producing. Glacier’s Vladimir Poliakov, Sarik Andreasyan, Gevond Andreasyan and Hayden Christensen are exec producing. Paradigm arranged financing and is handling North American sales.

Cooties marks the latest genre project for Wood, who played the flip side of campus horror as an alien-battling teen in 1998′s The Faculty. It’s also one of multiple recent projects he’s come aboard as producer including Nacho Vigalondo’s Open Windows with Sasha Grey, which he stars in and exec produced. Read More »

Cannes: Glacier Films Launches With 11-Film Slate Starting With ‘American Heist’

Glacier Films partners Hayden Christensen, Tove Cristensen, Sarik Andreasyan, Gevond Andreasyan and Georgy Malkov announced the company’s launch today with an 11 picture film slate scheduled to shoot over the next three years. Russian concern Renovatio is financing. Six of the films will be produced in the $10 million range, with the remaining five targeting the micro budget genre, with budgets of approximately $1.5 million each. The first to go into production is American Heist, a remake of the 1959 Steven McQueen-starrer St. Louis Bank Robbery. American Heist stars Hayden Christensen and will be directed by Sarik Andreasyan. Logline: Two brothers with checkered pasts, one struggling on the road to normalcy, the other just released from prison intertwine when one drags the other into an ill-fated bank robbery spearheaded by a gang of dangerous criminals, testing the loyalty of their sibling bond and how far they will go for greed and family. Tove Christensen, Gevond Andreasyan, Georgy Malkov and Vladimir Poliakov are producing. Other casting offers are out with announcements anticipated shortly. Paradigm represents the project. American Heist begins production June 18th. On the micro budget side, the first film to be produced will be Lady Of Csejte, a historical horror fantasy based on the story of Countess Bathory, considered to be the most prolific serial killer in history, reported to have killed over 500 children in 16th century Transylvania.
