ABC Family Hires Former GSN Exec Kelly Goode As VP Original Programming

TV veteran Kelly Goode has been named VP Original Programming for ABC Family, where she will be responsible for all existing scripted series including drama and comedy as the network launches a dedicated Current team amid a ramp-up in programming. She will head the unit and report to Kate Juergens, ABC Family’s EVP Original Programming and Development and Chief Creative Officer. Goode will also focus on the relationships with production teams and facilitate the communication between different productions and all ABC Family departments. Jennifer Gerstenblatt, Director Programming; Kelly Garrett and Danielle De Jesus, Managers Programming; and Julie Katchen, Coordinator Programming; will report directly to Goode. “We are most fortunate to have Kelly join our team”, Juergens said. “Her insights, expertise and ability to foster great relationships will help guide our current slate of hit originals into their next stage of growth and continue to shepherd our successful programming strategy.”  ABC Family launched five new series this summer along with four returning hit series including hits Pretty Little Liars and newcomers Twisted and The Fosters. WME Partner Sean Perry Elected HRTS President

The Hollywood Radio & Television Society’s board of directors has elected WME partner Sean Perry as the new president of HRTS for the 2011-13 term. He will succeed Lionsgate TV president Kevin Beggs, who headed the organization for the past three years. Perry, who is co-head of WME’s non-scripted television department, has been on the HRTS Board of Directors since 2008, and co-chaired the Unscripted Hitmakers Newsmaker Luncheon in April 2011. Additionally, Ian Moffit, head of Digital Video at BermanBraun, is the new VP; Martha Henderson, EVP Entertainment for City National Bank, has been re-elected Treasurer; and Kelly Goode, producer for GSN, is the new Secretary. HRTS Executive Director Dave Ferrara has also been re-upped to a new three-year deal. Reminder: HRTS’ annual Networks Chiefs luncheon is tomorrow. Prepare for long valet lines at the Beverly Hilton.

GSN Programming Boss Kelly Goode Steps Down, Segues Into Production Deal

Kelly Goode, who during her three-year stint as SVP Programming at Game Show Network has overseen the boost in original programming that has resulted in double-digit demo ratings increases, has stepped aside from her executive post and inked a two-year development and producing pact at the network. The former Lifetime and CBS Productions programming exec had helped spearhead GSN’s move into originals, bringing in the likes of Jerry Springer, Drew Carey, Sherri Shepherd, Wendy Williams and Norm Macdonald to host series and specials like The Newlywed Game and Love Triangle. The search is underway for a new programming boss, said GSN president and CEO David Goldhill, who made the deal announcement today.
