EXCLUSIVE: The Londoner who starred opposite Cameron Diaz in Bad Teacher has inked with CAA. Lucy Punch, who starred on the 2012-13 Fox comedy Ben And Kate, next appears in the upcoming musical Into The Woods, with Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep, and director Peter Bogdanovich’s 2015 pic Squirrels To The Nuts. Her big-screen credits also include Hot Fuzz, You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger and Dinner For Schmucks. Her TV gigs have included Vexed and The Class. Punch continues to be managed by the Schiff Company and repped by United Agents in the UK.
Lucy Punch is set to co-star opposite Abby Elliott in Fox’s single-camera comedy pilot Ned Fox Is My Manny (formerly Ben Fox Is My Manny), directed by Jake Kasdan. The project, from writer Dana Fox, 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment, centers on an uptight single mother Kate (Elliott) whose aimless brother moves in to help raise her daughter (Maggie Jones). WME-repped Punch will play BJ, Kate’s co-worker and friend. This marks Punch’s return to series television. She had been focused on features for the past few years since her co-starring role on CBS’ The Class.
Brothers & Sisters alum Dave Annable has been tapped for a lead role in ABC’s drama pilot 666 Park Avenue. Based on the Alloy book series by Gabriella Pierce, the project centers on a young couple, half of it played by Annable, who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. Unwittingly, they begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building. Terry O’Quinn plays the building’s owner. Annable is with CAA and Sue Leibman.
EXCLUSIVE: Lucy Punch has been tapped as the female lead in the FX drama pilot Powers. Based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the project, written by Charles H. Eglee and to be directed by Michael Dinner, is a police procedural set in a world where superpowers are relatively common. It centers on two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim (Punch), in a Homicide department that deals with cases involving “powers” (people with superpowers).
Eglee, Dinner, David Engel and Brian Bendis are executive producing for Sony Pictures TV and FX Prods. Filming is slated for mid-summer in Chicago. This marks a return to series television for the British-born Punch, whose first major U.S. role was on the CBS comedy The Class. She has been busy in features lately, appearing in Dinner for Schmucks and Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. Punch, repped by WME, the Schiff Co. and U.K’s United Agents, will next be seen in Sony’s comedy Bad Teacher, which opens this weekend.
UPDATE: Relativity Media has announced a four year foreign output deal with Tripictures. Tripictures will oversee the distribution of Relativity-produced features in Spain. This includes films Relativity is actively developing, producing, financing and distributing.
EARLIER: The Berlin press releases are flying today for films being sold at the market. Summit Entertainment, Lakeshore Entertainment Group and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment announced that Amanda Seyfried will star in Gone, a thriller to be directed by Heitor Dhalia from a script by Allison Burnett. Lakeshore and Sierra/Affinity are selling at the European Film Market…Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and Samuel Goldwyn Films are partnering on U.S. distribution rights for A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, which will be directed by Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory from their script. Jason Sudeikis, Tyler Labine, Leslie Bibb, Will Forte and Lucy Punch head the cast. Essential Entertainment is selling international sales at Berlin.

Punch, who’d been repped by ICM, makes the move at a time when she’s about to open in the Jay Roach-directed Dinner for Schmucks, followed by Woody Allen’s You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, the Nicole Kassell-directed Earthbound and the Jake Kasdan-directed Bad Teacher, which also stars Cameron Diaz, Jason Segal and Justin Timberlake. Punch continues to be managed by The Schiff Company and UK-based United Agents.
CAA has signed Amber Heard, who is coming off Zombieland and will next be seen opposite Johnny Depp in the Bruce Robinson-directed The Rum Diary and opposite Nicolas Cage in the Patrick Lussier-directed Drive Angry. Heard had been repped by WME, and remains lawyer-ed up with Karl Austen.
