New Venture Road Show Theatrical Sets Broadway Bow With Wiz-Bang Magic Revue At Marquis TheatreEXCLUSIVE: Hugh Jackman may not make it to Times Square as Houdini, but Oz and magic are still in the cards for the Main Stem: Road Show Theatrical, a new joint venture pairing investors Kilburn Media Partners and presenter/management company The Production Office, will make its Broadway debut during the coming holiday season with The Illusionists — Witness The Impossible, a Las Vegas-style extravaganza slated to run at the Nederlander Organization-managed Marquis Theatre. Road Show is fully financing the show to the tune of  ”several million dollars,” according to the principals, Kilburn CEO Mark Manuel and Production Office managing partner Gregory Young.

IllusionistsUnder the WME banner, The Illusionists has been filling theaters in Australia and New Zealand, including the Sydney Opera House, with a splashy combination of magic acts and production numbers. The stars are billed as “seven of the most incredible illusionists on Earth.” The Marquis run is set for November 26 through January 4.

Cannes: Demarest Films, Kilburn Media Partner With Jeremy Renner’s The Combine

jeremy rennerIn what Demarest Films and Kilburn Media say is the first of several new joint ventures, the pair has entered an overall deal with Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield’s The Combine. The pact will cover the film and TV production company’s overhead costs and provide it with a fund for acquisition and development of new projects. In exchange, Demarest and Kilburn get first look at producing and financing the shingle’s projects. The Combine produced Kill The Messenger with Bluegrass Films; Focus is releasing the anticipated Michael Cuesta-directed drama Cannes2014_badgein October. The Combine is also developing Slingshot with FilmNation and Endgame Entertainment as a starring vehicle for Renner, and King Of Heists with Black Bear Pictures. On the TV and digital side, it recently sold feature The Throwaways to multi-platform network Crackle. Demarest principals Sam Englebardt and William D Johnson, and Mark Manuel and Ted O’Neal of Kilburn will work side-by-side with Renner and Handfield who founded The Combine in 2011 and previously had a first-look deal with Indian Paintbrush. CAA brokered the deal with Demarest Films and Kilburn Media on behalf of The Combine.

Berlin: David Foster Wallace Pic ‘The End Of The Tour’ Going Forward With Kilburn Media Financing

segelJason Segel is starring as the late author David Foster Wallace in The End Of The Tour, which co-stars Jesse Eisenberg and will be directed by James Ponsoldt. Mark Manuel and Ted O’Neal’s Kilburn Media has come aboard to fully finance the pic, which was written by Donald Margulies from Rolling Stone writer David Lipsky’s book Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip With David Foster Wallace. The fact-based movie follows Wallace and Lipsky (Eisenberg) on the book tour supporting Wallace’s best-known novel Infinite Jest. David Foster Wallace at New Yorker Magazine FestivalAlong the way, friendship, jealousy and competition emerge between the two writers as they discuss women, culture, depression and the pros and cons of fame.
