Golden Trailer Awards: ‘Gravity’ Wins Best Of Show; Warner Bros Tops Studios

GravityThe “Detached” trailer for Alfonso Cuaron’s awards-season favorite Gravity floated away with the top honor at tonight’s Golden Trailer Awards. The pic scored Best of Show and scooped up three other nods including Best Drama Poster and thriller TV spot. Godzilla and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire also scored four wins. Gravity distributor Warner Bros went into the 15th annual trophy show with a league-leading 51 nominations and came away with 15, the most for any studio. Universal (along with Focus) was second with nine wins, followed by Lionsgate with eight. Top trailer and creative vendors in the 2014 race included Ignition, whose Golden Trailer Awards Winners 2013work was honored in 14 different categories. Buddha Jones earned 7 awards, and Trailer Park was next with six. The judge panel included Frozen co-director Chris Buck, actor Adam Driver, Entourage creator Doug Ellin and castmember Debi Mazar, Raising Hope’s Garret Dillahunt, Divergent helmer Neil Burger, andSnow White And The Huntsman writer Evan Daugherty. Jay Mohr hosted the show from the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, at which 17 of the 75 awards were handed out. Here’s the Best of Show-winning Gravity trailer. Warner Bros Garners Most Golden Trailer Award Noms

goldWarner Bros set the pace for the biggest number of nominations in the 15th annual Golden Trailer Awards, which will be presented May 30 at the Saban Theater. The awards cover the gamut of trailers, and Warner Bros, with 51 noms for films including Gravity, The Lego Movie, Godzilla and The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, set the pace. Universal is second with 32 nominations including Focus Features, for movies that include A Million Ways To Die In The West, Lone Survivor, The Purge and Despicable Me 2. Right behind them is Fox, which includes Searchlight, and which got 31 noms for films that included The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, Rio 2 and How To Train Your Dragon 2. Lionsgate got 30 noms and Disney came in with 23. The judge panel includes Frozen co-director Chris Buck, actor Adam Driver, Entourage creator Doug Ellin and castmember Debi Mazar, Raising Hope’s Garret Dillahunt, Divergent helmer Neil Burger, and Evan Daugherty, writer of Snow White And The Huntsman. Golden Trailer Awards Winners 2013The annual marketing kudos went big for Disney pics Iron Man 3, Wreck-It-Ralph, Monsters University, Brave, and The Avengers at the Golden Trailer Awards Friday night. The GTAs didn’t just fete the best movie promos of the year. They also doled out Trashiest Trailer (to A24′s Spring Breakers) and gave indie comedy Hit & Run the Golden Fleece award, awarded to a trailer better than its actual movie. Golden Trailer Nominees Unveiled

Rob Schneider and Aisha Tyler will host the 14th annual Golden Trailer Awards on May 3 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. More than 1200 submissions were received this year, an 11% year-over-year increase, in a total of 70 categories, with honors in 16 main Show Categories set to be presented during the ceremony along with an additional trophy for Best in Show. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘Hunger Games’ Win Big At Golden Trailer Awards

The first official trailer for The Dark Knight Rises snared the top prize of Best In Show at the 13th Annual Golden Trailer Awards tonight at a mansion in Bel-Air. TDKR‘s trailer also took the trophy for Best Summer 2012 Blockbuster. It was a good year for women, organizers noted, with trailers and print promotions successfully promoting female protagonists in typically male-led genres. Snow White And The Huntsman took the prize for Best Action. The Bridesmaids red-band trailer (R-rated) earned Best Comedy and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo took Best Drama. Those two as well as all the other winning trailers are available to watch here. A print promotion displayed a similar pattern. The Hunger Games nabbed five Golden Trailers: Best Teaser Poster, Action Poster, Animation/Family Poster, Best Standee for Feature Film and Most Innovative Advertising for a Brand/Product.

Nominations, Jury Set For Golden Trailers

Golden Trailer Awards 2012 UPDATE: 10PM Nominees have just been announced for the 13th Annual The Golden Trailer Awards for the best trailers produced over the past year. There are a lot — theatrical trailers have alone cover more than a dozen categories (Best Action, Horror, Thriller, Animation, Comedy et al) with five nominations apiece. Comprehensive list of nominees follows below.

EXCLUSIVE: PREVIOUS, 3PM: The Golden Trailer Awards has unveiled the jury for its 13th edition: Jon Favreau, Patton Oswalt, Ivan Reitman, Fox Searchlight’s Nancy Utley, ex-CBS Film topper Amy Baer, producer Dana Brunetti, Randall Emmett and George Furla of Emmett/Furla Films, Blumhouse Prods’ Jessica Hall, Anonymous Content’s Alix Madigan, Ruby Films’ Faye Ward, and production designer Stuart Wurtzel. ‘The Social Network’ Wins Big At Golden Trailer Awards

Sony’s The Social Network picked up three awards in major categories last night at the Golden Trailer Awards in Los Angeles, then added the Best in Show trophy to its haul. The annual event honors the best of movie promotions. The Social Network‘s “Trailer #2″, produced by Mark Woollen & Associates, also won for Best Drama, Best Music and Most Original, making it the first trailer to take four major awards at the ceremony since The Matrix in 1999.

Jury Selected For Golden Trailer Awards

Alcon Entertainment co-founder Andrew Kosove, Appian Way co-chairman Jennifer Davisson Killoran, The Kids Are All Right executive producer J Todd Harris and French producer Vera Belmont are among the names selected for the jury of the Golden Trailer Awards, which honors movie promotion with kudos for trailers, posters and TV spots. The awards will be handed out June 29 at a ceremony at the Music Box Theatre in Los Angeles. The other jury memebers: Bobby Bedi, head of mini-studio Kaleidoscope in Mumbai and VP of the Film and TV producers’ Guild of India; Vernon Chatman, best known as the voice of Towelie on South Park but also a writer-producer and stand-up comedian; Claus Czaika, CEO of EuroVideoBildprogramm and a leading independent film distributor in Germany; Amy Hobby, a film and TV producer whose credits include Sundance jury prize-winner Secretary; Sherif Mandour, an independent producer and director of half-a-dozen Egyptian films; Axel Niehaus, a Grammy-winning recording and mix engineer; and Bernhard Stampfer, an international media financier who previously headed Deutsche Bank’s Expert Team for Telecommunication, Media and Technologies.
