Oscar Isaac Star Wars CastLooks like JJ Abrams, who is so secretive he probably still won’t admit to having directed the first two Star Trek movies, is finally going to have to divulge his cast for the revamp of Star Wars. The force is with him, in that he’s got a big table read tomorrow with the cast in London, and so he’s finally going to be forced to fess up shortly. There have been more rumors on this one than any film in recent memory, and here’s the latest.

star-wars-logo__130325012712-200x144__131107212744I’m hearing that Inside Llewyn Davis star Oscar Isaac is in line for a major role, as is Adam Driver and Attack the Block’s John Boyega, both of whom have been rumored. There is also a young girl, and that might be Maisie Richardson-Sellers, an Oxford-trained actress whose casting has been rumored in recent weeks. The new cast members will join returning Star Wars alums Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. The big surprise, I’m told, is that Ford has a gigantic role in the first of the next three films. Disney hasn’t been commenting on any of this, and today’s no different. Stay tuned.

Maisie Richardson SellersThe producers have their eye on Maisie Richardson-Sellers, an Oxford-trained actress whose credits seem to range from local stage plays to, well, more local stage plays. With the scarcity of real Star Wars: Episode VII casting news, any hints from the London set have fans and media making the jump to light speed. Six weeks ago, the rumor star-wars-logo__130325012712-200x144mill had Adam Driver out front for a lead villain role. And with production set to start next month on the Disney/Lucasfilm tentpole, it’s high time for some facts. But not tonight. Well, at least R2-D2 is confirmed. Meanwhile, the franchise pic is due to touch down in theaters December 18, 2015.
