Lindsay Lohan To Sit With Barbara Walters On ’20/20′

By | Monday October 15, 2012 @ 9:53am PDT

The Lindsay Lohan-Barbara Walters interview is scheduled to air November 16 on ABC’s newsmagazine 20/20, just ahead of the premiere of Lifetime’s Liz & Dick, which stars Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor. Walters confirmed the booking this morning on The View. Lohan is trying to revive her acting career after being derailed by personal issues and the law the past few years and is doing her part promoting the Lifetime telepic, which co-stars Grant Bowler as Richard Burton and centers on the couple’s longtime passionate and stormy love affair. (FYI, even Lifetime parent company boss Nancy Dubuc said she warned Liz & Dick with Lohan would be a risk.) Lohan also is starring in the indie pic The Canyons and scored points with her hosting job on Saturday Night Live in March, steering the show’s highest-rated episode of the season.

Mipcom: A+E’s Nancy Dubuc Talks Taking Risks, Calls Lifetime A “Work In Progress”

A+E Networks president of entertainment and media Nancy Dubuc appeared for a Media Mastermind Keynote this morning in Cannes. The recently promoted exec reflected on the evolution of History which has been scoring big wins including with recent mini Hatfields & McCoys. A few years back, she said, “We knew in our gut that History needed to be more than a timeline.” With surprisingly successful shows like Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars, Dubuc said, “I think the culture and DNA of our organization is to take risks.”

Dubuc qualified the controversial upcoming Lifetime movie Liz & Dick starring Lindsay Lohan as a risk, but said everyone was well aware ahead of time. “It was framed from the point of view of me informing everybody: ‘Here’s the situation, here are the risks I’m taking, so hold on.’”

The buzzy movie debuts on Thanksgiving weekend and Dubuc maintains that Lifetime needs to get even buzzier. “There’s no question, Lifetime must evolve. It’s a work in progress right now.” A series project from Renee Zellweger is on deck at the network, the saucy Jennifer Love Hewitt series The Client List is getting a second season and the Steel Magnolias reboot just debuted last night with a cast that includes Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard and Phylicia Rashad. Dubuc joked that Zellweger, Latifah and Love Hewitt were “all in my will now.” On a more serious note, she sounded a challenge to the Hollywood community that laments the lack of female-driven projects, “You can’t go out and talk about it and not come,” to Lifetime, she said. Lindsay Lohan’s Movie Triggers SAG-AFTRA & IATSE Inquiries: What Is Really Going On?

The good news for Lifetime and the producers of their tabloid headline-making movie Liz & Dick is that it has only about a week of filming left. The bad news is that, as the first two and a half weeks of shooting proved, with Lindsay Lohan as the star, a lot could happen in a week that could impact production.

In the last two weeks, filming on the movie was pushed after Lohan crashed her car on her way to the set and when she passed out in her room toward the end of a nightlong shoot. In a tweet, Lohan cited exhaustion “after working 85 hours in 4 days.” When two crew members in the hair department left the production a day later, also claiming exhaustion, Liz & Dick began to attract union attentions. Despite an awkwardly worded statement by SAG-AFTRA today stressing that “we have thoroughly investigated this matter” and “all applicable penalties will be paid,” there have been no violations cited by the actors union yet, and a SAG-AFTRA rep admitted that “we do not have complete information on this yet.” Liz & Dick producer Larry Thompson, a TV movie veteran who is a union signatory and knows their requirements inside and out, acknowledged in a statement that “an AFTRA rep visited us on the set late yesterday afternoon and was TOTALLY fine with everything,” adding that per the union rep, it wasn’t any complaints from AFTRA members but “tweets and comments in the media” that prompted “their curiosity and desire to inquire.”

IATSE, the union that represents stagehands, film technicians and other crafts people, also officially weighed in on the matter tonight. “We have had union representatives on the set since last Friday [June 15] and will continue to monitor the hours and working conditions there,” IATSE said in a statement, though crew members working on Liz & Dick indicated earlier today that they hadn’t been contacted by their union yet to discuss the issue.

Because their budgets are modest, TV movies have far more compressed filming schedules than features do, which does lead to longer days on the set. But Liz & Dick crew members we spoke with disputed the filming hours account in Lohan’s tweet. “Lilo did not work 85 hours in 4 days and we are not averaging 20 hours a day,” one crew member said. “We worked about 70-75 hours in 5 days last week, which isn’t that abnormal for a TV movie. And we’re on set before Lilo and usually wrap long after she’s gone. We could’ve shaved off about 7 or 8 hours that we sat around waiting for Lilo.” Read More »

EXCLUSIVE: Lindsay Lohan is not the only person working on the Lifetime film Liz & Dick who is suffering from exhaustion. I’ve learned that two crew members in the hair department left the production yesterday with exhaustion. The network had no information whether two two sought treatment though according to a source, they went to the hospital with “severe dehydration and exhaustion.” Word is that the crew of the movie about Elizabeth Taylor’s romance with Richard Burton, has been working 20 or more hours a day.

Lohan, who plays Taylor in the movie, made headlines Friday morning when paramedics were called to her hotel room where she was found unconscious. According to her spokesman, she had been on set from 7 PM the night before until 8 AM and was treated at the hotel for “some exhaustion and dehydration.” Lohan did not go to the hospital and returned to work Friday night. “After working 85 hours in 4 days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion & 7 paramedics MIGHT show up,” Lohan wrote on Twitter yesterday.

UPDATE SATURDAY AM: Lindsay Lohan took to Twitter to address her medical emergency. “Note to self.. After working 85 hours in 4 days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion & 7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door… Hopefully they’re cute. Otherwise it would be a real let down,” she tweeted on Saturday morning. “Back on set.”

PREVIOUS: A week after Lindsay Lohan was involved in a serious car crash, delaying production on the Lifetime movie Liz & Dick, in which she plays Elizabeth Taylor, the actress had a health scare this morning when paramedics were called to her hotel room where she was found unconscious. She was not taken to a hospital and hope is that she would be back on the set when production is scheduled to resume tonight.

‘Liz & Dick’ Producer “Petrified” By Lindsay Lohan’s Car Accident, Says She Was Not Supposed To Drive

Around 4:30 PM today, hours after her call time, Lindsay Lohan finally made it to the set of her Lifetime movie Liz & Dick following a detour to the hospital for an evaluation after the  car she was driving to work crashed into a 18-wheeler. “She is shaken but not stirred,” Liz & Dick executive producer Larry A. Thompson said from the set of the movie in Malibu. “She wants to work, we are sending her to makeup hoping to resume production and get as much as we can done.” Scheduled for today were exterior scenes, most of them with Lohan, who plays Elizabeth Taylor in the film about the movie icon’s romance with Richard Burton. The few scenes without her were shot and filming was suspended while producers were trying to get information on Lohan’s condition. Because Lohan needs about two hours of makeup to transform herself into Taylor, the planned daytime scenes with her have been scrapped, with the producers and the director trying to film some nighttime scenes instead. “It’s a jigsaw puzzle,” Thompson said. But despite the crew’s best efforts, “there will be a production loss today, we are just trying to minimize the loss.” As his company, Larry A. Thompson Prods., is producing the movie, Thompson has been in touch with his insurance broker to figure out if the loss will be covered.

Lindsay Lohan’s Car Crash Delays Filming On Lifetime’s ‘Liz & Dick’

Lindsay Lohan Car AccidentFour days into production, Lifetime‘s Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton biopic Liz & Dick starring Lindsay Lohan has made its first Lohan-related tabloid headline after the actress was involved in a car crash today on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. She was on her way to the set of the movie, which had been scheduled to begin filming at 2:30 PM in Malibu. Lohan, who plays Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick, was hospitalized along with her lone passenger, an assistant, after colliding with an 18-wheeler, according to TMZ. After an evaluation, she was released and is believed to be on her way back to the set. Production was suspended while Lohan was being treated as she was slated to do the scenes that had been set up. It is unclear why it was Lohan behind the wheel and not her assistant or a driver from the production.

Elizabeth Taylor Lifetime MovieLindsay Lohan Elizabeth TaylorAfter months of negotiations, Lifetime has signed Lindsay Lohan to portray Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick. The biopic chronicling the enduring love of movie icons Taylor and Richard Burton, whose fiery romance was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. The news comes on the heels of Lohan completing her court-mandated community service and quickly returning to her partying ways. The latter — especially tabloid reports of fights allegedly involving Lohan — raised questions whether Lifetime would proceed with the actress, whose career had been largely sidelined for the past couple of years by stints in rehab, jail, court rooms, and the recent house arrest/community service. Lohan returned to acting last month with a hosting stint on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, which drew big ratings. Lifetime brass obviously took notice. Here is the network’s release:

SNL: Lindsay Lohan’s Lame SNL Monologue

Creatively, last night’s Lindsay Lohan-hosted Saturday Night Live felt like a letdown after the strong, star-studded previous episode hosted by Maya Rudolph. But in the ratings, it was anything but. SNL, fronted by the tabloid fixture as well as musical guest Jack White, drew a 5.5/14 in metered-market households last night. That was up 12% from the Maya Rudolph edition and the second-highest SNL rating this season, behind only the football-inflated January 7 telecast (8.2/19), which aired on the night of NBC’ coverage of the Lions-Saints NFL Wildcard playoff game. Versus the same night last year, the late-night show was up 2%. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, SNL averaged a 3.3/15 among adults 18-49, up 14% from the last original and again the second-highest rating this season behind the 4.6/18 of January 7.
