Ratings Rat Race: NBC’s ‘Talent’ Takes The Night; CW’s ‘Famous’ Falters

Ratings Rat Race: NBC’s ‘Talent’ Takes The Night; CW’s ‘Famous’ FaltersNBC’s America’s Got Talent (2.6/9 in 18-49, 11.3 million viewers from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) continues to dominate Tuesday nights, retaining 100% of last week’s demo rating –  though that had been the franchise’s smallest tally so far this edition. Talent won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in every key measure, and grew steadily throughout its two hours, by 32% in 18-49 the demo and nearly 2 million overall viewers. After Talent, Night Shift slid 7% (1.4/5, 6.6 million viewers).

CBS’ NCIS (0.9/3, 7.8 million viewers), NSIC: LA (0.9/3, 6.3 million viewers), and Person of Interest (0.8/3, 5.2 million viewers) all were repeats, but managed to finish No. 2 in their slots. ABC’s Tuesday slate should probably get a pass, since it was scheduled on short-ish notice, after the NBA Finals concluded Sunday night and made a Tuesday Game 6 unnecessary. That said, two hours of original Extreme Weight Loss logged a third-placed 0.8/3 (3.0 million viewers) at 8 PM and 0.8/3 (2.7 million viewers) at 9 PM.

Fox’s Family Guy repeat (0.8/3, 1.7 million viewers) was competitive at 8 PM – far less so the network’s live-action comedy reruns that followed, including back-to-back Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes (0.4/2, 1.0 million viewers and 0.5/2, 1.2 million viewers) and The Mindy Project (0.4/1, 1.1 million viewers).

CW’s Famous in 12 (0.2/1, 628,000 viewers) — in which one lucky family seeks fame in 12 weeks with the help of TMZ — plunged 33% from previous week. From that lousy launchpad,  Supernatural (0.3/1, … Read More »

After several weeks of pretty dismal ratings,I Wanna Marry Harry Cancelled Fox Fox is taking improv comedy Riot and reality series I Wanna Marry “Harry” off the schedule. Beginning next week, repeats of Family Guy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl and The Mindy Project will air on Tuesday. All unaired episode of I Wanna Marry “Harry” will be made available on Fox.com, Fox On Demand, FOX NOW and Hulu, starting tomorrow afternoon. The arrangements were only made for that show because it is owned by Fox, while the rights of Riot are controlled by Shine. A rep for Fox said that the network is “currently discussing an appropriate place on our schedule for the unaired episodes” of both series, but if history is any indication, pulled network series rarely find their way back to the schedule, so any I Wanna Marry “Harry” fans would be wise to seek out the remainder of the series online. In the last two weeks, Riot and I Wanna Marry “Harry” both drew a 0.4 rating in adults 18-49.

I Wanna Marry “Harry,” featuring single American women vying for the heart of a Prince Harry lookalike they are led to believe is the real thing, will debut May 27 and air in the Tuesday 8 PM slot.
