Berlin: Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego To Direct Horror Pic ‘Sanctuary’ From Atlas Independent

berlinaleofficialposterSanctuary will be directed by Apollo 18 helmer Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego and produced by Atlas Independent, the company said today. Written by Ryne Douglas Pearson,  the horror pic follows three documentarians who travel to South America to investigate a town that mysteriously disappeared from the map. The trio is led to the ultimate enigma: an immense concrete structure located in the middle of the missing town, with no entrances or exits. Highland Film Group is handling worldwide sales and will introduce the title next month at EFM in Berlin. It marks the latest tie-up between Atlas Independent and Lopez-Gallego, following December 2013′s Open Grave starring Sharlto Copley and The Man On Carrion Road, which was announced at the last Cannes Film Festival and begins production in April. Atlas Independent is currently in post William Monahan’s Mojave. Cannes: Atlas Independent And Relativity Team For Timothy Olyphant-Starrer ‘The Man On Carrion Road’

LOS ANGELES, CA, MAY 10, 2013 – Atlas Independent, the affiliate company of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment and Relativity International, the newly formed international division of Relativity Media are pleased to announce a two picture deal in which Atlas Independent will produce and Relativity International will co-finance and sell internationally. The first film of the two will be the Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego helmed The Man on Carrion Road. Relativity International, led by President Camela Galano, will commence international sales at Cannes. Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego (Apollo 18) will direct The Man on Carrion Road based on rising screenwriter, Nils Lyew’s, script. Timothy Olyphant is currently attached to star. William Green and Aaron Ginsburg of Atlas Independent will produce. Atlas’ Andy Horwitz will executive produce. Atlas Independent is also currently in post-production on Lopez-Gallego’s feature, Open Grave.

‘Open Grave’ Adds Five To Cast

Sharlto Copley Open GraveThomas Kretschmann, Josie Ho, Joseph Morgan, Erin Richards and Hugo’s Max Wrottesley are joining Sharlto Copley in Open Grave. The haunting thriller sets six individuals waking up together next to a grave of rotting bodies in the middle of nowhere. None of them knows how they got there. Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, who helmed Apollo 18, is directing. Eddie and Chris Borey wrote the script. Open Grave is set to begin shooting Thursday. William Green and Aaron Ginsburg of Atlas Independent, a division of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment, are producing with Michael Wunderman. It’s being produced in association with 852 films.

Camela Galano Hangs Sales/Finance Shingle Speranza13 Media: Berlin

9 February 2012: Camela Galano, the former President of New Line International and Warner Bros. International Film Acquisitions, announced today the formation of her new international sales company Speranza13 Media. The new company, which specializes in international sales and financing launches with a slate including: Atlas Independent’s OPEN GRAVE, directed by visionary filmmaker Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego (APOLLO 18, El REY DE LA MONTANA) and written by Eddie & Chris Borey; and ROMEO AND JULIET, which was adapted for screen by Academy Award winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes’ (DOWNTON ABBEY, GOSFORD PARK) and directed by Carlo Carlei (THE FLIGHT OF THE INNOCENT).

OPEN GRAVE is the second feature film from Atlas Independent, a division of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment which produces edgy independent films. Atlas Independent’s William Green and Aaron Ginsburg will produce with executive producer Alan Glazer of Atlas Entertainment. Production is scheduled to begin April 2012.
