Sterling Jerins has signed for a role in The Coup for director John Eric Dowdle. Lake Bell, Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan star in the pic about a family of Americans who move overseas and find themselves caught up in a coup. They frantically try to escape an environment where foreigners are being summarily executed. Drew Dowdle, Michel Litvak, David Lancaster and Gary Michael Walters are producing. Jerins, who recently wrapped Dark Places and is shooting Life Itself, is repped by ICM Partners, Principal Entertainment LA and attorney Dave Feldman.
Laura Wiggins, Callie Thorne and Izabella Miko have joined Indy Entertainment’s dramatic thriller tentatively titled Thinspiration. Wiggins (Shameless) stars in director Tara Miele’s film as Hannah, a 17-year-old dancer who joins a “thinspiration” website and devotes herself to the glorification of “thin” until she becomes possessed by the dark world of pro-anorexia websites. Miko (Step Up 5) is the demonic webmaster who inspires the young woman to starve herself. Thorne (Necessary Roughness) plays Hannah’s mother, who tries to help her daughter through the crisis. Marcus Giamatti, and Sharon Lawrence also have joined the cast for producers Nancy Leopardi and Ross Kohn. Shooting is underway.
Step Up 2: The Street‘s Briana Evigan and Step Up: Revolution‘s Ryan Guzman will return to lead the Summit dance franchise in Step Up 5. They’ll reprise their roles as Andie and Sean, respectively, as the fivequel reunites over a dozen cast members from previous films in the franchise. Despite being rumored for another franchise appearance, original Step Up star Channing Tatum is not among the returning cast confirmed today by the studio which include fan favorites Adam Sevani (Moose), Misha Gabriel (Eddy), Alyson Stoner (Camille), Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss (Jason), Mari Koda (Jenny Kido), Chris Scott (Hair), Luis Rosado (Monster), Chadd Smith (Vladd AKA Robot Guy), and Martin & Facundo Lombard (The Santiago Twins). Series dancers Marc “Marvelous” Iniss, Nolan Padilla, Phillip Chbeeb, Bianca Brewton, Tony Bellissimo, Josue “Beastmode” Figueroa, and Brandy Lamkim will also stomp back for the sequel being directed by Trish Sie from John Swetnam’s script. Evigan is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment, Gersh, and David Feldman. Guzman is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment and Neil Meyer.
Also joining Step Up 5 is Izabella Miko (Coyote Ugly, Save The Last Dance 2, Clash of the Titans) in a supporting role. Miko will play Alexxa, the entertainment director for luxury Vegas hotel Valhalla, who hosts a dance contest to find the best crew in the world.
