Dorian Missick Cast In ‘Annie’; Morgan Freeman To Narrate IMAX Docu; Fran Kranz Joins ‘Mojave’; ‘Mortdecai’ Adds Guy Burnet

Southland‘s Dorian Missick has been cast in Columbia’s Annie remake. He and Tracie Thoms will play Annie’s “fake parents” in the pic which stars Quvenzhane Wallis and Jamie Foxx. Will Smith and Jay-Z are producing the Christmas 2014 release which begins filming in NYC this Fall. Missick recently shot the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Beware the Night with Eric Bana and Joel McHale. He’s repped by Innovative Artists, MJ Management, and Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson and Binder.

WB has tapped Morgan Freeman to narrate Island of Lemurs: Madagascar. The IMAX 3D docu adventure features lemur expert Patricia Wright and tracks the species indigenous to the lands of Madagascar. The pic reunites Freeman with writer/producer Drew Fellman and director David Douglas (Born to Be Wild 3D). Island of Lemurs opens in select IMAX and IMAX 3D screens April 4. Freeman is repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Fran Kranz (Cabin in the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing) is joining William Monahan‘s Mojave opposite Oscar Isaac, Garrett Hedlund, and Walton Goggins. ‘Justified’s Walton Goggins Joins William Monahan Pic ‘Mojave’

EXCLUSIVE: Walton Goggins has been cast opposite Garrett Hedlund, Oscar Isaac and Louise Bourgoin in Mojave, the Atlas Independent thriller written and being directed by William Monahan. The story centers on a a near-suicidal artist who escapes into the desert to take an existential crisis head-on, only to encounter a doppelganger-like antagonist in the form of a brilliant, homicidal drifter. Monahan’s Henceforth pictures is co-producing, and production is already underway on location in LA and the Mojave Desert. Goggins, whose big-screen roles include Django Unchained, Lincoln and GI Joe 2: Retaliation, is about to start shooting Season 5 of on FX’s Justified, for which he has an Emmy nom for playing baddie Boyd Crowder. He is repped by ICM Partners and manager Darris Hatch.

Louise Bourgoin Joins Oscar Isaac And Garrett Hedlund In ‘Mojave’

EXCLUSIVE: César-nominated French actress Louise Bourgoin will join Oscar Isaac and Garret Hedlund in Mojave, the thriller to be directed by William Monahan from his original screenplay. The film is about a desolated, violent artist who escapes into the desert and encounters a worthy antagonist in the form of a brilliant, homicidal drifter. Bourgoin is best known for the French films La fille de Monaco and L’amour dure trois ans. Monahan’s Henceforth Pictures will co-produce the film with Atlas Independent. The actress is repped by WME, which also reps Monahan. The writer/director is also repped by 42 and David Weber.

Cannes: Garrett Hedlund Heads To ‘Mojave’

Garrett Hedlund will star alongside Oscar Isaac in the William Monahan thriller Mojave. The pic, from Monahan’s original script, is a classical two-hander about a near-suicidal artist (Hedlund) who escapes into the desert to take an existential crisis head-on, only to encounter a doppelganger-like antagonist in the form of a brilliant, homicidal drifter (Isaac). Atlas Independent is behind it. Relativity International will handle international sales at Cannes while CAA is co-repping domestic with WME.
