‘Walk Of Shame’ Moves To Focus World And Is Pushed Back Again

By | Tuesday November 26, 2013 @ 2:13pm PST

First, the FilmDistrict rom-com was set for release this past September. Then in June it was pushed to March 14. Now Walk Of Shame has a new opening date — April 25 — and will be released by Focus World, the alternative-distribution initiative of Focus Features. Elizabeth Banks stars as an aspiring reporter whose dreams of becoming a network news anchor are compromised when a one-night stand with a handsome stranger (James Marsden) leaves her stranded in downtown LA without a phone, car, ID or money — and eight hours to make it to a big job interview. Steve Brill wrote and directed the film, which now will open against Echo, the adventure pic that Relativity acquired from Disney in July, and Fox’s Cameron Diaz comedy The Other Woman.

‘Dumb And Dumber To Hit Theaters In November 2014

By | Monday November 18, 2013 @ 5:04pm PST

The L-O-N-G-time-coming sequel will arrive in less than a year — well, four days less. Universal said today that Dumb And Dumber To, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, is coming to your local multiplex on November 14, 2014. If you’re scoring along at home, that’ll be three weeks short of the 20-year anniversary of Dumb And Dumber, which raked in more than $250M worldwide. Peter and Bobby Farrelly, who made their directorial debuts on the original, are back to helm the new pic. They’re also producing with Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland of Red Granite Pictures, Charles Wessler and Bradley Thomas. Kathleen Turner, Rob Riggle, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden and Steve Tom also star in Dumb And Dumber To, which finds Lloyd and Harry on a road trip to locate a child never knew he had. Whether that kid is old enough to drink remains to be seen.

Fox And Disney Now Swap Release Dates

Remember I told you that Fox was irked when Disney scheduled John Carter From Mars on the same release date as Prometheus? Today, Fox moved the Ridley Scott tentpole with Alien prequel DNA from March 9, 2012, to June 8, 2012. Not only is that a huge summer play date, but it’s the slot that John Carter From Mars originally vacated.  I love a good dogfight between major studios. Ridley is scripting Prometheus with Lost‘s Damon Lindelof while 3D John Carter Of Mars is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ fantasy series.

Meanwhile, Disney today scheduled Arrietty for a wide February 17, 2012, release. The animated Studio Ghibli production will announce its voice cast later.
